The inventors of the spinning reel, Mitchell Reels has come a long way since they patented and began to produce the first spinning reel in 1950. The new Mitchell 300PRO Spinning Reels isn’t your father’s old Mitchell either. Loaded with high-performance features and built with advanced materials, it blends the best of new and old world technologies to create a reel that is both incredibly smooth and powerful, and also very well balanced.
Its advanced polymeric body offers increased strength over graphite yet remains lighter than aluminum, and its eleven bearing system (10+1) ensures consistently fluid casts and retrieves. The innovative Bail Halo also reduces weight, while adding strength to the rotor and improving line lay. An EVA knob improves comfort and the lightweight aluminum handle delivers powerful winding capabilities. The advanced Hybrid Carbon Fiber Drag rounds out the 300PRO's features, and delivers smooth performance that doesn’t heat up when fighting big fish. Back and better than ever, the Mitchell 300PRO Spinning Reels are hard to beat - especially for the price.

Comments: This is not the 308 that I grew up with! This reel is a 25 size, not the 10 sizes I was anticipating. If that's what you want look at something else. Buyer beware!

Comments: I have two 308Pro reels and one standard 308 that I've been using for 6+/- years. First, spend the little bit extra for the "Pro" model. Can't say specifically what it is, but they feel much better/smoother than the standard. The 5.8:1 ratio is a great compromise between a "high speed" 6.2:1 and the common 5.1:1+/-. I'm running 10# braid on my 308Pro's going after bass/pike/walleye and they have been fantastic with no reliability issues. Only complaint I have is having to occasionally tighten up the drag, as it seems to loosen up on its own sometimes. I've never used any reels in the over-$100 realm, so I can't make that comparison. However, of any of the $70-$100 reels that I have and use, the 308Pro is super smooth and sits at the top of my list of spinning reels.

Comments: I have 2 310's for my finesse fishing. 6lb floro and 10lb braid to floro leader respectively. I can cast a mile with the 6lb and pretty good with the braid. The reels are feather light and the drag is smooth as silk which comes in very handy with the 6lb floro. I've had them for, oh I don't know, 6 or 7 seasons and they perform just like they did when I got em. "If" they ever break I'll definitely be replacing them with another Mitchel 310.From: Chuck: West Milford 10/7/20Comments: Don't let the low price point make you think this isn't a great quality reel. I have 5 of these and I can tell you they are great and perform just as nice as some of the $100+ reels out there. No this isn't going to have the quality of a Stradic, but you can buy 4 of these for about the cost of one Stradic. From: NV: Maine 10/18/19
Comments: I've been using this reel for about 3 months now. It was great out of the box - very smooth, drag is great & it cast great with 20 lb. braid. However, it's getting the "grind" now after being used in salt water once a week since purchasing. Yes, I am tough on my gear, it gets wet in the boat, I fish for a long period of time, but I do properly maintain them. My other Daiwas & Shimanos are fine. I knew it wouldn't last like my $150-200 reels but was hoping for more than a few months.

Comments: Believe it or not, I have been using this reel on an uglystik GX2 with 30lb fireline as my frogging rig. I have to say, I am thinking about not buying the bait caster set up I was thinking about. The reel is upper smooth, casts 30lb fireline and a Zoom Horny Toad way out there, and has the drag to get the fish out of the slop. I recently pulled a 5lb bass out of some serious pads. The reel gave me no problems.

Comments: Very good beginners spinning reel. It is very smooth and has exceptional drag. Just remember to tighten the crank every once in a while.

Comments: bottom line! best reel in the market for under 100.00 and better then some reels over 100.00 can go wrong with this reel!
From: Viveros1231: CA 7/2/15
Comments: This reel is absolutely superb. It's light, well balanced, smooth as silk, casts great and winds with precision. The drag is smooth and every area of design is well thought out and functional. I can't count how many reels I've owned over the years--including the original Mitchell 300--but I don't remember one that has pleased me so much. I really can't find a thing about it to criticize.

Comments: I recently purchased this reel from tackle warehouse after playing around with one at a local sporting goods store. I really wanted an ultra light weight combo for drop shotting and finesse presentations and this set up is perfectly suited for those situations. Upon arrival and inspection of the reel I set it up with a 30 lb braid main line and put a three foot, eight pound leader on and off I went to my nearest body of water. I put the rod and reel through several tests throwing everything from eighth ounce inline spinners to quarter ounce weighted drop shots and both rod and reel performed flawlessly. Now for the reel, the thing that surprised me the most about the reel was how crisp it was. There was absolutely zero wobble or play anywhere in the reel. I have always been able to find some play somewhere in a spinning reel regardless of brand, but not in this one. The reel was extremely smooth during the retrieve and the EVA handle not only reduced the reels weight, but was surprisingly comfortable. The audible drag was smooth and easy to adjust while fighting fish and allowed me to go from giving the fish all the line it wanted, to giving absolutely no line at all with just a few clicks of the drag knob. Needless to say, I was very surprised by the quality of this reel, especially at this price point. If you have any reservations about ordering this reel, then just demo it from tackle warehouse before making the purchase but be prepared to buy it.
