Comments: These reels are my power house HD set ups. Long cats and crankbaits. This reel (I own 3) is one of the best bait caster reels I have ever fished with. These are as good as my SMOKE S3s (I own 7). I fish big baits, heavier line and MH to Heavy rods with these reels and they handle it very well. I fish for LMB in Mexico with these reels and they have always been reliable and trouble free. Enough said.

Comments: I have this reel paired with a Denali Kovert 7' 8" Extra Heavy power Fast action Casting Rod with 60 # K9 "8" Strand Dyneema Super Braid for heavy flipping. This reel, like the Quantum Smoke S3 is super smooth, has a fantastic drag system, and has more than enough power to wrench those big girls out of the thickest of matted vegetation. It's low profile, deep spool, and light weight is the perfect combination for the ultimate reel for heavy power fishing applications.

Comments: I read the reports from years past and they were less than favorable for these reels. I ordered one anyway to try it myself, and glad I did. If there were issues with the Smoke HD in years past, Quantum has corrected them. My reel was as smooth as silk on cast and retrieve. Easy to dial in, smooth drag system, and very comfortable to use all day. Since then Ive purchased two more and have been just as pleased with them. I use one for a square bill, one for a spinner bait, and the other to cast a weightless trick worm. Will definitely be purchasing more in the future as I need to replace a few more of my older Smoke reels

Comments: I recently (March 2020) purchased a Smoke HD directly from Quantum....only because I got 50% off with a Bassmaster Classic code. My first baitcaster was a shimano Bantam, then I got a Curado, after that I have had many Shimano, Lew's, Okuma, and a 13 concept A3. Here is what I like about the Smoke. It has a small footprint for the amount of line you can put on it. I first spooled it with 20lb mono, and after about two weeks, I filled it with 65lb braid for a different purpose. It is smooth as silk, even when reeling braid under load. It casts like a dream. It is silent on the cast, which isn't always the case even with high end reels. It has a very powerful drag, it has an externally adjustable break control system, which works very well, and it is light. After fishing with it for two weeks I went back to the website and purchased two more of the same reel. I did get them for 50% off, but after using them I would have paid full price. I think the handles are comfortable, it looks good...I cannot think about anything that I would change about it. I was leary because G man and KVD left quantum and went to LEWs, but I will look at the quantum high end reels from now on. DO NOT DISCOUNT THIS REEL.Give Quantum a try....

Comments: First mistake not buying it from Tacklewarehouse second buying this reel...fished once knobs garbage full of play handle "pops"in and out,no engineering in this reel just a build house reel with quantum name on it...garbage for $200,will not purchase a Quantum product ever again,sorry for the bad review,just trying to save someone $200 on this reel.

Comments: The rubber paddles on the Quantum Smoke HD 200 reel handle are very uncomfortable with sharp non-rounded edges. The sharp edge of the reel handle rubber paddles dig into your hand and is not comfortable. I will stick with my Shamino reels from now on.

Comments: Very, very good reel! The braking system is amazing! I love the large handle. Although it pains me to admit it, I prefer this reel over my Curado because the braking system on this reel covers up all my sins and I seldom backlash, and it still casts a mile. I totally understand why people shy away from Quantum but I promise that you will not be disappointed. It comes with a 3 year warranty amdI was told that quantums customer service is great. Ive owned mine for a year and I love it!

Comments: I have two of these reels already which I use for Barra. They are great for casting and the breaking system is unreal. They are great to use as you can wok them all day without getting tired as they are very light as well.All in all a great asset.
