Overview

Gliss Supersmooth Monotex Line is a revolutionary new line in a class of its own. It delivers the many of the same properties as mono in that it features a single strand construction, is super pliable, casts very well, and it floats, yet it still has many of the advantages of braid as well, including zero stretch, extremely thin diameters, and incredible strength. It is constructed through a breakthrough process that involves the extrusion of High Modulus Poly Ethelyne fibers developed during a 5-year process. Gliss Supersmooth Monotex was also performance-tested by Elite Series and FLW Tour anglers, including Fred Roumbanis.

“I caught fish with Gliss that I could not have caught with other line” says Roumbanis. "The softness of the line produces superior castability resulting in increased distance I can’t get with braid. The zero stretch of Gliss produces strike sensitivity not achievable in mono or fluorocarbon and with the incredible strength to diameter ratio Gliss is quiet and manageable at strength levels close to braid ... I am convinced this is a competitive advantage for me until the other pros switch to Gliss."

-Round profile
-Tremendous strength to diameter
-High abrasion resistance
-Extreme flexibility
-Exceptionally slick surface profile
-Low water absorption
-Treated to ensure almost unlimited UV resistance
-Made in Japan

It's like an electrical connection. The sensitivity i get with 12lb gliss a 7' med/lite kistler helium spinning rod and 2500 stradic is like an electrical connection between my hand and my bait for any finesse presentation. I use the FG knot to a leader (using 30 wraps) no matter what bait I'm throwing. I've never had an issue with breaking, sensitivity is better than braid, it cuts through the water effortlessly and casts 2 miles.

Comments: These people snapping off must be either reel snags or snapping at weak knots. You need a super strong knot for this slippery line.

From: Unknown: 9/2/23

Comments: BFS Curado is were it's at. I really like this line and after about 2 years of use on spinning gear, and understanding you must check for line fray often I decided to try on my BFS reel with a 7'L XF rod. Casting has improved even more, and it seems line fray has been greatly reduced. Gliss to FC Sniper is my setup. Recommend for both spinning and BFS setups.

Comments: I've fished Gliss since it's inception. SO FEW people realize, because it's so small, it will slip through the gap in a hook's eye, leaving you with the impression that it just broke. It's Dyneema; one of the strongest materials on Earth. It doesn't break easily. It does fray with use and it's definitely not for everyone but used for the right application, this is great stuff. I remedy the hook eye slipping problem by simply leaving an old palomar of mono on my hook's eye. You will NOT outcast the stuff, I promise.

Comments: PSA!!! TO THOSE WHO ARENT EXPERIENCED WITH DELICATE LINE PLEASE DONT GET UNLESS YOU RESEARCH!!! Get rods with really really nice guides actually feel the edge of the inserts This line is not meant for structure it was literally purely developed for Aji or shore jigging or slow pitch. The thin diameter is not meant at all for cover because of the thin fiber like material it cuts very easily on structure. Those who have casting issues if the line touches the blank it frays. If you have issues with it breaking mid cast make sure that your top guide doesn't poke out even the smallest edge will fray as well as your reel doesn't have a small edge for the line guide. This line is for experienced slow pitch and aji fishermen. I've been using this line for about 5 years if you fumble with the line and play with it trying to tie a knot and the fibers come undone it has the chance to break. I've landed a few 23lb halibut off of 12lb in the past 4 years. Great braid for those who know how to handle things delicately. Extremely sensitive and easy to get the scope out when fishing deep. Also just tie fg or the pr knot literally the best know if not doing a splice. Way way way better for your guides!

From: Mike: California 8/18/21

Comments: Cast's very smooth, nice color. Nice diameter. Not very abrasive proof. Have gotten snagged and popped the rod and the line snapped. 150yd spool is to small, shouldn't have that small of a option.

From: Brandon: CA 4/3/21

Comments: I have 24ib green monotek, I have a love hate relationship with this line, this line casts great and very smooth, it is very strong, I caught a goose at night and reeled it in, to set it free, so it is very strong in my opinion. I've used it for about 3 months, very frequent, caught a 7Ib catfish, and almost 5 Ib largemouth, and it got em on bank fine. Now for the hate part, I have lost, I believe 2 frogs and a whopper plopper, from casting and my reel locking up, and the line snapping and sending my lures flying in the yonder!! So annoying. I tie a Palomar knot, and I would say the reel shouldn't lock up, but the line should be able to take it. I have 10Ib copolymer line, and 17 Ib braid and have never had it happen on them. But because of the cast ability, and the strength, I probably will buy it again, I will probably just make sure to trim the line a lil more frequently to try and avoid the lure loss.

