Best frog style lure everCaught my PB 3-10 and am amazed at the action this thing has! Better than most of my spooks at walking and has no issue with hook ups and strikes. Awesome job live target.

Previous Feedback

Comments: Great lure, I've had luck with it in those places where a normal frog doesn't seem to work. Open water, less aggressive fish, or weed edges, this bait will catch them! Caught several quality fish ranging from 2-5 pounds last summer on them.

From: Skylar: Georgia 3/11/22

Comments: One of my new favorite lures. Third cast with it I caught a six pounder. It gets bit & they crush it when they hit it. I haven't had the hook up issues others have had. Also there's no doubt the bass are being fooled into thinking it's a real sunfish. Great lure for big bass.

From: Alex: Missouri 7/20/20

Comments: I LOVE THIS LURE! I've caught my personal best largemouth bass, which is 9 1/2 lbs. The color I got is midnight metallic bluegill. It is pretty much a hollow body frog with a realistic look and body shape. The hooks are VERY sharp and the body is fairly soft. I have had no problem hooking into fish with out bending the hooks out, but you can. This lure has the best walk the dog action (other than a spook) and it's very easy to walk. I use this lure in open water and around shallow grass, not in the slop. Overall this lure is good for the price (even though I bought mine on sale).

From: Isaac: GA 6/3/20

Comments: These get mashed! But the hook ups are iffy at best. I do find the smallest size hooks way more (I do bend the hooks out like you would with most hollow Brady baits).

From: Ted: Gainesville, FL 5/12/19

Comments: Pretty good hollow body lure. Great hooks, but you need to bend them up and out (as should be done with any hollow body lure) to increase the hook up ratio. If you are fishing it in open water or spare vegetation bend the hooks up and out even more. It's amazing how much you can work this lure in near the same spot without moving it closer to you taunting a bass to strike. It darts, dives, jumps, pops over and under cover mimicking an injured or fleeing gill. The only downside to the lure I have found is the weight on the hook doesn't seal the hole in the bottom of the lure super well. So, after a few casts you have to squeeze water out of the lure and secure the lure to the weight so it will float. I wouldn't say it's better than a traditional hollow body frog type lure. I've had more success with frogs... but I've fished them a ton more. This lure offers the fish a different look and action than a frog and definitely catches good fish.

From: MikeD: Grand Rapids 6/9/18

Comments: i dont like this lure i like the walking action the side to side movement like a spook has but i just missed to many fish i bent the hooks up waited for them to get it good and most times then not they just knock it up out of the water

From: Unknown 5/20/18

Comments: pretty good. not the most durable frog but they do catch fish. hooksets arent perfect but it does well. i really like the action i can make with these. i use them in open water or sparse surface vegetation, and i do short, hard twitches to make it jump 5" in one direction, then pause for a couple seconds. some good blowups, and even some deadstick action too. worth the price.

From: Matt: IL 2/1/18

Comments: Walks well and floats well. Only caught a few fish but like it a lot. I like to peg a 1/2 tungsten onto it and flip it on beds where the bass inhale it

From: Bassmaster: Bama 1/18/18

Comments: 2.5 years of own 2 of these livetarget hollow bodies and yet to get one hookset. I use other holliw bodies and i can get a hookset, with no problem. I had to buy stinger hooks this winter, in hopes to finally get a hookset, on one of these lures.

From: Unknown - Illinois 1/2/18

Comments: First time using this bait last sunday the lake forage is shad and bluegill, i use it for couple hour no bite switch to a frog no bite. I retied back to the sunfish pop pop bam!!!!! Hook a 4lber i let it eat for good 2 to 3 sec set the hook land it. Hint: be patient let the fish eat it.

From: Unknonwn: Sacramento 8/24/17

Comments: Plain and simple this lure is an over priced piece of junk. It sails to the left or right on any hard cast, often decides it wants to be a jig instead of a frog, and loses its paint after about 5 fish. I've watched fish come up and swallow the sunfish completely and then set the hook only to have it come off after the first crank of the handle. Considering this isn't the first lure of theirs I've had trouble with I think that LiveTarget needs to start designing their baits to catch fish and not fishermen, until then I wont be buying anymore of their products.

