Overview

The River2Sea Bully Wa 2 Frog takes all of the best features of the original and combines them with innovative alterations that make it perform better-than-ever. Slightly larger than the original, the River2Sea Bully Wa 2 Frog is designed with a sealed hook channel, which prevents water seepage and increases buoyancy.

Perfect for walking over open water and thick vegetation, the River2Sea Bully Wa 2 Frog features a keeled underside that allows it to sashay with more action and less effort. Offered in a number of awesome amphibian colors, the River2Sea Bully Wa 2 Frog has graduated from a schoolyard tyrant to a true enforcer on the water.

Bully Wa 2While this isn’t my first choice for heavy pad fishing, this frog kills in open water and light vegetation! Walks the dog very easily! Soft to allow good hook-up ratio, but durable. I landed my PB largemouth at 6lbs 1oz on a Little Allen 65. Maybe not a monster in some areas, but for Oregon it’s a pretty good one.

Favorite frogWorks great, great quality. It lost a long time, easy to walk, and I love the colors. Nice stout hooks and nice and wide for great hook ups. My favorite frog to date.

Frog Barely floatsI don't know if I got a defective frog or what but my Bully Wa 55 takes a few seconds to surface when it hits the water. When I attempt to walk it, it goes subsurface. I never disliked any frog until I got this one. The colors are great though so its unfortunate.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I love the colors on these frogs, however, they are terrible around the rules. The frog constantly lands upside down and stage everything. Great hooks, great colors, just no one to fish around cover. More of an open water frog. Just my opinion.

From: Keith: California 8/14/23

Comments: I don't get all the hype about this frog. Doesn't walk all that well and it constantly flips over in heavy cover. Switched to MB Big Gabot in same outing, no flopping, walks like a charm. Is it me? The TB boys have never steered me wrong before but I just don't have any luck working this thing.

From: David: New Jersey 8/3/23

Comments: I own 3 of these frogs, two 65s and a 55, and I cannot understand some of the reviews people are leaving. I smash them on all 3. First got one because of a recommendation from the guys from TacticalBassin - a 55 Little Allen, and it has not disappointed. I've caught many, many, fish on it during Summer and Fall and the only durability issue I've had is some of the paint underneath the hooks coming off. but other than that it is a very tough frog, I've whacked this thing against rocks and branches and come away completely clean. As for the hookup ratio: maybe I'm just not as particular, but I would say I come away with 2 out of 3 fish that bite and that's good enough for me. They almost always just slurp it, I've not had any massive blowups on it. You have give them a second to eat it and then jack em' as hard as you can. gear is another important thing: I recommend a 7'3" OR 7"'4" either heavy or extra heavy rod and a reel with at least 20 lbs drag and a h igh gear ratio. med heavy or medium is not enough to get a really good hookup. Make sure your drag is cranked to the max, or use your thumb to hold the spool. It can be a little difficult to get it walking, but once you get the hang of it it has an amazing subtle walk that's good for getting finicky or pressured fish to bite. 9.5/10, Highly Recommend!

From: Isaac: Tx 12/29/22

Comments: I absolutely love this frog! Walks great and has a great hook up ratio. I have no problem sticking them with a 7'2 Heavy and have even used a MH with no problem. Good hooks, soft body and great colors

From: Fred: Colorado 9/29/22

Comments: Really, really bummed about the Bully Wa II frogs. I have used River2Sea frogs religiously for nearly 20 years, and compared to the original Bully Wa, this frog is a major disappointment. First off, the body is no longer soft and easily collapsible like the original. They added a small hole in the rear of the frog for air to escape, but then ran the skirt material for the legs directly in front of the hole, which impedes the flow of air. Not good, as it takes considerable effort to collapse the body, which will lead to missed strikes. Next, the plastic is far too thick, which also contributes to missed strikes. Also noticed the hooks on three of my most recent purchases were DULL! I have nearly 20yo original Bully Wa frogs in my box that have caught hundreds of bass, and the hooks are far sharper than the new version. And lastly, While throwing the new version on cheese mats today, I actually had one flip over on it's back while crawling from an open water hole to the mat! I have never, ever had a frog of any brand do that before! Anyway, only pro I can offer is the frog walks very well, but given all it's other issues, that's no consolation at all. Thumbs down. I want my original Bully Wa back!