From: Clinton: Tennessee 8/23/18

Comments: Gliss is approx 1/3 the diameter of braid and I have used Gliss for over a year ( I use it 5-8 times a month on a lot of reels spinning and baitcasters) and have caught 15lb reds (18 & 27lb test green), large bass, trout (5lb on top water), perch and a 15 lb Jack Crevalle using 40lb test white the other day. I fish it with a 20lb fluro leader most of the time and also throw it straight with a fluke. The line has less abrasion resistance than braid but RE TIE your line every now and then as you should do with any line. The line should not break but is apt to wind knots with the spinning reel. If you are flipping wood use braid or a fluro leader and if around rocks ALWAYS use a fluro leader. Tight lines!

From: Raymond: Baton Rouge, LA 7/13/18

Comments: I like the stuff...really divisive reviews here, which is interesting. I've fished the 40# clear a lot for inshore rockfish and lingcod, and I've fished the 24# green for largemouth bass at Clear Lake. I like the stuff, it's very strong and extremely sensitive, I've used it for bottom baits, reaction baits and topwater, and it's all worked acceptable to great. I've had a few break-offs, but never with something where I thought to myself "It's the line's fault."  I agree durability is not the best, but I've managed to lift fish thrashing at the side of a kayak with some pretty frayed up string. Same thing happens to any fishing line though, it gets a little ratty from fishing cover, or toothy fish, so cut off an re-tie. Maybe my re-tie frequency went up a little, but not enough to dull my confidence in what the product is providing to me. Keep it up Ardent/WFT, this line is a unique and useful tool in any anglers arsenal.

From: BassManDan: North CA 5/18/18

Comments: It should be called Glass. It is as smooth as advertised, and as fragile as the other reviews state. I tried this and had it snap on casts, on flips and even while sitting in the boat, the hook in the rod hook keeper and a strong wind blew. I burned threw a bunch of hooks, plastics and weightsin a few hours before pulling it all off my spool. Never again.

From: Dpuck311: West Orange, NJ 3/23/18

Comments: I've got the 18lb gliss on a 2500 and 8 foot all star jig rod and its been incredible. Casts super far and smooth and have not had it break on me yet. First impression was that it was tough to cut the line with my clippers. I tie it with a palomar to a swivel, has never broken or came loose. Just bought the 24lb for another spinning reel too. I use it at my local lake for redfish and take it down to Corpus Christi for some saltwater action. The only think I don't know about it is the longevity this line will have. That's my only concern as of now

From: Atticus - San Antonio, TX 3/15/18

Comments: This line is not worth the money, broke off setting the hook twice , knot did not slip , maybe I tied it wrong, but a Palomar knot, never slipped on a drop shot on my end , it broke off it cast great but I lost to fish cause it broke off right as I set the hook .

From: Johnny: Odessa Texas 2/26/18

Comments: This line has an extremely low diameter for any given lb test, is super smooth, casts better than braid and comes off the spool better than braid. The only draw-back is that the abrasion resistance is terrible. This means you need to use a leader. I have my stick bait combo (Punkers, Amazons, etc) set up with 40# gliss with about eight feet of 20# mono for the leader. It is FANTASTIC. Casts a mile and has no streatch at all. It's not for every situation but it is excellent for topwater baits if you use a leader. Use an FG knot, Bob Sands knot or similar for the Gliss to leader transition.

From: David: Austin, Republic of Texas 11/15/17

Comments: I fished the 18 lb. in Green for a morning.  Just a couple hours that morning because my experience was AWFUL.  This claims to have great cast range, but flouro cast better on the same set up.  Worst is the durability...it has none.  First fish I caught on this line broke off right at the boat as I was lifting it in.  Thankfully the fish landed in the boat and my lure was a floating lure that I was able to retrieve.  Three casts later I snagged on a submerged branch.  Before even tugging, yanking, swearing, or praying to get the snag free the line broke off again.  Where it broke the water was shallow so I was able to locate and salvage my lure.  At that point I called it quits on this stuff, spent the better part of 30 minutes pulling it off and spooling on fresh line.  Would not recommend.  Waste of $15 and nearly cost me another $30 in lures.  Basically looks and feels like fishing with tooth floss (but I bet that would have been more durable).

