Overview

P Line started out on the West Coast and was quickly adopted as the best co-polymer line on the market by a wide variety of anglers. Bass fishermen liked the natural green color for stained water or the crystal clear for the clear water lakes, and the abrasion resistance when fishing around structure is incredible. Saltwater anglers soon learned about the great knot strength and low stretch of P Line and fell in love with the immense strength of all the line classes. Trout anglers noted the strength per line diameter and realized they could step down in line diameters and still have incredibly strong line. When a big trout got them around a stick or a rock they knew the line would hold and the fish would be landed. This is the co-polymer line that can do it all from dropshotting and finesse fishing to flipping heavy jigs in thick cover to dragging spider jigs on deep structure. Try a small spool to fill a couple of reels if you haven't tried it already or buy the economical 600 or 3000 yard spools if you already know how good P Line really is.

12 lb. Is AmazingI have been running some tests with 12 lb. P-Line cxx. Using a digital force gauge. Consistently breaking at 25 pounds with a 10 wrap San Diego Jam knot. WOW!

BEST BAR NONEThere's a reason there's tons of reviews for this line and its being a best seller...…. Because CXX is a no frills, no nonsense line that gets the job done and that you can count on regardless the species, situation, or technique. I'm not saying its the best at any one thing but there's nothing it sucks at... Abrasion resistance is as good as it gets. Low stretch/sensitivity; I can feel taps in slack wind blown line just like floro. The thing i hate most of floro is you get a backlash and kinks in line it will break, not with CXX The only downside is yes it is not the most spinning gear friendly over 8lb test. I admit I do use CX Premium for spinning but CXX 6lb on spinning is great as long as you soak the spool of line in warm water for 15 minutes, then fill your reel while the spool of line is in the water and its spinning around while you reel it on the reel. You will have trouble free, no reel snot required. And don't even get me started about knot strength...….. 99% of knot strength is in how you tie it, wet it and don't cinch it tight, don't burn it, don't clip the tag end right at the knot; on finesse I leave a 1/4" tag end, jig's and junk fishing I leave a LOT...…I'm so over hearing "experts" complain about lines being junk because of "poor knot strength" LOL

Phill’s FishingBest fishing line Ive used. I love the strength of the line and knot strength. The abrasion resistance. My favorite line at this tineI use it for big catfish. Bass, all pan fish. I have recommended this line to many. They all like it a 5 star from me.

Ive tried them allI was fishing a spawning flat with super heavy hydrilla, not mats but pretty thick in 4' of water, I had an epic day i caught a lot of bass and 7 big fish , one being a 9.8, a-7 and several 4's and most of them when caught had a huge heavy clump of grass coming in with it, i was using 12 pound test cxx, I never retied and i never broke off. i was amazed because the water was so clear, No Fluorocarbon needed. when it comes to line, I've tried them all, but nothing compares to the strength of cxx, I'm sold on it now.

Knot strengthI hear guys say this line has break-offs and poor knot strength... NOT HARDLY. At least 90% of break offs/poor knots is user error, I don't care what you're using. If you get a real bad backlash and try to pull it out and get a hard kink in your line; GARRAUNTEED break-off, either from a big fish, hookset or hard cast, in any line. Poor knot strength is almost always user error. Don't cinch it tight, leave a little tag end,(I leave 1/4" on finesse, up to 1/2" on anything else, and have next to zero issues. Ask Gman about his thinking on this, he laughs and guys accusing lines of poor knot strength.

Comments: If you are new to fishing and have a spinning setup then this is your line. I have use 4-15lb and it very strong and cheap. Flouro is just a waste of money because your lure can get broken off just by casting. I have cast off a lot of lure using 12lb INVISX. I have catch bass all day without re-tie unlike flouro where you have to re-tie after every few fish catches or if you see a little nick in your line. It is also better than Mono because the line is way more hidden. I have use Maxima mono line and notice I catch less fish and it very noticeable especially with trout.

