Overview

Designed by legendary angler and TV personality, Larry Dahlberg, the River2Sea Whopper Plopper delivers a sputtering topwater disruption that is begging to be crushed. Well-known for its ability to catch, Dahlberg and the folks at River2Sea originally created the Whopper Plopper for musky, but once largemouth and smallmouth started crushing, it was altered to meet the needs of bass anglers.

Whether you crawl it super slow, so you can't even hear the tail, just the tiny glass beads sizzling inside its body, or you speed it up so it throws water like a swamp buggy with the same deep, hollow whopper-plopping-fish-catching sound as the original, the Whopper Plopper gets bit. It still casts a mile, and its ability to work at the widest possible range of speeds, makes it a great tool for honing in on the most productive speeds and rhythms for that particular day. Available in a variety of colors, the River2Sea Whopper Plopper's tail is also perfectly tuned right out of the box - so it stays flexible and working properly forever.

Black whopper proper 90It works vary well I went to a summer camp and I cough over 50 bass in about 1 hour in one spot! Every cast I got one but if you don't keep the rod tip up you might loose the fish. Trust the hooks it comes with. If it has gunk on it it won't work right but the black is the best!

Buy the 190!For that bass fisherman who wants to target LARGE bass but still wants to catch other fish: The size of the 190 may be intimidating, but if you're on the fence about buying it, you should!! There is NO reason not to, and I'm glad that TW offers it. A bone 190 and bone 130 are my go to topwater lures. The 130 is an excellent lure, and is arguably the best overall size whopper plopper you could buy. It's great at catching larger fish and still catches lots of smaller ones too. Last month I caught a 5.5 on a bone 130 and have caught numerous 4# + fish. However, I've recently benched the 130 for the 190. The 190 is an excellent lure, perfect for targeting BIG bass, however, you'll also occasionally catch small fish with it. The 190 will also catch lots of 2-3 pounders, so you probably wont get skunked when you throw it. In less than 6 trips, I've already caught a 6.5 # bass on the 190. Both of these lures are better than any competetor I've tried, and are basically indestructable and are worth every penny. Chances are, you'll be the ONLY person on your lake throwing the 190. A bone 190 is a lure that you'll instantly develop confidence in, and you'll be rewarded with big fish as time passes because they likely haven't seen it yet. A slow or mid speed retrieve has worked the best for me. Colors: I like bone, but perch and loon would also work for trophy bass. If you're primariy night fishing, I'd choose loon. GEAR for the 190: I use a heavy Lew's Laser SG1, 7'4'', (sold by TW), which has an incredible value for only $60, paired with 50# braid and a decent casting reel. Only buy the 190 if you have the gear to throw it; I bought the Laser SG1 just so I could fish the 190. You could also use heavy mono if you want, just prepare for eventual line twist and stretch from thowing a 3 oz lure. I would choose braid, I use Suffix 832 low-vis green. Warning: this lure becomes VERY fun and addicting to fish!

Comments: Got the Whopper plopper 130 in loon and took it out to a lake today for the first time and first cast a 5lb LM came up and smoked it. Great action and it definitely will be tied on anywhere I go.

From: Treven: Lake Jackson, TX 6/19/21

Comments: I bought the Whopper Plopper in both the 90 and 110 size years ago. I soon was throwing only the 110 because of the aggressive sound the larger ones made. My first Whopper Plopper in the "monkey butt" color was so scarred up from catching large-mouth, small-mouth, pickerel and muskie I actually thought about mounting it in a display box. Fish don't play around when they crush a Whopper Plopper, they have bad intentions and it shows. The black (loon) is my go to color nowadays but I have several colors for different situations. Some of the most violent strikes I've ever seen from bass have been on the Whopper Plopper. They cast a mile but I found that if you used braid the lighter lines tend to wrap around the hooks while in flight. Use at least 40# braid, I like 50# best. The lure is practically indestructible. I have tried "knock-offs" of the Whopper Plopper and all fall short for one reason or the other ~ don't waste your time, spend the extra few bucks and get the River2Sea Whopper Plopper. I always have one tied on one of my rods and have caught bass in water temperatures as low as 52 degrees with a short stop and go retrieve. In summer I normally use a steady retrieve with an occasional short stop of 2 or 3 seconds. The Whopper Plopper is my favorite lure to catch a fish on. There are no cons on the Whopper Plopper, just cast, reel and be ready....

Comments: Saw this bait on a Youtube video. I love fishing top-water so I figured I'd give it a shot. Previously fished Bbaby/tiny torpedoes on my favorite water and did OK; although I missed more than I hooked. Using the 90-Perch I went out the first day and the water just exploded; caught 10 and only missed 2. I went crazy and bought several more lures in various color schemes. Yesterday I caught the biggest bass I have ever seen from that body of water using the 90-Pacman. She was number 7 of 9 and I probably missed another 2/3. The hooks are so sharp that I caught one in both the mouth AND the tail. Needless to say, the fish didn't get much of a chance to swim away. I recommend this lure to EVERYONE who enjoys bass fishing... and loves topwater. These are my go to lures from now on!