From: Unknown 11/6/17

Comments: I purchased 18 lbs. gliss line, yesterday. Installed it on my 6.3:1 ratio Abu Garcia last night, with a swivel, and 110 whopper plopper. Went to the lake this morning to try out my new line. Low and behold, about 20-25 casts in.... line snaps and had to go get my lure. Re rigged my lure on gliss line, make about 8-10 more casts and lure keeps going (line snaps). Go get it again (to my thinking, maybe I didnË™t tie it on good). So, I rig it again. About 20 casts in I see the line starting to fray about 20 ft from my lure. Reeled line in to the fray, cut it about 10 inches  back, rerigged line again ( trying to give the line benefit of the doubt). Make 5 casts, then, BAM hard hit on the lure (of a large mouth bass), set the hook, SNAP..... line breaks again, and bass swims off with my $25 lure set in its mouth. Guess I should of learned after the first break of the line. I liked the smoothness of the the line...... But the line is GARBAGE- DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! It ended up costing me around $35 to $40 and very irritated the rest of the day!

From: Gary: Nashville, TN 10/14/17

Comments: Love it! Don't understand why so many people are having problems with this line, maybe their knots are slipping? This line has the best strength to weight ratio, is smooth and it casts a mile. After trying many different braided and mono lines Gliss is thinly line I use now!

From: Wess: Eagan, MN 10/4/1

Comments: Horrible.  Every time I tried setting the hook on a 2-3 pound bass with 8lb test it would snap. Great for panfish.

From: Unknown 6/29/17

Comments: Very dissatisfied with Gliss. I've had many lures break off from a cast and no the knot didn't come untied it was an obvious break. It had multiple back lashes between finesse fishing and tossing jigs and cranks. It was a waste of money. It doesn't come close to the strength it claims to have

From: Jbell850 6/23/17

Comments: Just picked up the pink 18lb gliss, put it on a brand new lews bait caster and headed to the water. First impressions: way thinner than expected, very hard to tie, Splits and separates way too easily. Anyway, I went out and stared bass fishing, after a few cast I threw on a jig and tossed it out, in mid air the line snapped, not even close to my not and not close to the rod just the middle of my line. Boom jig lost. Later on I threw on another jog and accidentally got it stuck on a tiny tree branch, with 18 pound I should've been able to snap the branch but instead no, my line snapped easier than 8 pound mono would. I usually fish in the bay and could not possibly see this working there, oyster shells and sand would easily abrase it and cause breakage. All in all do not recommend, very disappointed with this product and already took it off my reel, keep in mind it was only on there for about 2 hours, biggest waste of 14$

From: Unknown 6/18/17

Comments: I bought this line from my local retailer and i was not impressed with this line. I got about 3 or 4 fish on it and I would break off on the next one not very abrasion resistant at all but super smooth casting 3 out of 5.

From: Unknown 6/12/17

Comments: I really like this stuff, but understand that some folks have had issues with abrasion resistance.  I have not. Here's why I think that is: compare the diameters of Gliss to other lines on the market.  What would you say is the most comparable line to Gliss on the market?  Probably Nanofil, right?  Note that 40 lb Gliss and 17 lb Nanofil have EXACTLY THE SAME diameter.    Now compare that diameter to standard mono.  We're talking the same diameter as 6 pound mono here.   Given that, and given that many folks are probably not using the heaviest rated Gliss, I don't think it's much of a surprise that abrasion resistance has been an issue.  As strange as it sounds, I think Ardent made a mistake with their line ratings here.  They have a line that's incredibly strong for its diameter, but by rating it at what I think is probably its true breaking strength, they've angered a lot of anglers who are used to buying lines that break at a significantly higher level that the one for which they're rated. So try the 40 lb - it's still amazingly thin - and I suspect you won't have the same issues as some others have had.

From: Andrew: Minneapolis, MN 5/31/17

Comments: Amazing line. The only problem I have with it. It's not very abrasion resistant. In fact not at all. Where I'm from about 90% of The lake has rocks, weeds and other objects under the water. I found after about 10 to 15 cast it would have some nicks in it where you could see it splitting. Other then that it's great line and cast a mile. So in my opinion I give it a 4 out of 5 and will stick to nanofil for my spinning rods.