From: Unknown: 4/4/23

Comments: There is NO other line that compares to 10lb CXX for baitcast gear IMO!!! Once again I was awed this weekend by its durability, sensetivity and strength; 40+bass in three hours, one was a 6lb largemouth, all on a Bitsy Flip/Paca Craw combo, and zero breakoffs, felt every tick or sluggish bite. I don't care if I was fishing the Classic; this would be my line, PERIOD.

From: Jamie: Indiana 5/19/22

Comments: Been using CXX so long I only remember using other brands as a kid. This line is hands down the best. Deep brush pile fishing at night to flipping shallow cover the CXX 12lb just works. I use 6 and 8 for deep cranking. And if I really want to fish mats or log jams you cannot break 20lb. 15 is a good all around line but memory starts pretty bad in that range. I have won thousands on PLine. Who in their right mind even considers 40' deep brush pile fishing with 12lb line?. Well, CXX will handle it well. PERIOD. If i break off a fish its due to my stupidity. You can fish all day and never re tie and fish with confidence. Not enough good can be said of this line. The day this is discontinued i will buy every spool available in 12lb moss green and fluorescent. No doubt.

From: JC: NW Arkansas 4/6/21

Comments: could be more flexible but i landed a 24 and  a 36 pound blue catfish on the same line ( 8 lb  P-line) that i was crappie fishing with. So if you want strength and value, I don't  think you will be disappointed.

From: Doug: Heber Springs, AR 4/2/21

Comments: Any line company can make a strong line when its as thick as their line is. I have used 8/10/12 lb  test. Very wiry and poor casting distance per test rating. Better choices than this.

From: Kevin: MD 3/4/21

Comments: CXX just flat out works.Still the best all around line for me.I have uses for expensive fluoro, braid in certain instances, and mono on top waters. But for general uses in shallow Texas lakes, still the best.Don't have to worry about little nicks or random snap offs like fluoro.Right amount of stretch.Perfect for most trebles.Note the line diameters, 12lb CXX is close to .15 which is what other 15 lb or some Japanese 20 lb fluro mirrors.Of course the heavier diameters have some memory, but that is the trade off with tough heavy duty line.

Comments:
I thought this line was good until I broke off a Huddleston on the cast. I tied a real quality knot (which I closely inspect every time). After examining the line, it had little fractures all around the area where I tied the knot tied to the line-tie. I think line-tie was eroding through the line from rubbing back and forth on repetitive casts. But this line claims to be abrasion resistant and that day I was only using it for about 45 minutes. Maybe I a got a bad spool but I havnt had any problems with maxima ultra green to this point

From: Cyrus: Orange, CA 11/19/20

Comments:If you don't know what kind of line to put on a reel - use this in 15#. 15lb CXX is the best all-around line to use for casting reels.I've used this for nearly 20 years. I wouldn't go over 8lb on spinning - most likely 6lb. I use this for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits due to the great value if I'm not fishing in ultra clear water or I'm fishing shallow and don't need the line to sink. You can't find a better shallow water line than CXX. I've used from 8lb-25lb and never had any surprises. If you want a durable cranking line 10 or 12lb is great.

From: Larry: Charlotte, NC 8/7/20

Comments: I don't remember how many reviews I've given CXX, but I will again post positive feedback. Every time I think I'm going to switch CXX for fluorocarbon of equal weight/strength, I change my mind. I still use 10lb CXX moss green for top water presentation on baitcasting rigs, and I will probably never change from 12lb CXX for spinnerbaits. I first began using this line in 2003. CXX has equal strength and near equal low stretch of most fluorocarbons. Although I've switched to various brands of fluoro for finesse, cranking, and flipping, I have supreme confidence in CXX for my spinnerbaits and topwater. This line is extremely abrasion resistant, and to date, I've never had a break off while using P-Line CXX for any fishing conditions. When you consider the $$ for most fluorocarbons, CXX is a great value. THUMBS UP!!!

