Overview

Since it's introduction to the US market in the mid nineties, Megabass has gained a very loyal following among touring pros and the rest of us. Megabass has developed a reputation as being the most active baits in their class and, more important, the most natural actions as well. Each Megabass bait was designed and the prototype hand-carved by the master Japanese lure maker, Yuki Ito. The internal structure of Megabass lures is different than anything else on the market today; the external walls are thinner but completely supported by internal supports and each class of bait utilizes unique Moving Balancers that create the erratic action bass can't resist. The finishes on Megabass lures are unique as well. To give the most life-like look Megabass gives each bait numerous coats of paint that blend to make the color perfect and don't exhibit a sharp line from one color to the next but blend and fade into each other like in real life. All these features makes Megabass the leader in lure development and one of the 'secrets' that win some big money all over the US.

GG Flashing WakasagiHot damn. My girl and I fished Lake Travis in Austin and straight SMOKED EM. Can't go wrong with these.

Comments: I just don't catch largemouth or smallmouth on these as well as several other jerkbaits I throw in this depth/size range. They don't have as much as a darting/walking movement as a Lucky Craft Pointer or as fast as a stop. A couple of discontinued Megabass baits have better catch rates for me as well as their yet to be imported X-Nanahan series. These cast well, but that's all I've found to appreciate. I'm relegating the Trick Darter to loaner and high risk of loss situations.

Comments: Good ripbait, but I find myself using the 110JR more than this. I have not had a bait sink like a rock for me, but I only have three of these, so maybe I have been lucky. Then again, a sinker could be a good thing in some situations.

From: Jason: Unknown 11/1/21

Comments: Luv this style of fishing, these are great lures, that catch fish. Do recommend and own several colors along with other megabass lures. In defense of the guy a few reviews down, I've had a few(2) sinkers stinkers myself. I still by them, but you bet for 18.00 duckets, I test them out of the package.

From: J. Seven 1/21/18

Comments: I have a few megabass products but this was going to be my entry into there jerkbaits.  It has an incredible finish and comes ready to catch them.  Mine sank a lot faster than i thought is should and there is nothing i can due to tune this bait.  The hooks are very thin wire and the split rings are tiny.  I take the split ring of the front of most baits when tuning to help reduce weight and this one did not have one... I will keep it as there are deeper lakes around me that i can use a sinker but not what i expected...

From: John - Bartlett 12/20/17

Comments: For the fella that said his bait sunk fast...congrats, you own a Rocket Darter. This bait does not sink. It does suspend though, and very well.

From: Jay6: Rippin 11/15/17

Comments: Just received my X80 and fished it for the first time.  The Bass are in the Pre-Spawn stage and a magnificent 8 pounder smashed it 2m from my boat. Absolutely swallowing it.  My second order on these are on its way.
Thanks TW & Megabass.

From: John - South Africa 7/16/17

Comments: Put #8 owner stingers and smaller o rings and got it to suspend perfect

From: Buddy: Indiana 1/8/17

Comments: thing sinks fast, maybe I spent $ 22.00 on a punch bait. It suspends when it's on the bottom though. I'm not sure what's going on but it doesn't suspend at all. Had to use other brands to get that suspending action. Mono, flouro, doesn't matter smaller hook, still sinks, not happy with mega sink tricked darter.

From: Spit Wad: Hailey, ID 3/28/14

Comments: I fished my X-80 for the first time today and love the action. The bass seem to like it too. The hooks are crazy sticky. You cannot go wrong with anything from Megabass.

From: Andy: Baldwin City, KS 3/28/14

Comments: Bought trick darter to use in cold water, fished 37 degree water with flouro & then mono was surprised that this suspender was sinking. At this price I thought a suspender should suspend. Haven't given up on it but had to use jerk baits that would suspend. As time goes by well see how it performs, not real impressed, however it does have good action and casts well.

From: Spit Wad: Hailey, ID 3/27/14

Comments: This is a much better product now that they removed the rattles and put a gloss finish on them. They seem to be much more durable as well... and still the easiest walking frog out there. The new leopard yellow color is sexier then the old chartreuse yellow, will def. be trying that one out come Spring.

From: Robert: Battle Creek , MI

Comments: To be honest with you, I don't like Megabass because of their way to "branding" the company - it is too much like cult to me. However, I use some certain lures made by them - Top water baits and rip baits. I have been using X80 Trick darter for about 5 years - way before TW started to sell, and I own a dozen of them. I have to say that this bait is one of the best small rip baits available today. The way they move is pretty tricky - goes left and right, up and down, etc. Too bad it's no longer my secret bait.

From: Jade: SoCal

Comments: This is a great little jerkbait. I threw it quite a bit this spring and I caught alot of quality fish. The bill seems to be plenty durable while bumping off structure, but I did crack one of them (the seam) after I threw it on the rocks. Overall, it has a place in any jerkbait fanatic's box....