From: Jeff R: Pennsylvania 9/1/20

Comments: I absolutely love this lure, fish come out of the woodwork to take a smack at it. The first time I used it was at a highly pressured pond and I caught 3 fish in the first 5 casts. It's caught my current PB at 4.93lbs. You may want to change the hooks on it because while unhooking a fish one of the barbs just snapped clean off. Overall excellent and will always have a place in my tackle box.

Comments: Used the whopper plopper the other day at a spot that has been slow. The whopper plopper triggered hits from all size bass, my favorite go to now!!

From: Robert: Roswell, NM 10/5/19

Comments: Once you get bit on this lure it becomes addictive.  I've gotten some of the most violent topwater bites ever on this bait.  My favorite is the 130 in Loon and Bone.  Bait works great on braid or mono.  Responds immediately on the retrieve.  Works best for me when there is some chop on the surface.  I do have issues with the smaller versions being responsive on the retrieve.  They tend to want to "dig in" initially.  It's necessary to let em settle after they land and I have found that you must keep your rod tip up to get what you want.  I put split rings on all of them.  Good hooks, too.

From: Coach: Shell Knob 8/29/19

Comments: It's a game changer and triggers massive surface explosions.  Even small bass chomp on it.  It's now my favorite lure by far. My best purchase ever!

From: James: Fitzgerald 6/9/19

Comments: Thia lure is amazing got the loon 130 and bluegill 130.Bass absolutely go nuts over this lure every cast just waiting for a huge blow up. First time trying it was just getting dark just as I was gonna lift the lure out of the water and cast again a 4 pound bass smashed it. A few years a go I was using it in a pond that's pretty tough to get bass out of its more of a trout pond. But in a 3 day period I caught 3 8 pound bass 2 of which were back to back biggest was 8.1lbs didn't realize the size of the bass until I removed all the weeds off of him. One of my favorite lures and I just found one at a pond I was fishing laying in the mud alongside the water.

From: Josh: Rhode Island 5/24/19

Comments: Got my personal best LMB at 10.4lbs thanks to the WP130 in the Loon color. The first time I ever threw this bait was at dusk and dark it was getting hit harder than any bait I've ever retrieved. One of my favorite things about it is it casts far and doesn't helicopter often so I spend more time fishing and cover more ground. I can't wait to try the other colors! As a more avid saltwater fisherman I spend most of the year focusing on the brine fish but I think I'll be spending more time at the lakes because of this lure

From: J-Lee: Oceano, Ca 4/29/19

Comments: Look, here's a review from a whopper plopper master. I've been using the Whopper Plopper for about 4 years now, and I can honestly say it's the best top water bait I've ever used. DO NOT let someone's color preferences stop you from purchasing a certain one. EVERY color works like a killer, every size catches you fish. 1's, 2's to 9lbs + are the largemouth bass you'll be hooking up to. And don't be a fool, get yourself some 10-20lbs braided Line for the 90, 20-40lbs for the 130, and 190 anything above that. Stay away from flouro or mono with these baits because you will lose money! These aren't the cheapest baits but they are 100% worth it. Bust them out on overcast days and do your research for the type of colors based on the environment. Fish on

From: Anthony: Virginia 2/6/19

Comments: Love night fishing with this thing. it's 110 in AZ in August so night fishing is our only option. first time out on a pond I caught a 2lber and had about 8 short strikes. My dad was using a jointed black jitterbug and caught a 1 lber but only had 2 short strikes. I was using the loon color in the 130 size. what I really love is the versatility. You can pop it in place and allow the tail to spit up water making it look like shad on the surface, u can reel it in hard like a buzzbait, u can reel it in slow barely keeping the tail spinning, you can reel it and pop it w/whatever cadence the fish require. lots of options in a single bait.

From: Jesse: AZ 8/18/18

Comments: picked up the 130 in perch and the 190 in loon and i just caught my first fish on the 130 a few days ago and it was a 1 lber but it hit it from directly under on the front treble. I have found that if you work it with the rod tip down with the body just under the surface with the tail plopping out of the water it is the loudest. It got smashed when they were short striking on the frog. You can work it around lily pads but try you best to not work it over the pads, you will have about a pound on pads on your trebles. 10/10 bait

From: Sam Patenaude: Henniker NH 6/18/18

Comments: The 190.. oh man does size ever matter. there's nothing else to say! Every time the fish blow on this thing they swallow all 7 and a half inches.. no joke! It casts like a bullet. An oversized bullet. It drives the striper out their dang mind when it gets going.. and there's something about it's sound that really turns the fish on. Hell I'd be lying if I said it didn't turn me on.. One of the most fun baits to throw. Even if your not catching fish, your enjoying yourself! Take this bait to Liberty Island on the delta for some real fun. You be jumping out your chair every cast with a giant blow up! It's a party every fish was invited to

From: Mike: Fairfield, CA 3/14/18

Comments: I have used this bait for several years. 130 size is the absolute best size for bass. I add ball bearing swivels to the front of my mine. no twisting issues at all. never any issues with hooks or split rings. sometimes I fish a small 800 acre lake here in texas. last trip I caught 3 bass over 6lbs using this lure in about 1-1/2 hours. bone color (best) and T-1000 color work very well. next trip im gonna try the 190 size. if you decide to buy this bait in 130 or 190 size, I strongly advise using a heavy moderate rod (read: kistler KLX) a lews super duty reel with a tightened down drag and 50 power pro braid. trust me on this. wimpy medium action rods and stretchy mono are not recommended for these two sizes of this extraordinary lure. lastly, a word of caution. these lures will hurt you if you get stupid. the hooks go deep quick.