From: Joe: Moses Lake, WA 5/19/17

Comments: The word game changer is thrown around a lot but it absolutely applies here. This stuff is truly remarkable. I wouldn't be surprised if I added 30+% to my casting distance. It's a bitch and a half tying a leader to it though because it's so slick and thin but it's absolutely worth the trouble. Just be damn sure it's not slipping.

From: Aaron: wichita 4/25/17

Comments: Not impressed with this product at all. after loosing multiple jigs i finally gave up on it and respooled my reel with nanofil. Waste of 14 dollars as far as im concerned.

From: Unknown 2/28/17

Comments: Like previous review I have broke off a lot of fish. In fact I have broke off more fish in a single day using Gliss than ANY other line. Ever. This is the 40 LB Gliss. I am using recommended knots. It is absolutely absurd how 40 LB line can be so fragile. Maybe it will work in completely and I mean COMPLETELY open water and fishing top water but anything more than that and you will end up very frustrated.

From: TickedOff: Florida  1/31/17

Comments: Used the 12lb green on a 3000 Stradic with light tube jig head.  Line management was excellent, but I broke off on at least 5 fish over a day and a half.  Very disappointed in this product, returned the other Gliss products I had ordered and threw away the rest of the 12lb spool.

From: Thad: Eden Prairie, MN 12/12/16

Comments: Been using 18lb pink on spinning reel all spring. Caught largemouth early with no issues. Went to Canada first week of June and caught numerous smallmouth to 19". Casts far, quiet, no problems with leader connection. Now using in local creek. Have not seen any of the problems mentioned by others. I consider it a finesse line on 20 size spinning reels with lures to 1/8 oz.  I do not overfill spool & I trim a few feet from end periodically. Satisfied and wifi buy more. For heavier applications, I like Ohero braid.

From: Stephen: Zionsville, IN 6/30/16

Comments: Just spooled up some of this stuff while keeping the reviews in mind. The stuff is thinner than I realized. It casts super far as you would expect with the thin diameter. It acts like braid in many ways minus the multiple strands braid is made from thus making it quieter. The thing I was worried about was the abrasion resistance. I caught a two and a half pound bass and horsed him in and the line showed no fraying above the lure. I then accidentally cast into a tree and the line wrapped around a limb. I then thought this to be a perfect way to check its durability. I started snapping the line violently to get it out of the tree. It took 5 or 6 hard snaps but the line finally cut through the limb. I checked the line and it showed no marks whatsoever. I'm hoping they make some higher pound test so I could switch out all my braid.

From: John: WI 6/26/16

Comments: I've been using 24lb for my finesse fishing on a spinning reel & 40lb on my casting reel for swim jigs, some cranks & chatterbaits. I'd recommend tying a mono leader on the reel & use a double uni knot to tie on your gliss. Then you have to use a Palomar knot tying on to the lure. I've used it every time & never once had a slip. They put the instructions for these knots right on the back of the package to remind you. I'm not too worried about the fray issue. It usually only frays right near the lure, so it's not a big deal to retie when I need to. I like using the heavier lines, they're very thin so I don't see the point in using the lighter test lines. I haven't had any breakoffs yet but I'm not throwing gliss into logs, stumps, or rocks. Just seems so thin to try that stuff. This stuff is incredible to cast though! I have way less backlash with it than braid on my caster. Overall I'd rate the line an 4/5. id like it to have more versatility in heavy cover but the casting distance and strength with that small diameter have me ordering more

From: Brian: WI 5/31/16

Comments: I have been using Gliss about since it came out and really love it casts great low stretch & goes through the guides very quite. If you haven't tried it go ahead & do it you won't be sorry this is the next generation of line.

From: Joe: Yantis, TX 5/31/16

Comments: I see several reviews regarding splitting with Gliss line. I too had an issue with this, come to find out my issue was my rod not the line...had a small nick in the eye. might check that. I also found that on my bait casters try using heavier 45 lbs for great long casts. Personally I would use the 12 lbs unless crappie fishing or something small. not for bass, 24 seemed the best for spin cast rods. As far as knots go, I use double Pal on hooks and uni to uni on tying leaders. Hope my tips help you

From: Central: MO 5/26/16

Comments: Have used Gliss on both spinning and casting rods for past 6 months, have landed 20 lb redfish on the 12 lb test, I love the line, it cast like bullet, has great feeling. I use a 18"-24" piece of fluorocarbon which I attach with a double uni knot, no problems with this setup at all

From: Ray: LA 5/26/16

Comments: I have been using the 18lb translucent colored Gliss line on two different set ups. I have it on my wacky/shaky head spinning set up & I have it on my cranking baitcast set up. I have had the same gliss line on both combos for about 4 months now. It is phenomenal on the crank set up. With its higher poundage & super thin diameter my cranks get deeper then ever before. (Most people don't think to use it for this but it's awesome. I'll never choose anything else.) & with the spinning set up it has worked great for me as well. I mostly fish wacky on that combo but when I do switch to a shaky head I can feel every bit of the bottom while working it. Even the smallest fish when they come up to nibble I can feel every peck. You will not get better casting distance out of any other line. And has the same level of sensitivity as braid if not better because of the thinner diameter.

