Comments: The line is a bit rounder which helps from cut ins in the spool. Like if you are fishing pads and having to rip your bait free a flatter braid can dig into itself a bit. Then when you go to cast you get an overrun. This line helps prevent it. They say you should use a 4 braid to flip and 8 braid to cast. to me both in 65lb are good for flipping. 65lb is what I use to flip and cast glide baits a mile. Using line smaller than 50 imo is a waste of time on a baitcaster.  Its line. Major brands of mono are all pretty good. Fluro needs to be changed once a month or it becomes brittle imo and experience. Braid, even cheap knockoff braid, is all pretty similar. Some fray and bleed color so look out for that but the major brands are all pretty good. The 8 strand version are a bit better to cast and dont cut into the spool as much if you use 50 or 65lb.

Comments: After 3 wind knots in a couple of hours I replaced the reel with PP Maxcuatro. No problems. I still use J-Braid Grand in 50# for topwater.

From: William: San Diego, CA 9/25/21

Comments: Horrible just terrible, if you want to lose baits from just casting this is the best thing to do it with. I tie an improved clinch knot and wham the bait is flying tie another one on same thing I thought it was my fault till I read some reviews this is a money scam when you first get this it looks great. Far casting but that's it it cast far dosent hold for more than 5days normal braid can last for 6months or more if you get a hit with this braid don't even think about setting the hook I was throwing 15# and it came off it's the worst braid out there by far go with Lyn or power pro

Comments: Daiwa J-Braid Grand 8X  is the 2nd attempt at the Daiwa J-Braid offering. After 1 season of fishing, rods and reels stored in my basement out of direct light 40# braid. The 1st trip out to my favorite lake, 2nd season the line was on my reels. I had the line break 5 out or 5 fish. Each time I was using a 20 foot mono 30# shock leader. Now I am catching Carp up to 64#. vey rarely under 10# I have 12' carp rods with Shimano Ultegra 5500 reels. I have a couple of reels that have Fireline 3 years old and still working. After I lost the fish ( don't insult me telling me to adjust my drag correctly.) I am 60 years old and have been carp fishing for 30 years. Carp don't bones around the lips of their mouth. Over tightening your drag when carp fishing will result in a lost fish every time. So now you see my concerns about the break offs. I contacted Daiwa for a refund. They told me that they wanted the entire amount of line from my reels. ALL 600 YARDS. Of coarse we played 50 questions abou
t how I probably left the gear on the back porch or garage. Once I convinced him I wasn't talking crap, and I wanted a refund. Well he said the needed to test the line once I sent it back to them. And they wanted the spool the line was bought on. I didn't have it. 3 weeks go by and FedEx drops off a package that had 4 spools of the NEW GRAND J-Braid. I never used it. I sold it. So they must have been aware of the 1st gen not being very resistant to sunlight or water or 12' rods...lol I use Sufix 832 with a mono shock leader 20'. this serves 2 purposes. Helps stop abrasion from areas with cover that would damage braid, secondly it stops pull offs at the net. Mono stretch's and is more forgiving then just braid. I can't give a honest review on Daiwa J-Braid Grand 8x. But I know why they pulled the Plain version 1.0  Daiwa J-Braid  8X. Any 1 interested in seeing 50 to 60 pound grass carp drop me a email with the request and I will send you pics. The technician from Daiwa thought I may
be exaggerating about the sizes I told him I was catching. We were talking on the phone after he got my email requesting a refund. He asked nicely could you send me some pictures of these large fish I'm sending you  me email address. So I did as we were talking on the phone. I got his full undivided attention then. I was no longer a crack pot just complaining. Tight lines Wished I could have reviewed the Grand Daiwa J-Braid. but I didn't trust it. Im talking about Daiwa J-Braid 8x Gen 1. Not recommended.

Comments: If you're looking for a sleek braid for max casting distance or open water fishing that won't break the bank then this is the line for you! The x4 is thicker and is better for cutting through grass. The X8 is perfect on spinning tackle. I caught a 20+ pound river carp with this in 15lb with a 10lb mono leader (alberto knot) on a spybait, the knot strength is there. The color will fade quickly but it doesn't seem to affect it's performance.

From: Ben: MN 12/10/20

Comments: If you power fish until your arm falls off, this is your go to braid. I've fished all colors including the grey, yes the color fades but the line never fails as long as you initially spool it correctly. I even use it on my finesse spinners. Holds well with a FG knot to fluoro or mono leader. Personally, I've found a home and I ain't leaving.

From: Whop: NorCal 10/10/20

Comments: If you love wind knots and spending all day cutting them out and re tying leaders well your in luck! This is the stuff for you! Guaranteed to make an absolute mess of your fishing day diawa j braid. Do not waste your money. Im writing an apology email to power pro for trying another brand and thinking I would have the same or better results. What an absolute waste of $50+

From: Tom: Boston, MA 9/19/20

Comments: My favorite braided line .. soft - strong - holds color - does not dig into my reel - does not have that horrible noise going through guides . Very low price for such a high quality braid.

From: Dean: Las Vegas 6/28/20

Comments: This is my go to braid. I use the 30#. It is fairly round so it doesn't dig into itself which I have had a lot of problems with that with other braid. It does fray eventually but I am a college student with not much money coming in so I haven't replaced it and I have been fishing with mine being frayed pretty good for the past couple years and nothing bad has happened yet and I have caught some big bass with it.