From: chuck: winnie texas 2/25/18

Comments: As a tournament bass fisherman for over 5 years, I have had plenty of time to test out all sorts of equipment. But the lure that has really caught my attention has to be the River2Sea Whopper Plopper. This thing is insane. What it is, is a topwater bait that has a tail like figure on the back that turns in the water and makes a commotion when you reel it in back to the boat. The lure exceeds in all weather types. When it's overcast and windy and you know they are hitting topwater, this is the first bait I reach for. Because it makes such a splash, it's perfect to throw in rough conditions such as wind because the fish can still find it. On the other hand, when it's slick calm this lure is still a great option to throw because it aggravates the bass and they can't stand it going over their heads, so they crush it. This lure also has a tendency to catch giant bass and with the big meaty hooks that it comes equipped with, the chance of you losing fish on it are slim to none. This bait is an absolute blast to fish with. The explosions you get when you throw this lure are unreal, bass will literally jump up to three feet out of the water to hit this bait. I would highly recommend this lure to whoever wants to just go out, throw a top water and have a good time- and hey, who knows, you might just catch a giant on it.

From: Unknown 1/17/18

Comments: One of the most underrated Smallmouth baits in the galaxy. When the top water bite is on, Smallmouth will absolutely destroy a Whopper Plopper. The smaller size gets 100 times more hits than the bigger size. But for largemouth, the big one knocks them dead! The Bone is a great color as well as Monkey Butt.

From: Unknown - 1/15/18

Comments: The 7 inch one is the bomb for stripers and bluefish. I've even had bonito chase these things in. The Lucy color is the way to go.

From: Jack - Long Island 10/5/17

Comments: We have been using this lure for the better part of the year at my house. I find that the action needs to be enough of a head turner. From bass to crappie and perch, we have hit everything on it. Fish strike it that are nearly the size of it. We have been out fishing nearly two days each week and at lakes where sometimes fishing is horrible in the midwest. yet we have  one been skunked two times this year. And a majority or the year we went out to fish from 6:30pm to 8pm after work. If that doesn't tell how effective these are, I don't know what will.

From: Unknown 9/20/17

Comments: Finally bought one. Got the 130. Absolute amazing. Doesn't even matter what time of day you use it. Caught my PB twice. A 5lb and a 7lb smoked it mid-day.

From: Unknown 9/16/17

Comments: NO FEAR !!!  Say this loud and proud. The 190 is a Beast and my personal favorite. Bigger (on top) is better because fish only see half of the bait. Fish this lure as slow as the prop will turn, never stopping and starting. In most cases, this is the best retrieve. However, in high wind or strong current, speed up the pace and hold on for a rod breaker. This "Hawg Caller" will cast to the moon and covers water like no tomorrow. Do yourself a "Big" favor and try one out. It definitely has its' place in any serious angler's tackle box! Good Fishing!

From: Jeff: Perry, Georgia 7/21/17

Comments: First off, this thing is legit and I'm a believer. I fished a lake this past weekend that I've never seen before.  It's known for having very big largemouth. Tried about a dozen different lures (ned rig, senko, crankbait, spinnerbait, creature, jig, drop shot, etc) only got 1 on the senko and it was under a pound.  Didn't even get a bite on anything else.  After a couple hours I decided to start throwing the 130 plopper in bone.  About 5 casts and a huge explosion, landed a solid 3 pounder.  Kept throwing the plopper all day and landed a 5.5lb and a 5lb.  Had another big one throw the lure right next to boat.  I've never caught two over 5lb on the same day.  Actually i've only caught one over 5lb ever, so to get 2 on this trip was amazing.  The action wasn't fast, maybe a bite every 30 mins, but they were ferocious.  The bass just explode on this thing, it's super addictive.  My setup was 7' MH baitcaster with 30lb braid. I also have a 90 size in Bluegill.  I prefer the 130 size for sure.  The 90 seems to always spin unless you have a super slow retrieve. If there is any wind or chop, forget about it. I'm going to get a 110 and see if it's better.

From: James: Virginia 7/11/17

Comments: I fish a lake that is not known for great top water action, yesterday in the rain I decided to tie on my 130 size perch pattern WP.  Caught 16 and missed 4 all between 2 and 3.5 lbs.  They absolutely crushed this bait from 6am till 1pm!!

From: Darren: Morris CT 7/15/17

Comments: very interesting bait.  It is in my top 3 to throw for tiger muskies near where i live but rarely will I throw it for bass.  What happens with the bass is they come up to the surface to check it out and it just snags them on the way....at least with the big version. If you are in the south or out west, this may be different, but on the northeastern part of the states, I would go with the smaller version if you are going after bass only.

From: Tyler: New York 6/29/17

Comments: This lure is amazing it seems to catch fish everywhere it goes and just makes the fish eat it and it's really durable after at least 50 fish it still held up and just one of the hooks was slightly bent.

