Comments: 736 Champ for big frogs and flipping. I do that infrequently and it works as it should. I love throwing 5.8 free rigged bull flats and bellows gills with 7/0 gammy G-Finesse hybrid worm hook. Last year, using a 744 extreme and 745 Kaden, I had several fish own me by plowing into think grass when I'm targeting them in the outside weed edges into deeper water stroking/hopping the 5.8 gill plastics. This 736 solves that problem. Drag almost locked with 20# Samurai flouro.

Comments: Just do yourself a favor and buy a 735 - I've been using mine all year for jigs, worms, and frogs. I don't have heavy vegetation so it works great. If I were to fish matted vegetation I would go 736. I love my 735 with a Sprinker frog. When they eat it, the rod loads up quickly and allows me to handle them. Softer rods just don't cut it. My next Champ XP will most likely be a 6104 for skipping docks, spinnerbaits, and lighter TX rigs.

Comments: Started off with Sierra's and jumped up to the Champion XP. I'm glad I did, but the Sierra definitely has its place in my arsenal. It's an excellent rod for moving baits! Where the Champion is better for bottom contact baits. It has a faster action than the Sierra and it's definitely noticeably more sensitive. I own the DC733sf and DC733c. I know I said this rod is better for bottom contact baits vs the Sierra, but the 733c is an amazing rod for 4.8 Keitech's on a 5/0 Owner Flashy Swimmer. Using a braid it has enough backbone to set the 5/0 hook, but has enough tip to launch a Keitech. It's great for a 3.8 also. Both of the 3 power spinning and casting are excellent for a weightless Senko. Really this is a good utility rod, although I still think the Sierra is more versatile due to its more moderate action. If I could only choose one it would be the Sierra. I'm not sure you're getting that much more for the price difference. These rods are extremely balanced, which makes them feel lighter than they actually are. The weight on the 733sf is 4.84 oz, and the 733c is 4.92 oz. Balance is more important than weight. Balance can make a heavy rod feel light, and make a light rod feel heavy. Dobyns knows how to balance a rod. I'd highly recommend the Champion XP! I plan on getting a few more

Comments: If you only want to buy one champion make it s DC 735c. Its pretty much a t-rig to frog rod. I love it for swim jigs and chatter baits as well. If dobyns only sold 5 rods this would be on the list.

Comments: I got my first Dobyns rod a few years ago. It was the Fury 734C all purpose, then I got a frog rod 735C. They were so good I tried the Sierra series, I loved it! I needed a jig and worm rod, so I got a 744C. Like the guy above said. The 744C is a very versatile rod, despite having an extra fast tip, I have used it for swim jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, swim baits on 3/8oz jig heads, Carolina-rigs, and Tokyo rigs. Don't underestimate the 685CB Champion XP, that rig is awesome for jerkbaits, poppers, and 6th Sense Munch 40s, Mini X 25 and Curve Finesse Squarebills, in fact, I wouldn't hesitate to throw a Squarebill 1.5 on it or even a 2.5. There are many great rods out there, but if you want a solid brand that excels in even the starter rod price point Dobyns is the way to go. The Champion XP line up is about as high end as I'll go. I feel like going higher end isn't necessary for me. The Extreme line is great for bottom contact, due to the sensitivity, but then again, I could feel every tree branch and pebble throwing jigs and mag worms with the 744C. It's all relative Dobyns just has so many great options, but the Champion XP line up gets my vote!

Comments: The 744 has become my favorite rod in the boat during 2021. I originally bought it for only jigs. This year I started throwing 10" worms, 3/8 + 1/2 chatter baits, 2.5 square bills, 3/4 Red Eye Shads, and 1/2 double colorado spinnerbaits. Paired with a SMOKE S3, 20 lb braid, and 12 lb Berkley Pro leader, the rod telegraphs every vibration and tap. Lighter jigs are fine on the rod when fishing closer to the boat. Half ounce and 3/4 oz jigs can be fished close and far. I bought two more 744 rods this year with the sales. I intend to have a chatter bait, 2.5 square bill and a jig on every time I go out post spawn. My buddy George bought two 744 rods too after trying my rod on the lake.