From: Trey: Vermont 5/4/20

Comments: I've really liked this braid. Using the 20# and 30#. It handles beautifully, with just enough rigidity, but still lands quietly on the water. It is thinner than the previous braids I'd been using, and I don't know it's true break strength. (Nor true break strength of other brands either). Regardless, it's stronger than my rods, so that's academic.
*Update* I've had no trouble with the 20 and 30#. But... now using the 10lb, it's too soft, self-knotting repeatedly with subtle slack-line presentations. Loose loops on the spinning reel cinch tight into knots when casting. Going to something else for L,UL work.

From: Paul: CO 7/16/19

Comments: This line is amazing. I use it for surf fishing for pompano and whiting near Tampa. I can cast almost a full football field and still have no issues. I literally love this line.

From: Bob 3/25/19

Comments: I first started with spider wire, then switched to Power Pro, I thought Power Pro was the best, I would lose the occasional lure, and one day I needed line so I thought I'd try the Jx8 and I've totally switched my line on all my 15 reels to Jx8.  This line casts further, does not birdnest, if it does it comes out easy, it's stronger than Power Pro and Spider Wire. I highly recommend Jx8 braid to anyone!! Best braid I've used and I fish every day!

From: Unknown 1/17/19

Comments: Absolute garbage line! I thought I was a good caster until I spooled my frog rod with this. It digs into itself on the spool, and I've had far too many days end with monster backlashes that I can't get out. It really sucks fishing with line where an awful impending backlash is in the back of your mind when you're casting because it takes a toll on your confidence when slinging the frog. This stuff even leaves me with backlash when I thumb the spool and have the breaks cranked up! It always gets wrapped into unthinkable knots around the tip whenever I allow it any slack as well, further taking away from fishing time. I can't believe I have let myself put up with this crappy line for over a year and will be switching back to power pro.

From: Hayden: California 6/22/18

Comments: Terrible frays like crazy and also gets faded in a week, i'll stick to power pro.

From: Zach: 5/16/18

Comments: Terrible braid, color bleeds after a week and you get knots in your line like crazy, also it is very soft and breaks easily. stick with power pro.

From: Zach: Florida 3/8/18

Comments: this line bleeds so bad! I used the 40lb for deep water fluke and sea bass jigging. On the first drop got a black seabass. While reeling up there was green water and dye flying off the reel. It stained my clothes, my boat and my reel. Happened every retrieve after. Dont ever use this line in saltwater.

From: Eli: boston 8/31/17

Comments: Smoothest strongest braid I've used I would recommend this line to anyone. Also very sensitive

From: Unknown 7/18/17

Comments: This is the worst line ever. I bought the 50 pound test and it brakes under about 13 pounds and I have only used it once. Buy P-line tcb braid or P-line 8 strand tcb braid it is much better.

From: Chris Bass: Jackson, TN 7/11/17

Comments: Absolute junk! It tangles in knots more than any braid I've ever fished. I've had some come un-braided, it doesn't cast as far as other braids etc and loses color faster. Here's the only braid review you'll ever need to read, you ready? You reading? Paying attention? There's a braid on the market called power pro. Heard of it? Good, buy it. There's no need to venture off and try anything else it's the best. There. Done. Real simple.

From: MetatronStar: So Cal 7/5/17

Comments: Thought I'd give it a try. Removed after 3 times out. Wraps around the rod tip really bad, color fades fast and just over all not to my standard. Maybe just stuck on power pro. I'm sure there are people that don't like power pro either, but for me it's the best.

From: Chris: Michigan 6/12/17

Comments: I recently purchased the 15lb line to use for fishing at my FL vacation home. I used this line on a Daiwa Tatula CT with great results. The biggest problem I always have with braid was it setting into itself and impairing casts. I had very few of these during my 7 days fishing. I caught multiple 3 & 4 pound bass and a couple mudfish/bowfin on this as well. I am very pleased with the line and will continue to use J8 braid. Another awesome product from Daiwa.

From: Ryan: NJ 5/23/17

Comments: Was not very happy with this braid. It kept running out of the reel very fast and stopping itself mid cast. I adjusted my reel hoping to make it work since I have heard lots of good things about the line. I am pretty dissapointed.

From: Patrick: Anderson SC 1/19/17

Comments: Good line it just fades faster then power pro and you get this odd green watter (the dye) on your reel and rod and it is very limp

From: Silas: GA 1/9/17

Comments: Strong and has solid knot strength, however, it digs into itself horribly.  I have lost many lures due to the line snapping because the line had dug into itself and jammed up the spool.  Also, the line bleeds its color extremely quickly.  Works best as a backing for spinning reels.

From: Ashton: Dallas, TX 12/21/16

Comments: I have been using the 65# for flipping & punching, you can not beat this braid for the price. Really smooth & quiet, tough as nails, holds up extremely well. You won't be disappointed.

From: John: St. Cloud, FL 10/11/16

Comments: Very smooth braid recommend it for sure. I use it on a Lews super duty with a little 7'6 flippin stick &  it works phenomenally getting those fish out. It also comes out at a very cheap price. 10/10 Try it you will be surprised.

From: Daniel: USA 11/17/16

Comments: Pretty good braid for the price. It's knot strength is alright & casting is pretty smooth. It flips well & doesn't flatten out at all. I'd give it a 7/10.

From: Andy: USA 8/10/16

Comments: Used line for the first time smooth casting line. The only thing that bothered me was the line bleed its color all over the boat after multiple casts.

From: Tony: Sacramento, CA 11/28/15

Comments: By far the best braid out there. Used it last weekend & caught a 9.29, 7.43, and a 4.67 with no problems I got these fish in. But I only paid 11.99 for 150 or 160 yards. So price is a little high here buy definitely worth the money to use.