From: Unknown - Illinois 6/25/17

Comments: Proud owner of a 130 I Know It color Plopper!!!  I've only used it once but got some fast action early in the morning.  No kickers yet but that's coming.  My only concern is the split ring that is attached to the eye.  I assume without it the bait may not perform as well.  My issue with the split ring is that when you are tying braid using a palomar knot, it almost always ends up where the split ring is only single wire trapped between the tips of the closeout.  Braid is very sensitive to nicks and at $17 a "PLOP", I would hate to lose this thing because my braid got damaged by the ring.  Does anyone tie directly to the eye?  I could replace with an oval ring to eliminate the problem.

From: Kevin: Jupiter, FL 5/23/17

Comments: This topwater has to be one of the most popular right now and for good reason. I have tried multiple colors and sizes during traditional  topwater magic hours and have found that the loon and the yellow head in the 90 and 130 sizes to be the most consistent down here in Florida regardless if it was clear or tannic water.   Using a yellow head 90 I was able to catch a 10lb 9oz largemouth on one day and both my thumb and index finger the next. As such, I can personally attest to how sticky the treble hooks are.  If you do change the rear hook, be sure it's the same style and size as the original or it could either be too heavy to work correctly during the retrieve or too short to allow for complete rotation of the fin.

Comments:
**Update 6/6/17**i left a review back on 4/15/17, and now that ive thrown the bait quite a few times, id like to revise my previous comments.. i noticed the 90 size doesnt get going doing its thing rite away once i start my retrieve. once my line catches up to the front of the bait, its fine. till then it acts like its only plopping at 80% insted of 100% ploppage. i reciently added a split ring to the front ring on the bait just like the 130size, hopefully this fixes the issue. ONLY have this issue with the 90 size. the 130 size is perfect and thats all that needs to be said about those:) river2sea does offer a wide variety of color options and there ALL on point, however in Ohio, michigan, and Indiana id recommend Phantom Shad, Loon/Yellow head, or Bone as one of those should get it done for ya.
**Original**purchased 8 of these about a month ago. 4 of the 90 size and 4 of the 130 size. i am still new to these however if purchasing, id highly recommend the larger 130 size over the smaller 90 and here's why. the larger size bait has WAY more action to it the the 90. dont get me wrong, they both have great action but add wind over 5mph and or chop/boat traffic and the 90 just doesnt do all that well. throwing the 130 size gives u more options on the water when throwing this bait. the 90 has its place, thats for sure. it is such a subtle and enticing smaller version, but u are limited in my opinion on when and where. river2sea nailed it with color options!! personal favs r Slime, Yoda, Phantom Shad, and Terminator, although most of there colors r xcellent.. the hooks r super sharp as well, so be warned.. i now throw the 90 on my 7' med with 8# fluro spinning setup. i throw the 130 on my 7' med with 15# fluro hybrid casting setup.

Comments: bass hit this lure like they want it I think it just pisses them off. Caught 4 nice bass, should of re tied, hooked another set back and lure came off. Thought I had lost my new favorite lure. Then small bass jumped threw lure and I was able to retrieve tied back on next cast caught a nice 5 lb bass. What a day love this lure. It's a great combination of chugger, buzz bait, and an all round top water lure. Was using bluegill pattern can't wait to try frog and shad color. Thank you.

Comments: The fish don't hit it, it hits the fish. It's the most interesting fishing lure in the world. Great bait, but I have yet to catch anything but weeds with it. Doesn't matter, it's still fun to throw!

Comments: killer lure for smallmouths, caught two 5# on susky river with perch pattern 90

From: BO GRITZ: Walnutport PA 3/12/17

Comments: This thing is a fish-catching machine. And even when it isn't catching fish, it's still fun to throw. Plop plop plop plop plop.. this thing is amazing. It's really durable too. I've gotten it stuck on boulders, tules, tree limbs, dock roofs, power lines, rose bushes, other boats, anything you can think of, and it never fails to survive the abuse of yanking it loose. It's a tank, I mean a tank. It gets touchy when weeds get wrapped in its prop, but it demolishes everything else. Be careful throwing it around docks though. If it hits the dock, it will blow the dock to pieces, and you don't want to be liable for that. That's how tough this thing is. It is the Chuck Norris of fishing lures. It will win the battle with any striper, bass, catfish, tarpon, shark, whatever, no matter how big or small the fish. The whopper plopper just wins.

Comments: Absolutely love this bait! Only problem I've had with it is one of the hooks bent really easy but that's easily overlooked. You can buy new hooks. Definitely going to buy more! 4.9 Rating

From: Ben: Missouri 2/21/17

Comments: This is a killer topwater bait in the spring and summer. I have not had a problem with the hooks or the paint. It's a little pricey but isn't everything these days?

From: Felipe: NJ2/7/17

Comments: I religiously threw the 90 in the perch color last all fall and still cant believe I never got one smallie to hit it.  I just watched Chris Lane tear them up on Lake Of Ozarks this past weekend on MLF with (i think the 130 size) in bone color.  Definitely going to get one of those and see if it doesnt make a difference in 2017.  The action on this bait is too good to not be productive on my lake, especially in the Fall.