From: John: Hendersonville 7/28/20

Comments: *While not a perfect co-poly line , if believe CXX does enough things well that if I only could pick one line , it would be CXX #12 lb. in moss green on a bait cast reel . When spooling spray a small piece of cloth with KVD line conditioner and then run the line through your fingers / cloth , also spritz the line every 10 seconds or so with KVD line conditioner for for good measure - then let the newly spooled line sit over night before using . As other reviewers have stated : CXX has low stretch , good abrasion resistance and is very strong (much higher breaking strength for each line size) and best of all CXX won't break the bank.

From: Unknown - 7/3/20

Comments: Not sure about the ones complaining about spooling unevenly, however I have never had any issue w this line regarding that. The memory is bad, however I could care less, once it is on the spool it's all down hill from there. This stuff is extremely strong! Very good durability and strength. It casts well also. If you want a good mono application, I would highly recommend this line, especially for beginners, alot of forgiveness.

From: J.D: LW Florida 4/22/20

Comments: Well, here i am AGAIN writing another rave review for the FINE product; once again i used 10lb on 95%of my bait-cast gear, lots of jig, heavy shaky head and other "touch" baits, lots of cranks and spinner-bait work, i LOVE top-water, and i was never let down.Minimal stretch, maximum abrasion resistance, excellent sensitivity, decent handling and CHEAP.i will be the first to doubt the myth of floro line, i'll stick with this line and i would use it if i was fishing the CLASSIC.And for spinning/finesse, 6 lb rules!!! Soak the spool in a bucket of warm water for 15 minutes and then leave it IN the bucket and then fill your spinning reel making sure the spool is spinning and you will have the best behaved spinning line you ever had.I did this last spring and the line was still usable this spring when i stripped it off for new.

From:Jamie: New Paris 3/24/20

Comments: This line is SOLID!!! I got this for topwater and was very impressed with it!!! So much so that I got all of my river rods laced up with it now, the 12lb is a great All around line!! I've got 15lb on my jig rod.. It cast like butter, awesome knot strength , Performs like fluoro, and is just tuff!! Can't beleve I was sleeping on p-line.. AND THE PRICE!!! Forget about it!!! I fish theupper Mississippi in MN, and depending where I'm at, it gets ruff at times... so this is great!! Recommend to anyone!!

From: Justin: Little Falls, MN 9/16/19

Comments:This stuff is no joke. I have been fishing with it for 2 years now, never have broke off and I fish 5 days a week. If your line is frayed you don't have to worry about tying. Don't waste your money on anything else this is the strongest, most dependable line on the market.

From: MG:North Georgia8/26/19

Comments:I just keep going back to it.I use CXX for all mono/copoly applications. For me that includes braid to leader applications, straight mono for smaller topwaters, a C-rig leaders. It's bigger diameter when compared to many lines, so I generally size down one size compared to Trilene XL or the like.Is it strong?Yeah.Like tow your boat strong.Abrasion resistant as well.I love the moss green color.Memory?Yep.KVD line and lure is your friend.Should you put it on spinning gear?Only as a leader.Mainline on spinning tackle? That's what braid is for.

From: Mac: Longview, TX 7/22/19

Comments:Good line for the money. Slayed salmon steelhead, lingcod all sort of rock cods.., freshwater black bass.. catfish... bluegill crappie., you name it

From: USA - 12/27/18

Comments:I've used 10lb CXX, Moss Green, on my Med/Heavy Casting rods this season, have pulled in MULTIPLE big fish, everything from jigs to topwater, cranks to shakeyhead, bass, pike, walleye, big drums and cats, and i have to honestly say this is the BEST 10lb line you can purchase for the money, PERIOD. You can fish it with confidence, knowing the fish end up in the boat. I have 15lb on my heavy and Mag/Med/Heavy rods for casting big baits, but for 90% of the baits i use i can do it all with 10. The 4 and 6lb are good for finesse on spinning, but for that i prefer the CX Premium, if you go heavier than that in CXX you'll be dissapointed. But for a know down drag out with ANYTHING that swims, you can beat CXX!