From: Xander: Round Rock, TX 5/25/16

Comments: I've finally found a thin diameter braid that is super strong & casts like a dream. I was having trouble with knots at first & was a little frustrated. Tying directly to my lure, I doubled the line through the hook & then wrapped it around both lines 10 times & then back through. Don't know what the knot is called but you have three tag ends to cut. For the leader, I gave up on the FG knot & went to the double uni knot. I can't believe how it increased my hook ups and eliminated line twist. I used to use spider wire but found Gliss casts much better. Just like any other line I noticed wear or discoloring after a day of catching. Not one to leave anything to chance, I cut off the last 10' or so and re tied my leader. Super happy with this line & just placed another order because I want Gliss on every reel. Love it!

From: Jradams32: Bentonville, AR 5/25/16

Comments: I have been using the 12lb for drop shot applications. I love the way it cast & the feel is incredible. The line is super smooth. Reminds me of dental floss. The flaw I found was that the small diameter of the line tends to cut through your knot eventually. I use the recommended Palomar knot & have had issues. I also went to a swivel & that seems to delay the problem, but leader to Gliss would break the know sooner. Went to the 40lb problem solved. I love this line for spinning but not for baitcasting. Again the small diameter causes the line to bury itself in the reel on hook sets. Overall I would rate the line as a 7 on a 1-10 scale. I will continue to use this line but only 24lb & above.

From: Josh: Hamilton, MI 5/24/16

Comments: I have Green Gliss 40lb test on my baitcasters for flipping open water & heavy cover & I use it for fishing in depths of 1 foot down to 20ft, this Gliss line has extreme sensitivity & strength & increases my casting distance. When I'm using this line for flipping I always use a double palomar knot with a vmc heavy duty hook & I'm yet to loose a fish from my line breaking, however this line does tend to fray, especially in heavy cover, but I still have not broke a fish off because of it. When the line frays it's typically close to the hook so I will just cut a foot or so off & retie, I usually retie often anyways especially in heavy cover. I would definitely recommend this line!

From: Bob: USA 5/23/16

Comments: This is an all around fantastic line, it is a mixture between mono & braid with the great features of both. Above all you have an outstanding casting distance, this line is extremely smooth. There is also no stretch, this helps my hook sets by a lot. With this line you need to tie a braid knot such as the palomar, with this knot you will have no problems breaking off or having your knots slip. I have very good abrasion resistance while using this line. When I first used this line I was very impressed, I now use this line on all poles & put this line through several tournaments each month with no problems. I also don't have the problem of my line color fading like I did on other lines. Overall this is a great line and I'm very impressed. Try this line out and you will not be unimpressed.

From: Hunter: USA 5/23/16

Comments: Had no problems with the 12b yellow & the 24lb crystal, both used on spinning reels. I do admit that the greatest flaw in this line is the abrasion resistance. But it really increases casting distance & is quieter. You can also see a lot of bites with the bright colors. Overall worth $14.99

4/26/16

Comments: Ive been using this line all spring in the 40 lb test & although it handles great & seems to resist abrasion very well it doesn't seem to handle the impact of a hard hookset at all. Lost 3 fish & lures on the hookset with this line and i was using a palomar which was reccommended. Very disappointed with this line.

4/16/16

Comments: Gave it a try. No problem with knot slippage using a double Palomar or breakage. Outer coating wears away quickly allowing individual fibers to separate (similar to untwisting a wound nylon twine) which come back together when wet but separate again when dry. Very sensitive & I caught fish, but didn't care for the separating thing. Re-spooled with fluoro after 8 hours.

From: Ray: Paulina, LA 4/6/16

Comments: I tried the 24lb for my smaller plastic baits the only good thing I can say about this line is that it is very sensitive and light but other than that worst line ever. It got so bad I was getting 1 clean cast for every 8 cast, do yourself a favor and buy another line if you wanna fish worst line ever.