From: Big J: Western NY 2/6/17

Comments: I got a phantom shad in 130 for saltwater and even though i haven't caught anything YET (ive only used it once) i have full confidence that it will tear up the reds, snook, and large trout

From: Nathan I: Bradenton, Florida 1/5/17

Comments: This bait has been amazing. Throwing side by side with my fishing partner, (I was using the Whopper Plopper, he was using a Jitterbug) I was continuously catching fish while the smallmouth paid little attention his bait. When a fish hit this, it was hooked. I missed only one fish while using this in Canada. The hooks are extremely "sticky" & it's a blast to use. I'm looking forward to trying the 130 on Hybrid Stripers this fall!

From: Jim: OH 10/2/16

Comments: Do yourself a favor and use a snap swivel with this lure if you're fishing it on mono. When retrieved quickly, it's body will roll occasionally and cause line twist. Experiment with your retrieves to see what the fish want. It's a nice lure that will draw slurps to ferocious attacks.

From: Fishthefox: IL 9/21/16

Comments: Great bait! have caught multiply species in this lure including gar, bass, perch and almost a alligator! Great buy. highly recommend

From: Jace: USA 9/14/16

Comments: I just returned from a fishing trip to Canada & can't say enough good about the Whopper Plopper! I threw it at the same time that my fishing buddy was throwing other topwater baits & I was catching smallmouth when he wasn't getting any interest in his at all. Fantastic!

From: Jim: Lucasville, OH 9/10/16

Comments: Amazing Lure - Started small with the 90 in Perch and fished it a lot this summer, caught many 1-2lb large mouth. Small works well in fairly calm water - then as fall starts rolling in one evening I hooked in a 5lb green back (Big for NH)- landed it for my PB- Stoked right! So my fishing partner starts throwing one too and lands a couple when nothing else is hitting. - He says let's upgrade to the larger size - We get 3 in the 130 and start throwing 'em. I commit hard the first day with it - throwing it everywhere except heavy veg. I get a 3, he gets a 3, he gets another 4.  I lose a 3. At this point I'm like hell yes and staying hard with the the "I Know It 130." Getting into the evening and we are coming around the island - he throws it way up close to shore and snags a log  so I toss one out in front of us while he's shaking trying to pop it off, plopping along and a then BAM! White frothy explosion in front of the boat. I set it hard - we're hooked up folks, it's pulling hard and I'm calling for the net. This thing is ripping on it and 30 seconds later I've got a 6.2lb bass all up in the net. HELL YES. New PB. Thanks River to Sea! P.S. I go out the next night by myself because I have this deep urge to keep throwing it and 5th cast I got another slashing ruckus right in front of me 4.6lbs of ferocious large mouth. You can bet I'll be throwing it all evening again.

Rigging info: I'm throwing this on straight 65lb braid with a 7' Heavy rod. Lure weight is 1 3/8 oz. which is significant - but can cast it a long way in any wind and it works great in a light chop too!

From: Jordan: NH 9/6/16

Comments: This bait is a must have! If you don't have one do yourself a favor & pick one up. Yes they are $20 but the memories and fish you will get will be well worth it. I throw the 130 size in loon. My favorite moment with mine was when I caught a five pounder then next cast out, caught my 7.3lber (my pb) on it! Hooks hold up good, but when they dull or bend, I have to recommend the Trokar heavy wire trebbles. As they are the strongest I've used. This bait throws good on a medium heavy rod and catches all kind of fish, so don't be afraid to go with the big size. Great job Rive2sea, the whopper plopper is the best topwater lure hands down!

From: Jake: MO 8/15/16

Comments: this is the best top water bait on the market. Went the other day and between me & my brother caught 20 plus small mouths.

From: Joe: Bristol, IN 8/12/16

Comments: I got the whopper plopper a while ago & used it at my friends lake. I only used it. Caught around 11 bass. They are amazing around lily pads. Besides when it gets stuck on them. I ordered the 3.5 inch & thought it wasnt going to work. But it worked 100% woulf recommend it to anyone who cant catch alot of bass. Love the product. 9.9/10. The only think that isnt really a matter to me is that the sound it makes if grass or whatevrr get in it. It stops and is a tad bit of struggle to get it out. Besides that its the best lure i have used!

From: Logan: 8/7/16

Comments: This bait gets fish where other topwaters won't & the colors really cant be beat. This is a true match the hatch lure that will tap you into bigger fish pretty much wherever you chuck it. Now lets see a rainbow trout #190! If they dont make it they need to It would slay giants.

From: Joe: Montague, CA 8/4/16

Comments: Don't forget the 190 size plopper. This is a true beast slayer. Fish this in rough chop or fast current for some serious fun. Night fishing is ok with a slow "putt, putt" retrieve. Braid or heavy mono throw this bait to the moon. All of the River2Sea Whopper Ploppers are productive, but the 190's are for the Goliaths. Rod Up & Tight Lines!

From: Carl: Georgetown, GA 7/29/16

Comments: This lure slays! The stock hooks are sticky sharp & bass can't come off.

From: Max: Weston, FL 7/28/16

Comments: I bought two in 130 size. It cast a mile. It sounds & feels like i am pulling a jet ski through the water & fish hammer it. It's a great bait & one of the few i can say man am i glad i bought them. I have not had any issues other then grass/weed's getting stuck in its prop making it the whole bait spin, use a swivel like others have stated too. I will be buying & trying other colors.