From: Unknown - 10/27/18

Comments:This line is extremely strong and abrasion resistant.Great for baitcasters, top water, big Swimbaits, or fishing reaction baits in thick cover. There is some memory to this line so I would not recommend using it on spinning reels. I have been using this line since 1995 and is my preferred choice for monofilament lines.

From: Steve L:Glendale, AZ 6/19/18

Comments:This is great line I like to use it when I'm fishing top water ..super strong no backlash problems on my reels highly recommend.

From:Mike: Moline 5/17/18

Comments:I bought this line for my topwater rod. It is very tough and hard to break but the memory is just horrible. It casts well is strong but the memory is juts very bad.

From: Wiktor: Chicago Illinois 2/28/18

Comments: I CANNOT say enough good things about this line, its the best all around line BAR NONE!!!! put 6-8 lb on a spinning rod and finesse fish with confidence, even feel ticks on slack line in wind, 10 on a cranking rod and your problems are solved, 15 on a jig/swimbait rod and TRY to break it!!! Sure, on spinning rods it will kink up after a few trips but its INEXPENSIVE line, just use backer and respool. If you're looking for a strong line and abrasion resistant, look no further, on a ML/XF rod i've hauled in 10 cats, drums and decent walleye on a recent trip to Erie. For hard water, 2lb will do all you need. Next year, I'm using CXX exclusively for everything, i don't need to impress anyone, i just wanna catch fish!!!

From: Jamie: NEW PARIS 11/12/17

Comments: Used on multiple baitcasters in the 15lb moss green and 20 hi-vis fluorescent for night fishing. Extremely strong line, I've pulled fish through entire trees and ripped heavy texas rigs through bushes for hours without a single nick or weak spot. Stretch is definitely there but not high, has no effect on strong hooksets. Would not recommend a single other line for this price.

From: Tyler: Missouri 7/27/17

Comments:I flip in thick grass with the 15 and have caught many 7 pounders, it will pull them out like there nothing! Been using for 2 years now flipping and havent been broke off yet!!!

From: Jacob: Alabama 5/1/17

Comments:Worst memory ever! Put 20lb on my lexa400 and have had nothing but problems...horrible memory, unevenly winds onto reel, gets easily looped in reel also...have used line conditioner several times with no improvement...do not reccomend

From: Jay: Newport Beach, CA 4/26/17

Comments: Not a big fan of this line over 8 lb. test on spinning reels, but is terrific on casting reels. The first few casts of the day the line may be coily, but once it is wet is calms down nicely, and it helps if the weather is warm. This is hands down the toughest mono I have used so far. How tough? Once on a salt water trip, 30 lb. yellowfin tuna were crashing the boat and I wanted to hear what mono sounded like when it snaps under pressure (you've read it before ... "The line when it snapped sounded like a .22 going off!!"), so I baited an anchovie, tossed it out, and a yellow immediately ate the bait and took off like a bat out of hell. I threw the reel into gear, let it run around 25 yards (it took mere seconds!) then I clamped the spool down with my drag and my thumbs and it came to a halt. I could feel the line stretch a little, then ... nothing! I cranked back a semi-dead fish. I unhooked the fish after landing it and tossed out another 'chovie without retying the hook. Again, I stopped another nice yellowfin in its tracks. I don't know how many other lines could have done that, but I know no 8 lb. bass is going to pull that hard!

From: Steven: MidState, CA 4/9/17

Comments:In my opinion, this is hands down the best line for c-rig leaders. Floats, has less visibility due to the fluoro coating, and fairly low stretch so you get better hooksets. Won't go with anything else when throwing the ball and chain.

From: Unknown 3/12/17

Comments:I LOVE CXX. Drop shot, wacky, Texas-rig, jigs, cranks, spinner-baits it'll do it ALL. Put 6lb on a wacky rod/spinning & its beautiful. Put 15lb on a jig rod & I dare you to brake it! Use 10lb on a crankbait rod & its magic. Sure its stiff, but when you can fish worry free & handle anything fish throw your way & its very inexpensive to boot, what more can you ask for. For all you guys who complain about knot strength, in ANY line, leave a 1/2" of tag sticking out of your knot & your problems are over.

