Overview
Byron Velvick used the Jerry Rago BV 3D Swimbait in route to a wire-to-wire victory at the 2010 Bassmaster Elites Golden State Shoot Out on Clear Lake, California. Responsible for nearly all of his weighed in fish, including his 10-lb bruiser on Day 1, Velvick used the BV 3D to maintain a substantial lead over the rest of the field. Jerry Rago designed this bait especially for Velvick and Skeet Reese for Clear Lake, and Velvick provided key input, as well as, his name to the bait (BV-Byron Velvick). Featuring incredible detail compared to most other swimbaits, it's a 3D swimbait in a previously 2D world. Jerry Rago has long been known for creating swimbaits that seem to catch fish when others can't, and the Jerry Rago BV 3D Swimbait is another winning creation.
Bassmaster Elite Series Pro and Owner Hooks Pro-Staffer Byron Velvick used the #4 Stinger Harness Rig and Extra Edge Hot Sauce on his Rago BV 3D Swimbaits en route to winning the Clear Lake BASS Elite series event. Byron noted the Stinger Harness Rigs helped him boat some short striking fish. His whopping 98-06 4 day total beat second place by over 6 lbs!
"I put that on my bait every few casts. It created a chum trail that brought the fish to the bait, plus it acted as a lube to make the bait more slippery which helped get a better hook set."
-Byron Velvick

Comments: Disappointed in the bait. They use a plain ziploc type bag to put the bait in and they have the tail bent 180 degrees towards the head on all the baits I received and the tails were warped. They need to spend a little money on packaging and get clam shells or something similar to protect the integrity of the shape of the swimbait and not warp the tail.

Comments: Great look, great action. falls apart after one fish, if your lucky. Mine fell apart after one hit. Took my 2nd one out, threw it around, fell apart without the help of any fish.

Comments: incredibly soft, like I heard Rago baits would be. Scary soft. A little nervous to see how it goes. Beautiful looking bait tho, dont get me wrong. Rago pulls it off at an incredible price. The only concern I have is in design. Maybe its just that Im used to my huds and baits having a split ring or two for me to build my top rig from. These baits are Line thrus, you pass the line thru the top of the head, it comes out the belly, you attatch a trebble hook. To me that just isnt enough. Im used to top rigging, butch brown or hillbilly style. This bait doesnt leave room for that. the only improvement you can make is to add a stinger hook, further back, at the bottom. I want a split ring above the eyes rago, I need my top hook setups.. but please dont get me wrong, its a great bait. top dog for the price.

Comments: This is my favorite soft swimbait, the light Hitch color works at almost every clear water lake. If you want to swim a little deeper stick in a couple of nail weights.