From: Danny: Hickory, NC 3/13/16

Comments: Just tried the 11kg and must say it was very impressive with the wind over the shoulder, but oh my what a disappointment when the wind changed direction and it became a onshore cross wind. Wind Knot after Wind knot, being so fine, you can forget about picking it out. I will never use this line again after it spoiled a few good sessions, disappointing end to a good start. The good thing about this is I discovered how good the Daiwa j braid is, super silky, supple & casts just as far as Gliss without any wind knots or other drama's.

From: Dave: Australia 2/23/16

Comments: I was able to get some at ICast & I have never had line snap so much in one day that I just put the rod away. 12lb line

From: Austin: FL 1/2616

Comments: Bought the 40lb test and fished it on baitcasters. I had no issues with backlashes. The 2 did have there was no need to pick it out, the line is so small & slick you can just pull it out. Caught 4 bass on a swim bait rigged weedless & had no problems with hookups. It never frayed & the know never slipped. I would recommend this line.

From: Mike: TX 1/14/16

Comments: I bought the 18lb Gliss in transparent color & so far I'm loving it on my spinning reels. I don't recommend it on a baitcast reel. I had terrible luck with it there. On the spinners however, I have increased casting distance, a quieter line & better bite detection. I'm running a 6' 12lb fluoro leader and having great success with it. I'll be buying more of this line & in a higher strength since the diameter is so small.

From: Tim: Folsom, CA 12/23/15

Comments: Talk about sensitive. This gliss is awesome. Definitely my go to for deep water structure. Caught fish in 75ft of water like I was fishing shallow.

Comments: Tried the 24 lb & found it fragile. Although smooth & great for distance, it still broke off like the fire line. My knot held, but the line snapped. After loosing a few baits and fish, decided the cost savings was more than made up for in the cost of replacing my tackle. If you decided to try it, try something more than the 24 lb or you will be disappointed. Bought two spools & they are no longer on the reels

Comments: Bought the line in 18 lbs test for my spinning reel. At first glance, the line was amazing: 10+ more yards on casts, no noise from the guides, and ultra sensitive. However, its fatal flaw is abrasion resistance. If you accidentally throw your lure over a tree branch, rub against a rock, or look at the line the wrong way, it'll fray & break off on your next fish. If you plan on fishing waters without much structure, then by all means, go ahead. However, if there's anything that may cause abrasion, be sure to use a fluoro/mono leader & check your line for frays very often.

Comments: Pros: Super small diameter, long casts, quiet, very sensitive, no memory. Cons: Poor durability- lasted about 5 trips. Frays, unravels and quickly looks like floss, breaks easily- line is so thin, it catches in the winds of the reel and stops the spool. Line snaps and lure goes flying! Probably better for spinning reels. Does not inspire confidence when using an expensive lure.

Comments: I like it! I purchased this line from England & had it shipped international mail back when I first heard about it from Fred Roumbanis. I picked up the 40lb spool. I have been using it on a heavy action rod throwing soft plastics & chatter baits & find it is so smooth & gives me almost no issues. My first bonafide catch with this was a 4lb smallmouth flipping deep grass on Oneida which I proceeded to underestimate & boat flip. The line held up just fine. I can say though, don't use this line if you're not a good knot tyer. You will lose rigs due to slippage if you are trying basic knots. I use an improved uni-knot on this & make sure to go for 5-7 wraps making sure to go around the hook eye twice. Just my two cents. I can't speak for it's abrasion as I've only really used it in the grass.

Comments: bought the 8# for spinning reel & 40# for casting reel. Holy crap, Batman! Spectacular distance, I have to palm the spinning reel to keep the weightless trick worm from flying too far. Smooth through the guides on the casting reel. Double Albright to the leader and fishing fool or San Diego jam knot to terminal tackle haven't failed yet. Gliss does flatten at the knot but no problems so far. Super sensitive, I have to wait a little to set the hook the line is so quick. Since I use a leader i haven't experienced any fraying yet so i can't comment on durability. but overall i'm switching 5 of the spinning reels and 2 of my braid reels to Gliss. I still prefer mono & fuoro for the rest of my baitcasters. Awesome line Ardent!

Comments: I bought this line with the hopes of flippin around grass edges (not punchin) with a beaver style bait. After only a few hours the line was frayed and I broke off before I really started paying attention. I think it has potential for other applications because it is strong but for me their will have to be improvements before I swith from Fluoro or Braid.

