Designed in collaboration with BASS pro and legendary crankbait angler David Fritts, the Berkley Squarebull 5.5 Crankbait captures the essence of an artfully crafted wooden crank with the exactness and durability you find in synthetic baits. Providing maximum flash and a swaggering tail wag ideal for targeting shallow water bass, the Squarebull features a muscular build and erratic hunting action made to dive into heavy cover and sniff out big bass.
Backed by two razor-sharp Berkley Fusion19 treble hooks, these crankbaits offer fast-setting performance with a completely balanced design that’s tuned to run straight right out of the packaging. Delivering excellent deflective properties as well, the Berkley Squarebull 5.5 Crankbait is equipped with a highly durable square bill that’s built for deflecting off of timber and rock to trigger split-second reactions strikes.
Upgrade Your Treble Hooks!
Comments: I fished my 5.5 the other day for the first time after having it a couple years. It has a dull thump rattle. Hooks are great. I caught a lot of fish on it, and they hit it hard. Not a bad squarebill to add to your arsenal if you are looking for something new. These were pressured fish and I was fishing behind the guy in the front who was cranking, too. Pick a color you like and try it.

Comments: Just so people know, you do NOT have to replace these trebles unless you want to go up a size or get a thicker treble on there. I changed all my rapala's stock hooks for Owner ST36 hooks and I was planning to change these hooks too until I compared them side by side. I think they are Fusion 19's. But yeah, they're just as sticky as the Owners. Save some $ and leave them on there.

Comments: This thing is freaking sick. I used to never like crankbaits, but now I have gotten in to them. I picked this guy up in sexier shad, and did pretty well with it at a medium sized pond. Just slow roll it around structure, and you'll get bit. It has a perfect tight wobble. From: Landon: Texas 2/23/20
Comments: I use all 3 sizes of these shallow cranks for Largemouths and they are the best squarebills I have ever used. Maybe the design changed recently, but my 3.5 and 5.5 have a quiet rattle and the 7.5 is louder. Most anglers will call me crazy, but I fish all 3 on 17 lb Stren original mono. With this line, the lures run 2, 4, and 6 feet, respectively. My hookup ratio is better with mono and the 17 lb test doesn't break in heavy cover. You can rip these baits out of grass and hydrilla that way. The best colors are Special Red Craw, Black/Chartreuse, and Gilly. Beware in Crappie invested waters; big Slabs slam these lures too! From: Unknown: 1/7/20
Comments: It should be noted that the 7.5 models have an internal rattle while the 3.5 and 5.5 are silent models. From: Robert: Tupelo, MS 11/19/19
Comments: Bait works great. Hooks are so so. Don't know why someone is complaining about the rattle though. These are silent baits. From: James: KY 10/23/19
Comments: I had high hopes for this crank. I bought three of the 5.5's to give them a shot. The internal weight / rattle sticks in all three baits. I guess there's a reason I always default to my Lucky Craft RC 1.5's.From: Unknown: 6/14/19
Comments: Went fishing yesterday and all my fish came on this bait. Even caught a slab crappie. A big bluegill swiped at it and the razor sharp fusion19 hooks snagged it right up. Trokar has nothing on the fusion19 hooks. Great detail on this bait and excellent paint jobs. There's a reason why berkley has been around so long. Their products are quality.

Comments: Holy smokes! I couldn't believe it when I took this thing out of the package but all I got to say is Berkley has really stepped up their game since the last time I bought their products. The attention to detail on paint is insane and the hooks are probably the sharpest I've ever felt, and I've pretty much felt everything. Hats off to Berkley. I can't imagine this Squarebull to not perform.

Comments: this thing has the tight action of a flat sided bait! something fish haven't seen. Colors are great, dives 6 ft easy. in the summer some of my other square bills out fish it probably because of the tight action. i could see this being the ticket in the spring or fall though. the hooks are hands down the best hooks money can buy, however, the hooks make so much noise coming through the water you wouldn't know it was supposed to be silent. durable bill and paint holds up slightly better than average. its with getting one to see what you think

Comments: Best crank bait hands down 5.5 in Gilly. I caught my PB large mouth middle of November last year on it. 5lb 11oz. Local lake i had fished all season and never got over a 3 1/2 lber until throwing this. Deflects well. Have lost a few baits but worth chucking in the nasty stuff and grinding the boulders for the rewards. Also at $6.99 loosing a few here and there is nothing when throwing $40 plus swim baits and glides baits half the

Comments: Great crank, caught my PB pike this year off a 7.5 special red craw. The hooks are strong and it swims great, casts far too. ts better than a lot of cranks I own, Should have bought a bunch of these instead.
From: illStateMonsterHunter - IL 2/19/17
Comments: I have used almost every crank bait on the site. this one by far is my favorite and colors are spot on.

Comments: I'm a fan of the Berkley Pitbull square bills. They cast well and are easy to get down to that 5 to 6 foot range with 10 or 12 lb fluoro. They have a very nice action kind of unique to this bait. I have caught fish on them on several different occasions. Also worth mention are the Fusion Hooks Berkley uses they are incredibly sharp and very high quality. I've even started buying the fusion line for other techniques.
From: Matt B: New Phila, Ohio 12/25/16
Comments: I love the color. They have really good shad colors. Swims good out of the pack. The only problem I encountered was the hook broke on a 6lb large mouth still got the fish though. So watch the hooks.
Comments: Got the pitbull in "big money" & although i didn't catch any fish I could see the bass striking at it constantly so at least they show they want it & I'm a total novice with hard baits. I'll definitely be buying more because the bass at my lake are finicky and the water is ultra clear
From: Michael: USA 5/11/16
Comments: Hands down the best squarebill crank I've ever owned. It straight up catches fish in all sorts of conditions. Will be getting more once more colors are in stock.

Comments: These lures are awesome! The whole Berkley line up rules, but the Pitbull 5.5 is my favorite. This is the squarebill to use in both cold and warmer waters
From: Josh: SC 2/15/16