From: Waynorth: MI 7/26/16

Comments: Excellent top water bait. I have every 90 & 130 that's is made & they have all produced.   I have my favorites (Pac Man & Rainbow Trout). I fish the Susquehanna river around the Harrisburg area for Smallmouth & they cannot resist these baits. I would recommend these to everyone. One downfall is the split rings and the hooks. You must replace these before using them in my opinion.

From: Larry: Lewisberry, PA 7/26/16

Comments: If you are fishing a farm, neighborhood, or golf course pond, this lure is a must have. The action is like nothing else available and it catches fish like no other top water lure can. I use the Loon color in size 90 at dawn and dusk and the results have been amazing.

From: Tyler: PA 7/6/16

Comments: Something to be aware of. If you let the lure sit after the cast or during the retrieve it starts to sink.  It sinks tail first. I tried smaller hooks but it still sank. Tried it with no tail hook & it floated. Just something to be aware of if fishing around vegetation. This happened with the smaller size.

From: Mike: TX 6/29/16

Comments: Great bait, caught a lot bass boat with it. Big recommend is to get 30 lb braided line the bass hit so hard don't want to lose other bait.

From: James: IN 6/2/16

Comments: This is an amazing lure crushed big large mouth at guntersville with it this weekend but also got one of the hooks deep in my finger so it definatley comes with very sharp hook all around a great bait

From: Brandon: Chattanooga, TN 5/31/16

Comments: This bait is awesome & very unique & not just another frog or rat lure. I replace the stock hooks with Owner ST36s. The only bad thing I noticed is the rear treble will occasionally get caught on the tail & cause the whole lure to spin but its not that big of a deal. My first bass on the 130 Perch color was a 5-4! I will have one tied on all summer & fall.

From: Bassmaster: VA 5/29/16

Comments: Got the 130 size in Perch & finally used it yesterday evening. I caught 2 fish right before dark & lost a couple others. Not because of the lure, they were just short striking. Like any other top-water bait with treble hooks you cannot fish it in grass or other cover. The action & noise the WP makes is like no other lure on the market & as the ad says you can cast it a mile. The one issue I have with it is the rear hook will make contact with the prop stopping it, which makes the entire lure spin causing your line to twist up really bad. So, I suggest placing a swivel at the line tie to prevent line twist when it does foul up.

From: ED: Bastop, TX 5/17/16

Comments: I got the 90 in my Mystery Tackle Box. Took it out to my local river & absolutely crushed smallmouth with it. They just couldn't resist! The option to retrieve at any speed great. Probably one of the funnest lures to fish! Buy one or 10!

From: Brett: MI 5/12/16

Comments: I have had this bait for awhile and I've only had one problem with one, the wire where the tail spins on was bent. After I bent that straight it worked perfect. Great hooks, great action, great buy.

From: Alex: NC 5/10/16

Comments: Got the 90 version of Blue Blood in my Mystery Tackle Box & I am very impressed. the first time i used this i caught 10 bass in less than an hour. I would definitley recommend this for pond fisherman.

From: Cal: VA 5/1/16

Comments: I got the 90 version of this and was so excited to get fishing with it.  on the 3rd cast i noticed that the action was weird so i figured it was tangled.  when i reeled it in i realized that the tail had broken off.  the lure never even hit anything.  Couldn't be more dissapointed

From: Steve: Holland, MI 3/28/16

Comments: great idea, but I expect better hooks for a lure this expensive. you must replace the hooks ASAP. i used two them in a tournament this week. first bite i had broke a hook, second bite bent a hook wide open and a one pounder came off at the boat. love the noise and action this bait has but i will be changing all the hooks.

From: Adam: FL 10/24/15

Comments: I purchased the 90 size in the Rat Ta Tat color. I was a little hesitant at first to spend 13 bucks on it, but boy is it worth it. The tail turns fast even at slow speeds, and it leaves a nice trail of bubbles and has a unique sound. It casts far for only weighing 3/8 ounces too. I couldn't keep the fish off of it the morning I tried it out. I will say this though, it's action is top notch but even a little bit of grass or weeds getting caught on the hooks or tail can throw the action off completely. It's best for fishing on the edge of cover, not in it. I also noticed that at high speeds the entire lure started to slowly spin as the speed of the tail increased. Not a huge problem unless you plan to burn it back to the boat on a 7.1:1 reel. Overall a great lure, and my new favorite top water bait.

From: Ryan: MA 10/12/15

Comments: I got my whopper plopper in the 90 perch color today and took it out for the first time today. I started the day using a spook and stirred up a few largemouth but nothing huge. Pulled out the whopper plopper and was amazed how easy it was to work and was so versatile, i could walk it, chug it, burn it in or slow retrieve it. The first 5 casts i pulled in 6 fish. Yes 6. I got two largemouth on one cast, the dual trebble hook design hooked them both and this thing stood up to two 2 pound bass fighting for it. Extremely impressed to the point I'm gonna restock on a few more colors. Highly suggest this lure!