From: Caleb: Maine 8/6/17

Comments: I was very excited to get this bait since most of the forage everywhere I fish are sunfish. After using this bait in multiple rivers and lakes, i was never able to catch a single fish due to the horrible hook up ratio. I eventually lost this bait to a tree but i will never be buying another one.

From: Landen - NC 6/26/17

Comments: I love using the LIVETARGET Sunfish. I was able to catch a nice 3lb largemouth with it, even from the fishing dock. The TROKAR hooks are excellent and clean hookup. I like using the larger 3 1/2" one since I'm trying to land bigger fish. I have noticed hookup issues due to the smaller largemouth bass trying to hit the lure;  Not only is it longer than the 3" one, but its also wider too so it doesnt surprise me that I cant get the hookset for those ones. Anyways, I have noticed some color issues with Natural?Blue Pumpkinseed Color so I've stuck to the Copper Pumkinseed. Great Lure!

From: Suncheng: MN 6/23/17

Comments: Bait casts decent..walks great..but absolutely has the worst hookup ratio I've ever seen. I'm 1 for 15 at this point and will now try bending hooks out or up and see what happens. Live Target needs to fix this issue and they'll have a great bait...otherwise it useless.

From: Bobby: Ft Smith,Arkansas  6/11/17

Comments: If you use them correctly, they can kill almost anywhere, if you don't you will get a lot of misses. The number one complaint people have about the lure is itË™s low hook up ratio, and even though it is true if you use it incorrectly, there are some ways to avoid it. 1.    You should always wait at least 2 seconds to set the hook, so it really gets it in it's mouth. 2.    You can just glue a treble hook to the bottom or raise the top hooks. 3.    To #2 you might say doesn't that not make it weedless? Yes, but I actually never use it near weeds. I like to use it right above a shallow sand bank or A rock pile. It attracts the bass from the bottom to the top to strike.

From: Mike: Vermont 6/6/17

Comments: This lure works great. The body is soft enough to effect great hooksets. I see a lot of guys saying that they're hook up ratio is terrible but that is human error over lure error. You have to wait a minimum of 3 seconds with this lure to get consistent hooksets. Also, setting hook at an upward angle helps. The smaller size works for me but I'm hoping to get a hold of the bigger size to weed out the smaller bites.

From: Christopher: WI 5/28/17

Comments: Best bait ever I was fishing all day waiting tell it got a little bit later in the day and didn't catch anything then I tied on the live target sunfish and after about 5 minutes of fishing I had a fish on the choked it he swallowed that thing. The bad thing is I had old line on and lost it on a fish so I had to buy another one but it's well worth it.

From: Alex: 5/10/17

Comments: This lure has good action but a terrible hook up ratio.  the bass blow up on this lure but only 10% of the time you will actually hook up with a fish. The lure fills up with water very quickly too because the weight at the bottom starts to move around. The paint comes off after a while but it is a good lure in terms of being able to walk it with little effort and the paint job is pretty nice. Livetarget just needs to fix these problems and then, I'll be stocking up on these for the summer.

From: Unknown - 2/23/17

Comments: These things work great. But you need to use them at the proper time. For me they do not replace a frog, they fill different role.Midday, bright conditions in heavy cover this bait will out fish any frog 5 to 1 hands down. They have an action much different than your average frog, and look like an actual sunfish. My partner and i were on the Big "O" today, from noon to 3pm he fished a Livetarget frog,I fished a sunfish. He caught a 4 pounder and lost 2 nice fish,I caught 6 fish from 5-7 pounds. When it got cloudy late afternoon, nix the sunfish and fish the frog.To those not hooking up,you need to let them eat it,count 3 one thousands from the strike to hookset.

From: Jamey: Cape Coral, FL 1/14/17

Comments: I got this lure sometime back and fished it for sometime, yet one of my buddies lost it fishing with it. I've haven't bought another it that says anything, but that isn't because I was not happy about it, it just isn't worth 12.99. I have every color in livetarget's frogs and I love them yet I had a hard time using this over a frog. I found that it was a good lure, yet with the problems of paint and durability I can't justify having one in the tackle bag. If they ever lower the price by a lot and fix paint problem I would buy some more but at the moment it just isn't that special to justify a 12.99 price tag, I would recommend buying one of their frogs over this

From: Brendan: IL  1/7/17

Comments: When i got mine i fell in love with it when i tested it in a pool but the first fish i caught it wouldn't walk the dog and it was sinking. I checked for holes but there were none and no gaps anywhere. I wasn't were happy since im spending more money than i want to to catch one fish...not very impressed.

