Comments: Been fishing these jerk baits for a couple years now and have caught several smallmouth and largemouth also one of my go to baits for walleye good quality not the best paint scheme but workable these jerk baits suspended well and have great action buy you some you will be satisfied

From: Bobby: Pineville, KY 1/18/22

Comments: Excellent jerkbait for fishing over grass! This is a floating bait and will catch giants in less than 5FOW. Definitely one of my tournament secrets.

From: Joey: Northfield, MN 1/3/22

Comments: As stated by others these are not the original design or at least not the same paint job as earlier versions. The RC STX lettering is missing from the top of the lure, the eyes are looking a different direction and do not match the opposing side. The Natural Emerald color for sure is not the same as pictured, mine looks like they did not finish painting it and through it in a box. The quality control looks really bad. Hopefully the lure still fishes correctly(although some comments have made me loose hope), I unfortunately did not discover the change until I opened the packaging and sensing something wrong searched some forums and this review section. At least they weren't megabass prices.

From: Unknown: 11/1/21

Comments: In my experience ordering this bait, you get a good one for about every 3-4 you buy. At that point, you're back to the original price of a 110. Just buy megabass..

From: Unknown: 8/17/21

Comments: Not a suspending jerk bait floats up the the surface super fast. Colors look nothing like the photos. One came with not rattles. Hooks and split rings look cheap.

From: 1/9/21: Unknown

Comments: Weak hooks, split rings, whatever I don't care these catch fish PERIOD! Suspend dots will weigh them down and I do not change the hooks out I loosen my drag like you should with jerkbait anyway.

From: Ruff: Missouri 12/18/20

Comments: Rick Clunn STX 1/2 oz suspension bait is not perfect, but after trying out some other ones. I still come back to this for my Walleye and Bass fishing. Pro: it has many colors to choose from, way outrun other baits. the 1/2 oz weight and large body allows it to cast pretty far (30-40m using braid), which is great for bank fishing even if there is wind. Con: as other reviews pointed out, it's neutral suspension tend to be off. I actually figured out a way to use it at my advantage. Here is why, during summer, the bottom of the lake is covered. If the bait sinks, you often end up getting stuck and lose the bait. Reel it in fast and let it float back slowly and you will get stuck. If the weight is way too light, I used STORM lead SuspenStrips to balance it out to exactly the action you want. Use extra epoxy for better adhesion. Happy fishing.

Comments:
The quality of these lures has gone down rapidly over the years. I bought one of these jerkbaits about 5-6 years ago, and I absolutely love it! Still fish it to this day, and it landed me a six pounder last week! I recently bought another one because I really wanted to focus on using jerkbaits in the clear lakes near my area. I was expecting the same quality as my six year old jerkbait but boy was I wrong! As soon as I saw it in the package I thought "what is this?". Let's start from the lure body itself. First, it is a lot thicker than its older version. I preferred the slender, thinner design because it resembles a minnow. Not a huge issue but let's move on. Second, you can see plain as day where they joined the two halves of the lure body. There's a not so pretty seam running from head to tail on the top and bottom of the jerkbait. The older version was seamless. Third, the paint job looks terrible and does not resemble the product image. It looks like someone who didn't like their job airbrushed the paint scheme together under 30 seconds. I know people who could do a better paint job in their garage. The product images are what these lures used to look like back when they were manufactured well! Fourth, the eyes fall out. Yes, the sticker that goes into the eye socket fell out as I was opening the package. To sum all of this up, this WAS a great jerkbait that exceeded many anglers expectations for a $8 lure. Now it seems Luck-E-Strike is no longer producing the same quality of lures that they once were. I'm definitely disappointed with this jerkbait.

From: Chris: 4/12/20

Comments: What happened? For a while IR019ve had a handful of them and they were my favorite Jerkbait. Just ordered a few the other day the restock and the whole bait is different. Mine all float and donR019t have the same action anymore. I know that changing hooks/split rings can help it suspend. These baits looked pretty close to the vision one ten. 8$ for a Jerkbait isnR019t a bad price but just not the bait I was hoping for. In my opinion spend a few more bucks and get something else.