From: Rick: Otisville, NY 8/27/15

Comments: Best top water bait ever. I use a lot of buzz baits & this is by far much better. You can slow retrieve or burn them and they plop either way really nice and they float. Not sinking like a buzzbait. Impressed with these baits. Blueblood & bone are the ones to get...

From: Steve: Third Wheel, TN 8/25/15

Comments: I got a 130 and hadn't been fishing it, I knew the 90 worked so I just used it, but yesterday I decided I'd give the 130 a shot, in the first hour of using it on the ca delta I had got a 7.2 pounder and a 5.8 pounder. I recommend these baits to everyone.

From: Drake: Danville, CA 8/2/15

Comments: Took it out a few days ago for the first time. I was impressed! The sound this thing puts out is definitely in its own world! So versatile! Will be adding a few more colors. Bought two.

From: Keith: USA 7/22/15

Comments: Love this lure! Out fished a buzz bait by 3 to 1 & all were larger fish. Gotta get a few more.

From: David: Eureka, MO 7/10/15

Comments: Got a 90 in perch pattern. Caught 40+ 2-4lb smallmouths on it on first try. My fishing partner couldn't get bit on a buzzbait, horny toad or popper. Whopper plopper was the only thing they'd bite. He now owns two :-)

From: David: Boise, ID 6/3/15

Comments: Threw the 130 Yellow Head over Memorial Day weekend & caught them all day. Bass of all sizes hit the 130 size and they have no problem hitting it. One downside I've found, is that they either need to make a medium (110) size, or downsize the hooks on the 130. I noticed that most of the time, this thing is attacked from the front, and when that happens, the smaller bass were accidentally getting the bottom treble in either the gut or gill. None bled, but I definitely pulled the hooks out of the body/stomach more than a few times. I don't know if it's a design issue or not, but I will be swapping out trebles and buying a 90 Size to see if that fixes the issue. Overall, Great Bait! Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

From: Sam: MO 5/25/15

Comments: I got the 90 size and this is a great lure for big bass. Something different then your standard buzz bait that the fish havent seen before and the best part is it floats so you can change it up mid retrieve. The only problem I have with this lure is I bought 2 in the perch pattern which has these bigger really nice O-rings. I also bought 2 in the Rat color and the O-rings were the cheapest weakest Ive ever seen. Unfortantly I lost a 4 pounder that ripped the hook off before I realized so make sure you check the O-rings and replace as needed. Don't understand how the same lure comes with different size o-rings.

From: Jim: Saint Cloud, MN 5/21/15

Comments: When I throw the 130 & slow it down to a slow chug It gets destroyed from 10 inch spots to 6 lb blacks. Awesome bait

From: Cecil: CA 5/14/15

Comments: got two 130 and a 90 haven't thrown the 90 yet but I throw the 130 morning day and night & they get smacked, love the ploppers who ever gave this bait a bad review is on drugs..

From: Jeff: Taylor, CA 4/30/15

Comments: River2Sea needs to make a 110 size. 3/4 oz. They are failing on size on an awesome bait. The 90 is ok, 130 is to big.

From: Jason: CT 12/23/14

Comments: I like the 90. You can fish it like a popper and it makes a very unique hollow Rico-like sound, but it's heavier than a popper so it casts easier. I like this bait, so do the fish.

From: Brian: Los Gatos, CA 12/15/14

Comments: Bought a 90 and a 130. First time out with each I caught fish. The 90 gets more bites and basically takes the place of an open water buzzbait pattern. Used a short jerk a time or two as soon as it lands close to cover, then buzz it back to the boat. The 130 is EXTREMELY loud on the steady retrieve. Fish catchin baits!

From: Dave: Charlotte, NC 10/21/14

Comments: Today I took a friend from Atlanta Ga out to California delta for his first fishing trip in delta. He landed two good sized striped bass on bone colored Whopper Plopper (WP), lost 2 strippers during his retrieve and missed 4 hook ups (too excited) after having never seen one let alone used one before. Needless to say he is now looking to buy his own WP to use back home. They work to pull stripped bass and large mouth to the surface. Forget naysayer comments.

From: Percy: Elk Grove, CA 10/14/14

Comments: I got 4 130's last week. I don't know why people put this bait down. Less than 1 week of throwing this bait every evening at my home lake I caught my best fish of the year 5lb. 7oz. and coming from delaware that is a big deal. I just ordered 3 of the 90's cant wait to get them in a couple days. This should let the 1-2 lbers in on the action. This is by far the best topwater bait I have used next to a Ramba. Do not miss the boat. I have fished 37 years and he been in a club for 25 years. Your loss if you don't tie one on ( I was not paid or compensated to write this post)

From: Dion: Wilm, DE 10/8/14

Comments: Well I have 4 and all float. Both sizes and I have no issues with them. Even hit one on a rock casting and it didn't crack. If they sank why didn't you return them? For those who want a real review these have their place. Just got 2 of the 90's and the first fish on it was a nice 4lber. Great bait if you are looking to show them something different.