From: Mike: Elk Grove, CA 7/29/22

Comments: It is a pretty good frog, used Coot color in size 65 and caught 20+ fish on it in one outing. The nose of the bait did start to tear at the nose of the frog so I repairing it with some Mend-It and I'm still using the bait. Hooks do point in a bit too far so they can stick into the body.

From: Unknown: Nebraska 6/25/22

Comments: Bought one based on recommendations - used it for the first time today. I caught 1 fish that was a pound a half and the frog broke. One pound bass ripped the hooks straight out of this thing. Maybe its a fluke but I definitely wouldn't buy another.

From: Brett: Clarksville, AR 6/4/22

Comments: Durability is a big issue. I got one of these frogs because of color. Had 10-15 bass on this frog and its already all torn up.

From: Dan: California 7/26/21

Comments: Just buy some. Trim off 1/8 inch off the tails and it walks just as good as a pad perch and popping perch. Size 55 is money.

From: KG: South Carolina 5/17/21

Comments: Picked up this frog last year on TacticalBassin's recommendation and it has not disappointed. I am not the best bass fisherman and am still learning the techniques but this frog is quite easy to walk. Even one of my buddies who had never thrown a frog managed to walk it after about 30 seconds and even caught a fish. I probably bought the wrong color but this frog has been better than my other ones because it doesn't take on much water and walks quite well

From: Jackson: Northern, California 3/4/21

Comments: The original Bully Wa was one of my favorite frogs to throw and the sequel is no different. Great hooks, and very little issues with it taking in water. Probably one of the easiest frogs to walk out there - BUT, this only applies to the larger 65 version. The smaller 55 is just ok at best...doesn't really walk at all and has issues with diving down into the water, even tho it doesn't seem to take in water. I think the bottom keeled design of the BW2 just doesn't translate too well into the smaller version of this frog, it doesn't walk, it doesn't really pop or move much water, the 55 is kind of weak all around. I'd avoid it. The 65 is top-water frog greatness, and in my top 3 top water frogs all day.

From: Josh 8/31/20

Comments: I was sceptical, even though Tactical Bassin' wholeheartedly recommends these frogs.  I picked one up to try to get an opinion for myself. 4th cast - 5.7lb Largemouth.  30th(ish) cast, 3lb+ Largemouth. Fast forward to today, which is a few months and 40+ fish later  11 fish in the kayak, ranging from 1lb to 5lbs.  One of the amazing things about this frog is that you don't lose too many hooksets. Easy to hookup!

From: Wes: Madison, WI 7/11/20

Comments: This frog walks great and I've also caught very big large mouths. If they would use owner hooks this would be a great frog. Lost a 6 lber and I knew I drove the hook home I got the bait to the boat and both hook points was rolled back. Though it was a fluke until the rest of my frogs done the same thing. The smaller version I had zero issues with. I'm currently testing new brands.

From: Jim B: Kentucky 4/18/20

Comments: Hook points rolled on 6 frogs after 1 to 5 fish. I Iove river2sea but give me a break! I'm looking for another replacement for frogs. I fish 100 days out of the year I'm a hunter  an outdoorsman I'll stand beside a good product and I'm not a brand snob I throw diawa reels with power pro braid if that tells you anything. I've caught some big 6 to 8 lbs bass on these but hooks are junk I wish tw would have the capabilitys to let us post pics I have everything you need to see.

From: Jim: Kansas City, Kentucky 9/25/19

Comments: Great walking frog it moves different than other frogs I have and I have alot of hollow body frogs, but the bully wa 2 has become my favorite I've landed alot of big fish on the black one n the little Allen  the paint does chip but who cares the fish are looking at the bottom of the frog not the paint job and after a month of fishing frog every day and catching alot of bucket mouth hogs I replace them cause they do start to rip but all frogs do and hook up ratio is great.

