With the Jewel Bait Hound Dog you can fish in the heaviest brush, where the lunkers hide, and not worry about losing a lure. The Hound Dog Lure Retriever is designed to give many years of service and to save many times its cost in lures recovered. It will retrieve jigs, spinner baits, crank baits, and plastic worms. The Hound Dog Lure Retriever even retrieves live bait rigs, as the design permits it to slip past sinkers, harnesses, and swivels.
When using your favorite lure "Don't get 'Caught' without it!"
Attach minimum 100 lb. test nylon cord to the Hound Dog Lure Retriever. An old level wind reel is ideal for storing the cord. Hold rod tip slightly bent to keep tension on the line and slip line between the rings and the body. Drop the Hound Dog Lure Retriever to the bottom, keeping rod tip bent. Still keeping rod tip bent, lift cord and then drop cord and rod tip at the same time. Repeat if necessary.
Comments: Great and simple lure retriever. I have a very close to 100% success rate with my trusty hound dog. If you are having less than 90% , then you obviously don't know how to use a lure retriever. I have even been able to retrieve 8 inch Hudds with my trusty hound dog. Mine is an old one with no paint on it. I'm not sure why they started painting them but the design is simple and it works very well if you know how to use it.

Comments: It works great although I troll on a windy stump filled lake so I probably only get about 80% of my lures back. I constantly fight the wind. A lot of the lures I use are discontinued so the hound dog is priceless to me! I have it tied on to 1/4" rope so I can really pull. From: Richard: Pittsburgh, PA 11/7/20
Comments: I used this lure retriever several times since I bought it this last spring. I've had about a 50% retrieve rate with it. The thing I found most irritating about it is the orange coating rubs off on everything when you are trying to get your lure back. I had that bright orange color on my lures & my line. It doesn't come off the lures or line and I have to replace the bait, cut off a couple of feet of line and re-tie. Not happy with this product. I bought it to replace a yellow one I had for many years that the coating was powder-coated on and worked better than this. From: Robert: Oregon City, OR 12/7/19
Comments: I bought this based in the great reviews & price point. Upon using it from bank I quickly found out it's useless. You can't get it down to your snag from bank, it does work from my kayak 100%.

Comments: I've tried a few different lure savers over the years... This little pup is hands down the best! I have been using for nearly two years and can't remember a time where it hasn't worked. I have saved hundreds of dollars just in crankbaits. It also works well for swimbaits, texts rigged plastics, hack even jigs & chatter baits. Here to purchase another for the new boat. A must have!!

Comments: This is the best lure retriever I have ever used. Not only has it never failed me with retrieving deep crankbaits, it has also freed single hook swim baits & Texas rigged worms out of tree tops. Only negative is it seems to twist the line or rope that I have attached to it but that is a minor thing. I've saved > $100 worth of crankbaits & swim baits already!

Comments: These are great!! Make sure you buy a few though because they have a tendency to get stuck themselves. Once I used 3 of these to retrieve a Yum Dinger!
From: Cole: Edina, Minnesota 5/19/17
Comments: I highly recommend getting one of these!. I have save over 100 dollars with this easily. Alone I have saved 4 of my swimbaits. Its also good for getting rattle traps and deep diving crank baits!

Comments: This is the first lure retriever that I've ever used. After reading the previous reviews, I decided to purchase one and try it out. This thing has already paid for itself in the lures that I've recovered. If you're tired of losing lures because of hang ups, then you owe it to yourself to get one of these. Also, check out Kevin Shorts' youtube video on it.

Comments: You are a fool without one of these. It even retrieves pegged texas rig tungsten from dam rip rap, I can't remember it ever failing me.

Comments: Works great. Pays for itself multiple times. I'd recommend getting two, lost one(ironically) due to some nasty cover. From: Chris: NC
Comments: Nice, works as advertised. great product. From: Bill: Port Vue, PA
Comments: This thing will pay for itself 10 times in one fishing trip. Great for crankbaits and jigs, has literally saved me $5k and let's me chuck my junk in the thickest of thick with confidence that I can get it back. Best retriever hands down.