From: Derek B: 2/27/20

Comments: Love the clear with purple blue colorshift top, threw it a few times, I could get it to stay off the surface. I took it back home and did a tub test, the suspending rc stx didn't suspend in fact it had a pretty rapid floating rise, the package said suspending, I am in the process of upgrading hook size on all three to see if I can tweak it to suspend, I don't doubt that they work, I just think that my bait wasn't adjusted right before packaging, does suck having to do this but I'll eventually get it to suspend, but like I said I love the bait, colors, weight, just mine was a little off, I think if I were to get another it would suspend.

From: Gary: Englewood 2/21/20

Comments: What happened!! For years this has been my favorite jerkbait. Great color options. The baits profile and swimming action were perfect.  Granted .... if they came equipped with chrome hooks they were soft - the black nickel hooks used on some colors were good. They were a staple in many smallmouth and walleye tourneys we fished not to mention they were used regularly on our weekend outings. Best of all was the price...you didn't cry if you got bit off by a northern. And of course - THEY CAUGHT FISH!!! Last year I loaded up on more of these baits and was so disappointed when I tried them out. The new profile is disappointing - it is round with virtually no action and hooks are worthless. This year I am just going to purchase more Ima's and try out some Livingston's. Would rather pay the extra now for a good bait.

From: Glenn - Ontario, Canada 2/19/19

Comments: As others have stated: the hooks are garbage. It's like they're made from the scraps of an aluminum can. The paint jobs are horrible as well. Natural emerald looks nothing like what's pictured. It looks like you gave a 4 year old an airbrush kit and told him to have-at-it. Save your money, by a Vision OneTen. That's what this lure is trying to rip off. And trust me, it falls waaaay short.

From: Caleb: Florida  11/21/18

Comments: I bought Hot Rod Blue at Walmart. I caught a 21.5 inch Wiper on the very first cast and countless large mouth bass on it already. It is the best jerk bait I have in my tackle box. Walmart is sold out of this color so I'm ordering on here now.

From: Ed: Monon, IN 6/27/18

Comments: Very disappointed, I bought some of these way back when they first came out and they were great and looked great. The hooks have always been bad. I just bought a few more recently and wow, how the quality has taken a nose dive, The paint and finish on these is terrible now. One I received has paint flakes coming off in the package.  Luck-E-Strike I will be taking my business to another brand. Avoid these.

From: Zach: Pa 5/8/18

Comments: Ive tried alot and I mean alot of jerkbaits.  This is my hands down favorite.  Casts a mile, easy to work, gets bit, good price.  French Pearl is my go to color.

From: Bubba: Iowa  5/2/18

Comments: I have a good many of these I've purchased over the years and they work great, just gotta change the hooks out. One thing I did notice the other day in a store is the newer ones that are coming out come from a different mode as you can see if you compare the older version with the new colors that just came out this year. Don't know if it will make a difference in the action or not but I'm a believer in if It's not broken, don't try to fix it. Maybe Megabass had something to do with it since they were almost identical.

From: Jeff: Georgia 4/29/18

Comments: Gets bit for sure but hooks are terrible. Bent out on the first 1 lber caught, switched the hooks then went back to catching them

From: Kieth Stone: Ca 12/11/17

Comments: Ordered a hand full to try them out and was highly disappointed. Some eyes fell off while still in the package, hooks are the weakest ever, and most importantly, they don't suspend correctly. Too much to tweak to get this bait right in my opinion. It catches fish but requires trial and error with each individual one.  If you are a beginner jerkbait angler I'd recommend these. It'll help you with learning to upgrade hooks and losing one won't crush your wallet.

From: Yang - Charlotte, NC 11/29/17

Comments: They look fantastic and have a great price tag. I bought 4. So far  2 out of 4 sink like a rock. The other 2 don't sink, they float. They float rather quickly. It's not an even keel float either, it's a tail end up float. Do they catch fish? Yep. Would I rather fish an x-rap? Yep. I won't be buying more, but that doesn't mean they're all bad

From: Tim: Port Neches, Texas 11/10/17

Comments: First time out with the large purple green apple I caught 8 largemouth and 7 chain pickerel in about two hours on a small local lake. Next time out using the emerald shiner I had even better results. Purchased five more in various colors after that. I lost one lure after hooking a large pickerel which probably cut my 8 lb. test line. At least it wasn't 20 bucks down the drain. I don't really care if some consider this a clone as long as it works. Thus far I haven't had any problems with the hooks that some have complained about.