From: Jamie: USA 9/3/16

Comments:Was a long time braid fan. My father recommended I try this line. I know use the 10, 12, 15 & 20 lb. I ABSOLUTELY love this line! Out of 12 rods I know only have 1 with braid for flipping in really nasty stuff. I have run this line through anything & everything I can find just to see how it holds up & to say I am impressed is an understatement. I HIGHLY recommend this line to everyone & anyone.

From: Jeremy: McHenry, MD 7/14/16

Comments:Got a lot of recommendation for this cxx & floroclear line, finally bought some spools in 4, 6, 8 & 12lbs. I use it all as main line & leaders. I tested it hard for two years & not giving up on it. Its not bad in strength but extremely horrible in memories. I even soak it in kvd line conditioner, makes no difference. It's curling up getting tangled in the guides & on my tip of the rod. If you look at the line fresh off the spool it's not smooth, looks like bunch of creases all over the line. My buddy is also experience the same thing. Good thing we have a fishing line recycling bin near my house, going to give these lines a new

From: B: USA 5/9/16

Comments:this line is some of the strongest and best knot line but thick diameter & bad casting but i was fishing the mississippi and had a vmc hook and got snagged on a rock and the line or not didnt snap the hook snaped and i han 12 pound cxx on but overall good line

From: Mike: Redwing, MN 2/1/16

Comments:Their should be a warning on the box for those that want to put this line on a spinning reel the memory is the worst I've ever seen. I used it on my baitcaster & its tuff line very strong cast fine the knot strength is awesome I don't recommend this line to much memory and the diameter is a thick you lose casting distance I believe. I'm going to stick with cx premium its the best line out their if it ain't broke don't fix it!

From:Erb: CA 11/7/15

Comments:I have submitted reviews of this mono in the past. I still think this is one of the best mono's available for fishing heavy cover. I did switch to fluorocarbon for cranking a few years back, but for spinnerbaits, this line is ideal. Low stretch/abrasion & super strong for thick, heavy cover. Great value!

From:John: Knoxville, TN 11/3/15

Comments:There is no other line that compares to CXX in abrasion resistance, knot strength & breaking strength & numerous non-biased tests prove this year after year. I highly suggest 10lb for crankin' lipless & topwater, as well as spinnerbaits 1/2oz & under. 17lb can handle the bigger stuff in cover without issue. Only downside is when you get hung up, this stuff won't break off. you have to wrap in around a net handle & put the TM on speed 5 to break it.

From:Bryan: Herndon, 10/28/15

Comments:I use this line in 20lb for swimbaits and it handles them perfectly. Just bagged a 5.7 on a 9" MS Slammer and the low stretch on cxx had the fish pinned with the hookset. Also casts baits for me a little better than big game

From: Jordan: RI 9/23/15

Comments:This line is pretty much the toughest line (other than braid) and it is very good for top waters and spinnerbaits in 12lb test, my only complaint on this line is the ugly color and should have ordered the crystal clear color.

From: Daniel: Atwater, CA 9/3/15

Comments:This is the first co-polymer line I have used. I have no complaints. I used 12lb test and used it around lots of submerged timber and cover, and pulled several largemouth over 6lbs to my boat through that muck. I inspected my line and find the abrasion resistance to be acceptable for my applications.

From: Hunter: TX 2/3/15

Comments:I just returned from 3 days of fishing for Flounder and Redfish in Galveston Bay- an unforgiving aquatic environment. I used inshore baitcast rigs with 15# P-Line CXX. I was impressed! As others say, yes it is a bit stiff, but wow at the advantages. The 15# was so strong and abrasion resistant that I had to wrap it on a boga grip to get enough pull to break it off when that became necessary. Numerous times I was sure it would break off when doing this - but it held strong and pulled free!