From: Justin: Cedarville 9/16/19

Comments: After reading the reviews and seeing the tactical bassin vids on this frog I decided to give it a try. I struggle with the walk the dog retrieve on frogs so I wanted to see if this frog lived upto the hipe of allowing the angler to perform the walk-the-dog retreive with much more ease. I tied it upto 30lb braid on my medium action 6'10" rod with a 7:1 gear ratio lews reel and performed a few retrieves. I really struggled with making the frog walk and almost gave up, until I shortened the legs down about 1"  w/one leg shorter than the other. This made all the difference and I am now able to walk the dog quit easily. I believe the drag the legs put in the water prevents most frogs from effectively walking, so creating less drag by shortening the legs is important. The bait doesn't take in water so this is a plus, I've yet to field test it this was all done in my pool but the action is like any other frog on the market so I'm sure I'll find success.

From: Jesse: Mesa 9/6/19

Comments: I cannot believe nobody has mentioned the flimsy hooks! I first tried these way back years ago and quit them due to issues taking on water and sinking. After the tactical bassin guys recommended the 2 version I decided to give them another shot. Well they kind of fixed the taking on water issue but now the hooks they're using are so flimsy I can bend them by hand. The paint is not durable at all either. Thanks but I'll stick to my Bobby's perfect frogs.

From: Luis: Lake Placid 7/14/18

Comments: Used this on a southern Minnesota lake today and caught my PB and 8 other fish. Struggles to walk sometimes, but is very seedless and clearly can catch giants

From: Travis: Minnesota 6/18/18

Comments: Not what I expected from all the hype.  Could have been having off days, but does not skip like other frogs.  Tends to dig, and when it does it bury the hook points in the body.  Body seems a little fat and heavy, and I would venture to say if you cast this for a while its gonna rip the guts out of your reel especially if you use the higher speed models.  However it is the easiest frog to walk I have ever seen, and does not load up with water.

From: John: PA 7/10/17

Comments: Caught about 15 bass ranging from 4-6 pounds and after about the 7th fish the frogs belly ripped open and started filling up with water after every cast. The design is great but the durability of the frog garbage.

From: Jamin: Missouri 7/4/17

Comments: Best frog ever made. EVER! put your Soros, bronzeyes, and snag proofs up on a shelf to get dusty. Buy these. You will thank me later. Get a dark and light color and your good. Cast out and hold on for dear life.

From: Conway - 6/26/17

Comments: Was not impressed with this frog, dont believe that it doesnt fill with water, first cast an i can squueze out just as much as a spro but even with water it still stays afloat. Stick with booyah, you have to squueze those too but there half the price, oh an one 12 inch bass an the paint chipped in two places, eleven dollars what a joke

From: Sam: Nh 6/9/17

Comments: This has become one of my favorite frogs. Extremely weedless, Walks easy and most importantly catches hogs!

From: Silas: Chelmsford 6/7/17

Comments: This frog is awesome!  NO water gets in. It walks great and can be worked through any cover.  Get it!

From: Roger: Toledo Bend 4/24/17

Comments: I love these frogs, I don't know why everyone has not switched over to these frogs. I started fishing with these frogs and decided to try 2 other companies. I was so disappointed in the other companies frogs that I gave them away to friends just so I could fit more river to sea frogs in my 3600box. sizes are great, weights are good. Really the only thing to do to these is trim the legs a little bit to your preference and then tie it on. oh yea and I never had to squeeze water out of it, ever. Love this frog.

From: Justin: Southfield, MI 1/7/17

Comments: I have been a bully wa fan for many years and wasn't happy to see the change to the new model but must admit I was wrong. The new frog is much better. It doesn't sink or fill with water and while it feels harder than the original, the larger hook gives it a better hook up ratio. It cast like a bullet and walks very easily.

From: Tracy: Trion, GA 5/2/16

Comments: The old style was better. The belly on this one sits to low in the water to effectively fish heavy cover. glad I still have some old ones

From: Slow Burner: IL 8/17/15

Comments: Great frog. It walks easy, it is soft, also my favorite part us when collapsed it has at least in choosing gap for good hooksets.

From: Tommy: Degraff, OH 6/1/15

Comments: I'm a fan of the original Bully Wa, but this new version is far superior. Though a bit heavy, it casts a mile, skips with ease, walks a lot easier than before & my favorite part: duel 6/0 EWG HOOKS! You will not find more bite on a frog. Very high hook-to-land ratio. Great job River2Sea!