From: Randy: Wappapello, Mo 11/8/17

Comments: I purchased the secret night and emerald shiner patterns in the smaller size. I was happy with the bait at first. The colors were pretty nice and I was landing some fish. Although, the hooks are not too sticky and one of the bill's broke, but I was fishing in some rocks. I think you get what you pay for. It's definitely not a megabass, so if that is what you're looking for then you won't get it here.

From: Alex: Spokane, Wa 6/21/17

Comments: My second cast ever with this bait I hooked a five pounder and the hook bent out :(
Great action, catches lots of fish but I revomend changing the hooks. Also mine was more like slow floating than suspending but it's not hard to fish that. In conclusion, this bait is worth a try.

From: Unknown - 5/12/17

Comments: Looks like the jury is about evenly split on the merits, or the lack thereof, of these Ito Vision clones.  My frame of reference and experences with this style of bait has included my all time favorite Pointer 78's, some of the Yo-Zuri/Duel models, and the newer Megabass Flap Slap.  As for the areas of comments with which I completely agree, the first would be the specific detail and overall quality of finishes on the STX's are not on a par with Megabass, but are very, very good and sufficiently effective and realistic.  22 colors is a bunch!  The hook hardware and the hooks themselves are inconsistently tempered and need to be replaced before using.  My choice is a #1 SS split ring from Stamina for the hook hangers, a #2 SS split ring for the nose/line tie, and 3 #6 9650 VMC black nickel trebles with standard shank length.  The larger split ring on the nose is necessary to aid the bait in obtaining the widest "jump" arc on the retrieve.  As for the myriad of comments about the lac
k of/ problems with the action, beyond the size of split ring on the nose, much improvement will be obtained by careful attention to rod action and power, and line size.  Medium power rods between 6'8" and 7'3" with an XF action and a very fine and fast tip section rated for lines between 8-15lb test are what you want to throw these baits with.  Think about what you would throw your larger popping baits or something like a small Spook, and you will be close.  I use 12lb. Yo-Zuri Hybrid in green for the larger sized STX, 10lb. in the same line for the smaller bait.

From: Chris: Clinton, MO 2/27/17

Comments: The STX is my go to jerk bait here in Va.. For the price its a slam dunk even though you might have to change to heavier hooks. I put a feathered treble on the back hook and it suspends very well when using 10 lb. fluorocarbon. I stay with the larger size here because of all the pickerel you have to contend with.

From: Bryan: Poquoson VA 2/13/17

Comments: I'm pretty disappointed. I really liked the looks of this, and bought two. The bill broke for no apparent reason on one, and the other just doesn't dive at all. It is like two feet down at the most when I work it even on lighter fluorocarbon. I can get a fluke down better. I am going to have to stick to the KVD's or the McStick. Both much better products for me.

From: Zack: West Virginia 2/8/17

Comments: Let me start off by saying that the STX casts very well & is a solidly built bait for the price. However, it simply lacks the refinement that a vision 110 has. It is not quite as crisp when twitched, doesn't hunt as far to the side & it doesn't have the same rolling, true burn that the 110 has. It will definitely catch fish but the megabass outfished it 2:1 from the same boat. Definitely a good backup option to have though!

From: Nick: Thousand Oaks, CA 6/17/16

Comments: Compared these head to head with the 110 this spring. Did just as well with the STX. No issues with the hardware on the STX either, but I bent one of the hooks on the 110. Colors aren't quite as nice on the STX though.

From: Chris: OH 5/3/16

Comments: Fantastic, they suspend perfectly and move nice, i love using it too catch pickerel they never fail to catch. Only thing is that the hooks suck and bend really easily

From: Danielson: CT 3/20/16

Comments: I love the bait, it cast well and fish certainly will strike it. Hooks and split rings need to be changed out because big fish can pull free from the standard hooks. I have had my best success with French Pearl and Steal Flash.

From: John: Rockledge, FL 7/19/15

Comments: It's paint job isn't considered the greatest because your comparing it to the greatest but these are not all that bad compared to other brands we buy and with a great weight transfer system, action similar the 110 and the confidence to throw just about anywhere these lures have a spot in any anglers box unless you're a bait snob.