From: William: Long Beach, CA 9/29/14

Comments: Capt. Andy I own 2 of the 130's and 4 of my fishing partners own 2 each. Both of mine still float like a bobber after 2 years of fishing with them. There is a whopper plopper tied on at all times. I have never had a problem with either one. River2sea knocked it out of the park with this one

From: Dan: NH 9/24/14

Comments: I bought 2 whopper ploppers before I took a trip to Lake Champlain.  A lake I grew up fishing and know well. I couldn't get a single bite on this bait. Not from a largemouth, smallmouth or pike. Both of them sank like a rock, took 20 feet of reeling to rise to the surface and never got even a swirl, morning noon or after dark. The bass on lake Champlain are pretty topwater friendly,  especially after dark. While buzzbaits, spooks and frogs all got eaten the whopper ploppers never got a sniff. I'd be willing to bet all those reviews are fabricated. I called and e-mailed river2sea and never got a response.  Only because these are advertised as floating baits. As you can imagine, its tough to get a bait that weighs 1 3/8oz  that sinks to perform as a topwater.

From: Capt. Andy Putetti: Islamorada, FL 8/16/14

Comments: This bait us the best I throw it in Tilley pockets and I get rocked by large mouth. I love this bait thanks R2S.

From: Shad: Concord, CA 3/13/14

Comments: This bait is one of the best topwater baits out on the market. I am from IL and let me tell you, size doesn't matter. This lure is large but it catches fish. I have caught large bass with this lure. Excellent dusk/dawn lure. Loon color is the top producer.

From: Nathan: Moline, IL

Comments: This is a great idea it just needs to be scaled down a little more. I would like to know what kinda of set up people are thowing this with. Thanks

From: Adam:Foristell,MO

Comments: It casts too far and is too noisy and splashes too much water. Scares all the small fish away! Don't buy it. :))

From: D: MN

Comments: This lure is the best topwater lure I have ever used, and I've used just about all of them. I catch the biggest smallies on this, and an occasional musky. I did have a musky rip off one of the hooks from a treble but luckily he had the other two buried in his mouth as well! I have yet to take this on a largemouth lake and test it because I live near a world class smallmouth lake and have a hard time leaving it when I get as much topwater action as I do throughout the year with this bait, thanks river2sea!

From: Justin: Northern WI

Comments: First off I love this lure! It catches large mouth bass pretty good,Thumbs up for just a great design!!  But its just to big for small mouth bass fishing, As I miss 90% of my bites. As they just cant get a good hold on it. I really wish it was smaller say 3 1/2" to 4" would make it one of the best top water baits ever.So i'm putting this one on on the top of my wish list!!

From: Robert: Russell Springs KY

Comments: I don't always write reviews unless I feel that my review is going to help others. First off, I was very skeptical about this bait since it work almost as buzz bait but boy was I wrong. This bait does a lot that a buzz bait can not do. It can float which is very useful when you want to stop-go method. When you stop this bait, it would sit upright which works very good when setting the hook. You can walk the dog with this bait and still splashing tons of water to get notice. I bought this bait on a local bass shop because they got the color that i feel more comfortable throwing with. Works very good early in the morning when the water is calm. I love this bait. You gotta have it in your boat.

From: Brian: CA

Comments: I fish the Susquehanna river in PA for smallmouth and musky and I have a few of the big ones that work and one nite I caught a 5 pound smallie on the big one so I got acouple of the small ones and I throw them rite before dark and kill smallies on them id rock some wire though cause the small one gets attention of muskies too...great plug you can bend the tail and it goes rite back to place....practice catch and release the fish will thank you so will the anglers.

Comments: Just like my fellow windy city boys have said it, This lure rocks.

From: Ryan: Chitown, IL

Comments: I tried this lure for the first time today and caught a nice shoal bass in the river. I hit a bunch of rocks with it, and have not caused any damage to it so far. It casts a mile. I am going to catch a lot of fish with this lure.

From: Adam: Atlanta, GA

Comments: great lure cought muskie, pike, bass, pickerel, and be leave it or not but even a wallie

Comments: Guess what boys?  The little version catches muskies too.  I have got to stop buying lures for my pops.  I gave him one of these in munky butt and he goes and catches a 53 inch muskie with it.  From now on he's only getting golf equipment for Christmas.

From: Big J: Houston, TX

Comments: I've been bass fishing for a long long time and I'll tell you what this is hands down the best top water bait I have ever thrown. This bait will put you on the hot seat. I have never heard such a gurgle come from a bait and you can work it at all speeds and stands straight up on pause. I will have a couple of each in this bait in case I break off because the fish do explode like no other on this bait. River 2 sea you nailed it. The only one thing I would do to this bait is change the hooks to a 2x strong because they will bend out with the violent strikes this bait gets.

From: Troy: Auburn, CA

Comments: I brought the chubby color up to the Wolf River in WI and got 11 pike and a 5lb Lg Mouth on the first afternoon fishing it. This is a "must have" bait.

From: Brandon: Antioch, IL

Comments: yes!!! I have been waiting for these since icast,I have this lure made by joe bucher (a musky size lure) and bass still clobber this thing and love to tear it up on the surfacee.now that somebody makes one specific for bass,I am way excited to get n use these for so awesome topwater fun.and to see it in loon is even better, cause the musky lure I have is in loon also and knowing what bass do to these type of lures already in that color, its going to be great.get yourself some of these lures they r one of a kind and make a sound no other lure/topwater bait makes, its loud and calls up the big ladies of the lake....ploop,ploop,ploop.
