The Cotton Cordell Big O C78 Squarebill Crankbait is the first advance in the Big O since Cotton Cordell transformed Fred Young’s wooden carving into plastic in 1973. Now equipped with a tougher lip, they still retain that original fish-catching action, buoyant body and cover-deflecting ability as the original. Available in today’s hottest color patterns, the Cotton Cordell Big O C78 Squarebill Crankbait was designed and tested right here in the USA.
Upgrade Your Treble Hooks!
Comments: Been using these for years off the clearance rack and still love them. I've tried a lot of expensive crankbaits and these get bit just as good.

Comments: It is cheap, the paintjob isn't great, the hooks are so-so. But it has the magic sauce. It has an amazing wobble and it gets bit. If you are buying expensive shallow cranks, know that this little dude likely gets bit 2-1. Why? I have no idea. It just does.

Comments: This is by far the best rattling squarebill I've used and owned. It has a loud rattler unlike any other squarebill on the market, which is a huge plus (if you're looking for a squarebill with a rattling system). At first, like other reviews, it seems really cheap because the paint job is ugly. Ugly as it is, it has the color scheme that I liked and it proved me that fishes of all size will bite it. I wish there is a place that I can upload a picture because just yesterday I caught a massive carp on the 2 inch Big O! Hands down, this is a great rattling squarebill that needs to be tested if you in the market for a rattling squarebill. Highly recommend it!

Comments: This is my favorite crankbait of all time. I love the little 2-inch size (C76) on smallmouth rivers and streams on 6-pound test line and also on ponds and small lakes for largemouth. When I go to larger bodies of water I upgrade to the 2 1/4-inch size (C77) on 10-pound test. Yes, they are made in China out of plastic that does chip after time. And the hooks are not the sharpest ones on the market. But none of that seems to matter. They all run perfect out of the box and even the battle-scarred ones still produce. I love all the new colors but I wish they would have painted the lips like they do on the others. That was sort of a cool Big O trademark.

Comments: It looks cheap and low quality at first....But this thing catches fish!!!!! I fish them in rivers for smallies and they do amazing. I decided to try one in a pond for bass and they destroy there as well. I was impressed. However if after a few catches and bumping off logs and rocks the hooks get really dull so I replace all mine. Overall very good lure for the money.

Comments: Canadian fisherman over here. Can verify the effectiveness of these lures in these Ontario lakes. A very good multi-species lure. Always produces fish for me everywhere I go. I have a box of about 30+ squarebills from all different companies and this is still the go to. Chartreuse perch is my go to for pike and bass. Pearl white from my experience is the best for trout. The action is amazing, never rolls over, can be fished slow or burn it with the reel. Buy one, you won't regret it.

Comments: Now that these are made overseas the quality is not like one that was made years ago. I am sure that they still catch fish, but I will reach for an old one first to catch those East Tennessee brown fish.

Comments: I first used the Big O Smoky Joe and Chrome Black in the early '80's and this lure took every game fish it came across, smallmouth bass, walleye and pike, even some aggressive Brown Trout on my home waters of French Creek and the Allegheny River

Comments: Up here in Canada, they sell these in 3 packs. Comes with the chartreuse, perch and pearl red eye. I have caught so many different species with all 3 colors on different lakes. Pearl color is excellent for trouts on a slow retrieve. I use the Perch color for mostly pike and the Chartreuse for all types of bass and sunfish. What's good is you can burn them on the retrieve and they don't roll over like most squarebills. They give off a good vibration on the tip of the rod so it's easy to detect strikes. The durability is there as well. Mine are so beat up but are still in tune and still catches fish everytime. I have hundreds of hard baits in my tackle box but I still end up going to these 3 when I have to produce fish. Pair it with a wacky rig worm and you'll have a productive day of fishing for sure.

Comments: 4 years ago I swore by these baits as they flat out caught fish, fast forward to now. They still catch fish but you will need 15 of them to produce 2 fish. I don't know what happened to the quality of their bills but they suck and break if they hit anything. I will not buy another one if my life depended on it. Very crappy quality
From: Robert: NC
Comments: I have caught over 400 bass river and stream fishing with the chart black back orange belly. Of course it's discontinued and over priced on EBay.From: Brian: Pikeville, Ky
Comments: All around awesome bait.I go to Canada every summer and the big "O" just kills the pike every time, and the lg.mouth and small mouth killem as well! It'the go to bait when the fishing gets slow. Have caught crappy and walleye on them as well! From: John: wooster, ohio, usa
Comments: STOOPID Bait!! I bought one on a whim because Wal Mart is selling these things for $1.50 and was blown away by it's reliability. I bought the chrome black one and it is a tank coming through cover...the finish is nicked up pretty good now but I bought all I could get my hands on..change out the cheapie hooks and look out..