Comments: I have several Dobyns rods in the Sierra and Fury series and wanted to take the step up into the Champions. It is worth every penny! Very lightweight, sensitive, and balanced. Those performance aspects of the champions are better than the other rod models and the quality is second to none. I got a 734 FH and it is my favorite rod, definitely plan on getting more!

Comments: Great rods I have several dobyns! Powerful and good hook up ratio! Always been a loomis guy but slowly switch to all dobyns and diawas! From: Blake: berea, KY 8/3/20
Comments: Just purchased a 735 7'3 heavy extra fast to replace my 15 year old Flippin stick. What a difference in weight. Bad shoulders lead me to look for a better option to reduce fatigue. Very happy with the rod. Very light and powerful. First trip out with it to Clear Lake I pulled a 5 abs several 3's out of the tules with ease. The lose of 3" didn't seem to make a difference. Rod was helpful in making precise pitches. Very well made. Could not be happier. Gary Dobyns just seems to know how to design rods with precise actions for what fishermen need.

Comments: I am in the process of switching all my rods to Dobyns. I just got a 733C F/H and I am very very impressed with the rod. I would definitely go up to the champion extreme series if I was looking for bottom contact only; however, I am on a budget and need all purpose rods. With that being said, the 733C is great for just about everything I throw from 1/8 ounce texas rigged senkos to 3/8 ounce spinnerbaits. I really enjoy throwing lighter scroungers on it too. It definitely has a small amount more flex than what I would consider a fast action but I believe that keeps fish pegged on the hook better for me personally. Overall very pleased with the rod so far. Can't wait to catch more fish on it.

Comments: I made a big switch from Loomis to Dobyns. Not because i thought Dobyns was superior i just wanted something different. These rods are not as sensitive as G. Loomis. Nothing is as sensitive as the NRX rods. I am here to tell you though these rods are different in ways that i believe catch more fish FOR ME. When you set the hook, they stay pinned. I believe they have as much tougher build as well. Some guys are careful with their rods, i am not. I need a tough rod. They are surprisingly sensitive though, especially for the price. I am not brand loyal at all but i started with one Dobyns, now i have 14. These rods are freakin good in all aspects, not amazing, not the best but good everywhere.

Comments: I recently purchased the 736. Arrived in great condition from Tackle Warehouse. First impression was that this rod was light, incredibly well-balanced, and very stout. It is also great looking. Also, the guides were straight, which is something I always check for and have had issues with from other makers. On the water this thing did not disappoint. Hooksets are effortless on the frog when using this rod, and then you have a TON of power to drag the bass over to you. I also used it to throw the Plopper 130 and it flings that heavy lure effortlessly. I LOVE this rod. One note of caution: if you are using this for frogging, it doesn't load so well on your lighter frogs. But I usually use the big Live Targets (3/4 ounce) and it casts those very well.

Comments: I picked up the 744C " Jig Special " and it's fantastic. It's becoming my favorite and for good cause. Light, balanced, great feel and the perfect extra fast action. It has it's own signature feel compared to my 735C. I'm impressed.

Comments: Dobyns are great rods, they have anything model you could ask for. I own the 704c & the 735c, in my opinion the split grip is much more sensitive & just an all around better rod. Try these rods you won't be disapointed.

Comments: Dobyns rods are hands down the best rods I've come across. I'm a rod junkie. I own 49 rods & am in the process of switching to nothing but Dobyns. Gary Dobyns has perfected the bass rod! It doesn't matter whether you get the savvy, champion, champ XP, or the extreme. The handle, taper, the way all the rods load up, the cork, the keeper, the guides, the look & the quality is all absolutely perfect. I just want to get rid of all my other rods this second and get more dobyns! I'm hooked