Comments: This line is awesome! I used to use Suffix 832 braid on my spinning reels, but now I'm going with 24lb Gliss. Its smoother than braid, so you don't get that dragging sound in the guides that braid has. Its just as sensitive as braid and very strong. Plus, the 24lb Gliss is THINNER than 10lb braid, for about the same cost! Get some and try it. You'll be glad you did.

Comments: First of all, this is not a braid. It's a series of straight ultra fine fibers put together like a piece of untwisted rope. For this reason, it has no surface texture like a braid. This enables very long super smooth casts that are almost completely silent. This line is very slick, so at first, I was concerned that the line would bury itself into the windings on the reel, but so far that has not been the case, at least while reeling in a 4lb bass using 24lb line (.007") The line knots well, even with the FG knot, but remember that this stuff is extremely slick, so it took a while to master without it sliding apart. The line can also flatten out where it enters the knot, and subsequently loose it's strength at that point. I prefer the Albright knot for this line, especially when tying in the field. So what are the cons? Well, since it's not a braid, backlashes will be almost impossible to pick apart with any kind of tool. It's also not very abrasion resistant, and will start to fray, which is quite visible, so there is ample warning that it's time to trim off 5' or so. So the bottom line question is "Would I buy it again?" Yes! BTW, I've used this on baitcasters, spinning reels and spincast very successfully.

Comments:  I purchased Gliss in the 12 lb spool and put it on my medium spinning rod. Lets just say I am very disappointed in the product, I lost 3 wacky jigs in a row on hookset. Terrible line. I will never buy again.

From: Jarid: MN 8/26/15

Comments: Jury is still out on gliss, used it today on the upper bay. 24lb on my pitching rod and my chatterbait rod, line on the pitchin rod held up well even after working docks. Chatterbait line seem to fray like braid don't know if it's from backlashes or what. It is super thin and strong but we'll see

From: Dave: Sykesville, MD 8/22/15

Comments: I am very impressed with this line. I tried the 40lb with a 1/2 oz buzzbait in the weeds. I had no problem hooking and boating multiple 4-5lb bass. IMO, casts much easier and less backlash than 832 braid. The 24lb on spinning gear casts very well and is very strong. I'm a fan.

From: Kurt: Surprise, AZ 8/12/15

Comments: Just purchased and installed this 18 lb. line. Extremely small line diameter. 40 lb. Gliss is same size as 10 lb. Seaguar Invisix. Be aware that you will need to measure the amount of line you wish to install. Do this by making the longest cast possible with your existing line. then cut it off at the reel and install your Gliss. Having said this I am extremely disappointed with this line. I had it installed on a KVD tournament reel with the KVD power launcher rod with a Strike King 5XD crank bait. This line kept breaking off during the cast & once when it hit an underwater snag. It was not breaking at the knot but several feet up the line. After having this happen multiple times I finally quit using this reel & will change this line before using it again.

Comments: Purchased this Gliss 12 lb line and spooled up on a new reel & lost 4 light different
Small/mid size bass on 3/8 jigs to broken line in first hour of use. Yes it's smooth and casts well but is not worth loosing tackle and fish to weak line. I have already taken this line off the reel and discarded the Gliss. I was very disappointed.

From: Avid Basser: IL 8/2/15

Comments: Ardent has done a great job with the new Gliss line. Effortless casting and super strong. Ties simple to mono or fluro leaders.

From: Eric: Wind Gap, PA 8/2/15

Comments: Gliss is a game changer. It's the thinnest, most sensitive line I have ever used! it casts further than an line on the market. Gliss is a most have for all tournament and recreational anglers alike.

From: Dave: FL 8/1/15

Comments: Spectacular distance. No durability issues like with nanofil. The knots they recommend on the US packaging are laughable. Learn to tie an FG knot. it is the only way to get close to the package rated breaking strength. The link below is to a stripers online thread created to log my personal experiences with the line as well as others.

From: Scooby: USA 7/30/15

Comments: Gliss line is my new favorite superline! I was able to fit a 150 yard spool of 40 pound on my 13Fishing Concept A and still have room for another 20+ yards! It is exceptionally smooth and casts great. Doesn't make as much noise through the guides as braid but there is some noise. Gliss is just as sensitive as braid at a fraction of the cost. If I had to pick between braid or Gliss, I would definitely choose Gliss!