From: Ian: Texas 11/20/16

Comments: These lures look great & walk in open water very well, but they turn into sinkers rather easily. Hookup rate is rather unimpressive, but around sparse vegetation during a good activity window, it gets bit & gets bit often, although a lot of whiffs. I'll not be purchasing anymore in the future due to ho-hum performance & high price point.

From: KCL: IA 9/14/16

Comments: I understand the problems that many commentators have with this bait. Some of them cannot be changed. Some can. On the "can" side are the hook up ratio and difficulty some have casting this lure.  You can improve the hook up ration by opening up the hooks so they are not tight to the body. Will that make it less weedless? Not by much if you feather your casts before it lands. This increases your chance of landing heavy side down with the hooks upright. If you are still having problems insert some weight in the bottom of the lure. As to castability, there is only some much you can do. It is a flat bait after all. On fix is to slow you cast way down. It will go further that way than cast hard. Doing so also helps with the hooking problem as noted above.

From: Dean: Apple Valley, MN 9/12/16

Comments: Okay I wouldn't dare fish this lure without a heavy action rod & 50 pound braid, but if you have that this lure will work great for you. I fish it slow so the fish can track it and grab it easily and really eat it. As long as you wait a couple of seconds youll stick every fish that touches it, this lure works for me when nothing else will, especially mid day. The paint comes off pretty easily but it still gets destroyed its easily one of my favorite frogs.

From: Zane: OK 8/28/16

Comments: This bait is great if you know when to use it. I don't get as many hits on it later in the day when frogs would. I like using this bait to fish on top of light mats & lily pads when you can hear the bluegill popping underneath them. The body doesn't collapse as easily as I'd like but the hookup ratio is about the same as the average frog. You just have to make sure that you feel them on the end of your line before you set the hook. I've only used the 3.5" & that's all I'll ever fish with.

From: Michael: USA 8/6/16

Comments: So I finally used this bait a few times and it's really growing on me. It's kind of a home run or strikeout bait for me. The hook up ratio is fantastic if you're patient, just like frogs. And the Trokar hooks perform as always. But the hits seem to be YEARS apart. Saying that I've had a 2 lbs average and a 4 lbs fish over the course of 3 trips. I'd recommend this bait for sure, just don't expect a hit on every other cast.

From: Brian: Cleveland, OH 7/19/16

Comments: Save your money people. I have been fishing hollow body top water lures since I have been bass fishing. I can tell you without a doubt that this is the worst hollow body top water lure ever. It fills up with water and sinks mid cast, paint chips & I'm lucky if I even hookup. Stick with the Booyah Pad Crashers & Spro Bronzeye frogs. Once again LIVETARGET puts out a product that is to good to be true.

From: Cody: USA 7/13/16

Comments: Big fan of there frogs, was disappointed in this bait.  Not worth the money either. We fish tournaments every weekend & nobody I know has had a good hook up average. Will it get hit sure. Will you hook them not often.

From: Rooster: WI 7/10/16

Comments: Buy this lure. it's amazing for pressared ponds. When the bass won't eat any top water lure they will eat this. I've caught multiple 5+ fish on this lure including my PB just under seven pounds. My best color is probably copper pumpkinseed.

From: Ethan: Springfield, MO 7/7/16

Comments: Have only tried it once & so far I'm not a fan of this bait. It looks great but casts like crap compared to a frog.

From: Johnny: Torona, Canada 7/1/16

Comments: This bait is a little pricey but I would say that it is worth it. Pros:walks effortlessly, imitates a dying bluegill perfectly, easy hookups, super sharp hooks & flat out catches fish Cons: paint starts to wear away after about 10-12 fishing (but can be fixed with a sharpie) & it begins to take on water about every 15-20 casts. A overall I give this bait a 4.5/5

From: Greyson: AL 6/20/16

Comments: Too many mixed feelings about this lure! (Smaller 3in sunfish)looks great! Walks easy buy poor hook up ratio, that's due to the tail folding back up when a bass engulfs the lure. Fast retrieving will flip & bob the sunfish upside down or in other awkward motion! Casting is not as good as you would with a frog!