From: Jeff: Dallas, TX 6/5/15

Comments:  It is NOT close to the Megabass 110. Well, it looks like one, kind of, but that is about it. If the rip bait bite is on, they'll eat this (and all the others) but if they get picky, the guy throwing the 110 is going to smoke you. Truth hurts.

From: Jay6: USA 6/5/15

Comments: These just simply catch fish and a lot of them. Yes the hooks and split rings need an up grade but it is worth it IMO. I use a few different twitch baits and I always seem too end up eventually putting one of these on through out the day.

From: Bill: WI 5/14/15

Comments: Hooks are just plain junk, lost a nice fish and replaced them with quality hooks, it is now a fish catching machine.  I'm going to get a couple more

From: Roger: Lincolnton, GA 5/1/15

Comments: I have several of these baits as donations to nonboaters when vision 110s are rocking. But I can't help to think of Rick Clunn doing his fishing mediation zen thing and awakening with the idea for a complete knock off of a very popular bait. Makes me laugh about all that zen schtick he has promoted for the last two decades.

From: Bigpoppabass: Nashua, NH 3/13/15

Comments: You get what you pay for. If you have better split rings and extra hooks laying around, use them to replace the existing ones. These are nice & cheap, but they catch large numbers of bass. I have yet to catch a pig with these but it sure is fun catching quantities - now to figure out how to catch the bragging size fish.

From: Rudy: Fresno, CA 3/4/15

Comments: I have a ton of these. They have great action and work well. The hooks are not great but no biggie. One issue I've had with 4 of them is the center split ring anchor in the bait can wiggle loose and it will take on water. It's no Megabass but it works ok for the money.

From: Jason: USA 3/1/15

Comments:  I have the smaller version & it doesn't suspend. These appear to be hit and miss. Changing hooks & rings may help but I'd rather not have to tinker with a lower end jerkbait.  If you want to try out a rebadged megabass with megabass colors (ala suzuki vehicles) pick one up & it may work for ya.

From: Montanaro: Touchdown City, WV 2/22/15

Comments: Recently bought 2 different colors of the 3.75, and they came with different size split rings. Not impressed. Sticking with KVD's.

From: Kevin: Morgan City, LA 1/13/15

Comments: I'll jump on the bandwagon. These baits light up the wiper and walleye bite in late spring. Damn if jerkbait fishing is hard work but these caught fish after working the area over with crankbaits and spinnerbaits. 6 lb. wiper destroyed the hooks and I have to change them out, but othewise a great bait.

From: Bill: CO 12/19/14

Comments: A very similar bait to the 110, made in the USA, and under $10? sign me up! Other than changing the hooks and split rings (which I do with most baits anyways, Megabass hooks included), they're an awesome bait. French Pearl is a killer on smallies around here. The smaller version is hard to cast on a baitcaster but it can be done. No more bills breaking/falling off or tails cracking. Only problem is the fish won't leave them along and have almost worn the paint off a few of them, not a bad problem to have though. The bill on my last Megabass (a 110 magnum) mysteriously fell off fishing it in 20' of water at Table Rock in April. So now I just need Lucky Strike to hurry up and start making a bigger version of the STX!

From: Clayton: Gardner, KS 6/25/14

Comments: This is a good bait. But do upgrade the hooks and split rings. Casts a country mile, suspends good , and yes it catches. And really who cares if it's a megabass knockoff.

From: Paul: Malta, NY 6/6/14

Comments: this bait is killer. I cant keep the largemouth off this thing. this is one of my go to baits.holds up well but be careful with the bill. had best luck with pearl and orange belly.

From: Dakota: MO 5/21/14

Comments: Bought these a while back at gander mtn and they are pretty good on smallmouth just the right amount of action and durable too for the money cant go wrong.

From: Gino: NJ 3/11/14

Comments: The RC STX flat out catches fish !! All I do change the hooks to gamakatsu #6 short shank ewg hooks with owner hyper wire split rings.

From: John: St. Cloud, FL

Comments: Its a decent bait overall but, the hooks bend out extremely easy so you must change them out.