Comments:I have never used it as a main line, but I use it as a leader for virtually every set up I have. Crankbaits, swimbaits, swim jigs, football jigs, jerkbaits, topwater, you name it--connect this to the appropriate strength of Sunline SX1 braid (about a seven-foot leader) and you're good to go. Excellent stretch, strength, and abrasion resistance.

Comments:This line has too much memory. It just wants to leap off the spool and go straight when the tag end is free. It also behaves strangelywhen it is on your baitcasting reel and you are casting. It slows down the speed in which your line goes through the level wind. You end up losing 20 to 30 feet distance during your cast. Otherwise, this line has great knot strength, great abrassion resistence, and low stretch.

Comments:I've used this line in the past with good results but recently I've had nothing but problems. Memory is passable but not great, but every nick causes a break. I fish around a lot of trees and stumps and I've had several lures snap off during the cast, not at the knot but several feet from the lure. I've had line snaps just from pulling line to clear a backlash. I tried a second spool thinking it may have just been a fluke but it did the same thing. I don't know if their manufacturing changed or what but it has gotten me to look elsewhere.

Comments:first off, i prefer flipping trees and thick brush with mono instead instead of fluoro and braid, dont get me wrong, i fish all three when the application calls for it, but i just feel mono slides through and in-n-out better than the other two. which means breaks off less. This is the best mono, 20lb test pulls 5-8lb spotted bass out of the the San Joaquin river trees. Dont laugh when you hear 5lb spotted bass, those suckers in the river fights harder than a 10lb large anyday, all in all, this line has handle some of the toughest fish in the thickest stuff out there for me, great line!, sponsor me now.......haha

Comments: Superb line very very strong. Yes memory but every one who is saying its useless just needs to chill and learn how to use it. Line conditioner proper spooling etc a little reel magic on it and you have no memory i use 12lb

Comments: This line is great it does have some memory but it is very strong. Just the other day got my bait hung in a tree the knot broke before the line did i love p line

From: Garrett: Marietta, GA

Comments:I have no problems with this line on baitcasting equipment. I use the 10lb for crankbaits, and the 12lb for spinnerbaits. This line will last for 2-3 years if you use tangle free to keep it fresh. However, on spinning equpment; it is useless. The twist from spooling this line on spinning equipment will not come out from memory problems, and yes, I put the line on the spool correctly.

Comments: Horrible memory, i had 10lb spooled on my reel about 1 hour before fishing, it already had baddd memory, i stripped my spool after 3 casts and spooled up with 8lb izor platnum, no more problems.

Comments: very strong line, however this line has way too much memory i fished it on two trips and now i am getting a different brand of line.... don't get me wrong its dead strong but at the end of the day too much memory creating unnecessary backing

Comments:Absolutely my favorite mono!! It's thick yeah and it's got some memory to it yeah. But those are the only cons. You got to make sure you get lower test then you usually would, when I use mono, I usually go with 17, or even 20 pound. But 12 pound in this line is more then enough, it's about the diameter of 17lb Trilene XL. And it's more then enough to pull big largemouth out of thick weeds and sticks. Very low stretch line, and very abrasion resistance. I use it for everything from top waters to jigs. Good sensitivity, and abrasion resistance, decent castability, and very smooth.

Comments: This line has some memory to it, but it's very strong! Don't compare line by "pound test". "Pound test" means nothing! One line with the same "pound test" as other line may be much stronger the the other! Compare lines by diameter! This line is much stronger than most lines of the same diameter. Comments: this line is huge and stiff. the 15 pound is as big as some 20 pound line i own. after one trip it was relegated to backing.

From: bassNredfish: Louisiana

Comments: There is simply not a better all around fishing line on the market today. Maximum abrasion resistance, super strong and great knots! The absolute only drawback with this line is that there is some memory to it, but that can all be solved with KVD line and lure. If you normally fish with 15 lb test, you can drop down to 12 with this line, and still have it be stronger than any other 15 lb test on the market.