From: Hank: WI 6/28/16

Comments: The walking action is not as good I imagined. While it is a very easy bait to walk it lacks the beautiful wide gliding action other frogs, such as the poping pad crasher. The action is more of a bobing/walking action with very tight walk. It is also very easy to walk even to the point where no rod input is required. Just a repeating stop & start of the reel handle is enough to get it to walk. As others have mentioned the belly weight separates from the body of the bait but can be reinserted easily. It's a fun bait but I'm not sure if it is actually a good bait.

From: Daren: IA 6/26/16

Comments: The hook up ratio is 100%. I believe it is because of the Trokar hooks. You don't even have to set the hook very hard & the fish is on. For those that are having hook up issues it may be because you aren't waiting long enough. It walks very well with a slight tug of the line. It casts a long way & easy to move through the lily pads or grass. The paint comes over very easily.  After the first hit you could see the scraps on it.  it fills with water so you have to squeeze it every 4 or so casts.

From: Sean: USA 6/24/16

Comments: It's great at walking but that's about it. It fills with water like crazy & it doesn't cast that well.

From: Colton: Brighton, MI 6/21/16

Comments: The bait casts well, but doesn't hold up like it should. The paint has started rubbing off in some spots. Also, the bait nose of the bait caved in & the hooks/weight came dislodged on the first fish (2.5 lbs). Now the bait takes on & holds water frequently & the eyelet/nose of the bait catches on more scum/pads. The hooks are super sharp & strong, which makes pulling fish out easier & the bait walks very easily with little twitches. But for 13$ I don't think it is worth it yet, maybe with a stronger glue to keep the hooks in places, but now that they came dislodged they foul up easily.

From: Patrick: WI 6/19/16

Comments: Personally I wouldn't get this lure don't get me wrong I love livetarget but think they put so much work into the top side of the bait the side the fish don't see but the side they do see has hooks and a silver lead so I'am just saying I wouldn't get one and yes I do own own it catches fish but not worth $12 dollars

From: Kenny: FL 6/18/16

Comments: It's a great looking bait, easy to walk it, and it can get bites, but that's where the postive attributes stop. Casting is a little awkward because of the bait design but managable. On my first fish (only a 2 pounder) the weight popped out of the bait and the hollow body slid up the line. I placed the weight back in and from there on every cast or two had to squeeze water out. Not to mention the paint started coming off the bait after one fish. If there's any vegetation above the water surface the bait catches on it a lot compared to frogs making this bait a one trick pony for open water only. For $12.99 I expect much more out of a bait. I don't reccomend buying it. Buy a frog instead!

From: Cory: Green Bay, WI 6/8/16

Comments: My experience is solely with the 3" (smaller size) sunfish & the hook up ratio is incredible (~100%). It has no legs like a frog so the only thing the bass can do is take the whole sunfish or nothing at all. The bass in this pond are relatively smaller and aren't big fans of frogs, but can't pass up a baby sunfish on the surface. Caught fish from less than a pound up to 4lbs with it. The 3" is a great bait.

From: Joe: NY 6/8/16

Comments: Used this lure for the first time yesterday & I had mixed feelings. PROS: Very easy to walk & walks very nicely, looks very realistic & irresistible. CONS: Fills up with water after a cast or two, paint chips easily, hook up ratio is poor due to (I believe) water filling the bait & the body not being able to flatten to expose the hooks when the bass hits it. I will definitely be adjusting the hooks to expose them more & hopefully that will change the hook up ratio.

From: Ryan: MN 5/31/16

Comments: For all the "R&D" Live Target supposedly did, the hooking ratio is poor. The smaller bluegill is ok, but the larger size has issues. For the price, it should be excellent, but it falls short. The action is great, but if you can't hook anything, what's the point? It needs to be redesigned, and an exchange rebate for everyone that bought and ordered these. One star for Live target.

From: Kamala: IL 5/24/16

Comments: Add a lake fork trailer to this. It's a bit awkward & not as weedless but it improved my ratio a ton. Nothing is growing in the water up here yet in Northern PA, so I might change my mind later in the season. The presentation & cast-ability if fantastic. I've used it on 2 outings now & it does look worn. But the action is still solid & that's really what gets the fishes attention.