From: Dave: NC

Comments: You get what you pay for. One of mine the rear ball sticks and I cant fix; I can bang it out but it just sticks again, so its going in the garbage.  Out of the other three others, two suspend properly with the nose down, the third seems to suspend more level than nose down.. Not particularly sure why, however the two colors that gave me problems had sort of a see through color. Now does that matter, I have no idea just telling you what I experienced.

From: Brett: NY

Comments: Great lure! First time with this on the water i caught a fat 6 pounder, previously i had been in a fishing slump for months! Very impressed!

From: Jake: Cocoa, FL

Comments: Good jerkbait for a good price.  I have several megabass and STX.  I use the megabass in tournaments and the STX for fun or pre-fishing.  The two things I notice about the STX is the hardware is more fragile and the finish is not as durable.

From: James: NC

Comments: I bought the 4.5 in secret night to fish bass at a local pond. I was pleasantly surprised at its effectiveness(being more of a soft bait guy. I usually don't fare as well with hard baits) Last cast I hooked a 15 pound catfish on it. The back was a bit scratched up and the middle hook was almost ripped out, but it's salvageable. I might have to buy some more of them!

From: Nicholas: CA

Comments: Great for a knockoff. Hooks and rings should be changed as others have mentioned. Got a couple in the other day and took them out today. Great action, caught two solid fish, but after the second fish I had a stick bait not a jerk bait. Bill snapped clean off :X. Hope the others I ordered don't do the same.

From: San Diego

Comments: 4.5 is good for the price.  I was excited about the 3.75 version when I say it on TW but it is questionable.  Looks exactly like its big brother but when I was trying to tune it to suspend or atleast sink slowly nose down I found it is very buoyant and floats nose up.  The weight system is not heavy enough to transfer to the nose.  Bait still might be good for a fast, erratic retrieve but I know I wont tie it on in cold water when I need it to suspend and tempt fish.

From: Tyson: Omaha, NE

Comments: If you think you're getting a Vision 110 at a bargain, you're not.  This bait isn't nearly as good as a 110.  The body shape is nearly identical, but the likeness ends there.  It doesn't have the action and isn't near the quality of a megabass.  For a great jerkbait in the $8 price range try the xcalibur jerk shad...better action, better hardware, better everything.

From: Greg: NJ

Comments: caught some nice fish this yr. on the stx. seemed to produce just as well as the 110 and sometimes better.  may just have to buy 3 more of these rather than 1 MB

From: John: Ti, NY

Comments: this lure catchs fish easy as that. but def change out the rings and hooks. i caught a 6 pounder with it and 2 hooks broke and 2 split rings broke.

From: AK: NJ

Comments: very impressed for the money. I just changed to size 5 Owner hooks and they work great. One thing I did notice, of all the ones I bought (multiple of different colors), only one color had bad split rings, the other colors had upgraded split rings and all had the same style hooks so guess it depends on which split rings theys used at the time on whether you need to change out. As for copying the Megabass, well thats business especially when you look at quanity vs quality (my bet would be they all get made/painted in same plant and the hardware gets assembled else where)

From: Steve: Oregon

Comments: I dont know about anyone else, but i had a big problem with these floating extremely fast on me. tried 3 different stx's and all of them did the same thing. almost like a crankbait floating to the top.

From: Nick: KY

Comments: Great bait but I will use the real deal when it is tournment time. Also, I am pissed with luck e strike copying other companies and Rick Clunn putting his name on it, GET YOUR OWN IDEAS! Also Aaron 110's are not meant to suspend they slow float.

From: Ryan: Peoria, IL

Comments: Great lure.. you need to replace the hooks and split rings before you even use it., but that being said its still a great lure for much cheaper than japans version of the same thing

From: Rob: Central, PA

Comments: Just got back from a week fishing in northern MN. This bait was killer on both smallies and largemouth!  Even outfished my 110s at a fraction of the cost. Only downside - the hooks and split rings. They need to be switched out and hopefully LES will hear all the complaints and do something about them.

From: Colt: Belleville, IL

Comments: Great bait but hooks aren't the best, start to bend after a couple fish.  Other than that it seems to work really well.

From: Jake: Greer, SC

Comments: Seems almost identical to Megabass. A little thinner profile, a slightly smaller lip are all I can see. Casts far, and swims about the same. Just got one small bass on it dead sticking it, but these aren't really a hot bait here in the south (for me anyway). Still for the price, got three, instead of one..