From: Uppy: Mountaintop PA 5/18/16

Comments: Performs as advertised, though there are inconsistencies with these baits. Half of the baits I ordered had perfect hook placement & others had the hooks riding high away from the body, to the point where I would not be confident casting where hollow bodied presentations usually excel.

From: Drew: Australia 5/13/16

Comments: The hooking problem mentioned by other reviews has at least two solutions that apply to all hollow surface baits. First, open up the hooks. While that would seem to make the lure more inclined to catch weeds, that isn't true. If you slow your cast before the lure lands, it will land hooks up. Second, If the first modification doesn't work you can add a small weight to the lure by slitting the lure. Place the weight in the center of the Sunfish so it does not tip it. Close with Mend-it. I use weight strips because they are easier to center than the alternatives..

From: Dean: Apple Valley, MN 5/11/16

Comments: Great looking bait. Easy to walk & skip. Only two problems I have is the weight on the bottom side should be painted & you have to squeeze the water out. But otherwise great bait.

From: Randy: VA 5/7/16

Comments: Finally warm enough to throw this thing. It has outstanding action, you can walk it like 160 degrees and you can make it spit water. Although I'm missing a lot of fishing on it and can't figure out why. I've tried bending the hooks out a little and it might still be a little to early to be fishing topwater. But the action is so good I'll figure it out.

From: JP: Ozarks 5/4/16

Comments: This bait is a great design & gets plenty of blow ups. The action is better than any frog out there, but the hook up ratio is terrible. I've lost over 20 fish on this bait. The fish would kill it & swim with it & even with 65lb braid & a 7'3 heavy rod I can't get the hooks in them. Every hit I get on the frog the fish is hooked. Almost all the paint is gone & the bait has teeth marks all over it but still haven't gotten one fish in the boat. Id rather throw the frog personally if they're hitting topwater they're not gonna care anyways.

From: Drew: Chesapeak, VA 5/3/16

Comments: Very nice looking bait, easy to walk and skip, but the weight is unpainted. I have missed several large bass on this lite, and don't get me wrong, frogs are hard to catch fish with but when I can catch 10 half pounders on a full size bronze eye but I can't hook a five pounder with this? Definitely mixed feeling on this one.

4/19/16

Comments: These are baits are amazing. Super easy to walk, casts a mile, skip well & flat out catch fish. One thing i don't like is that you need to squeeze water out of the bait every few casts but that's not a big deal to me. Also, some people say that the weight should be painted but it didn't affect the performance in my opinion.

From: Kyle: DE 4/5/16

Comments: good action but first time I fished it paint Is almost gone not Happy not for the price paint on frogs last longer & I bought4 2 small ones & 2 big ones unhappy with paint

From: Tim: FL 3/28/16

Comments: I bought this lure and my first day out on my second cast i got a four pound bass! Super impressed on how this lure preforms on the water and the way it looks super realistic! Although it tends to get some water and the paint will scratch from the bass mouth other than that great lure!

From: Sammuel: TX 3/21/16

Comments: I got this bait a few weeks ago. I threw it around some structure when the water got up to 60 degrees. I threw the horny toad at first and was catching some fish. But I threw this thing and never get another bite. I like the concept of s sunfish bait but I don't think it will work. I'll keep throwing it and see if the water needs to warm up more

From: Mike: Hattiesburg, MS 3/11/16

Comments: Just received mine, impressive sunfish imitation, this bait just looks reel, it would be perfect if they painted the weight. The swimming action is very interesting & easy to achieve, it is also easy to cast & skip. Just waiting for spring time to test it on bass & pikes. **Update 5/19/16** I need to come back on my very positive first review. After some use I must say this lure is not practical if you fish from the bank like me. Due to its flat shape this lure has a poor casting distance especially in the wind & I need to set up very carefully the brakes of my baitcaster to avoid braid bird nest. So despite its very imitative look & cool action I would not recommend this bait if you need/like to do long cast like me to find the fish from the bank.

From: Ben: France 1/29/16

Comments: Got two of these baits for christmas, LOVE THEM although the topwater bite wasn't on, I took it out to my pond and walked it for a little while and I couldnt stop, it walks amazing and just preforms like no other. I was able to skip this thing like a dream. Will most definantly be buying more. Can't wait for the summer!
