Comments: I saw a YouTube video by NDYakAngler where he fished with one of these rats. I am a person that loves odd and unique lures. So I got one. It took a little while but I have caught some fish with it. I have even caught a 7 inch bass who thought he was a lot bigger. some people have said they have had broken bills and arms and tails falling off. I have had none of these issues.

Comments: Those of you saying your rat bill broke off and the tail flew off, after only one fish, are straight up lying!! and probably work for spro or some other rat bait manufacturer. I've caught countless fish on my one single white savage gear rat. Everything on this bait is robust, from the split rings, to the hook's, the bill and the construction of the bait itself. All are heavy duty. I still change my hook's out regardless, but the stock hook's will get the job done, especially for large mouth, because these things are made for musky sized fish. This is by far the most realistic rat bait on the market. It also has the most rigging option's and it can be fished as a wake bait or sub-surface bait. There's a line tie on the rat's nose to make him dive sub-surface, or a line tie on the bill itself, to wake the rat on the surface. The largest rat comes with two trebles hooks on the belly, stock, and a hook keeper on top for a stinger hook. So if you wanted to sw im this rat over the tops of lilly pads or moss etc. Then all you have to do is remove the belly trebles, and attach a single stinger hook to the back of the rat and latch it into the hook keeper. The rat does come with a spare tail, which btw are durable as they come, and if you put some superglue on your stock tail, you'll never have to worry about replacing it. Extra tails and Appendages can also be bought from SavageGear. Guy's you don't need a custom $100 rat to catch fish, the SavageGear and Spro Rat are all you need, and at a fraction of the cost

Comments: Unbelievably realistic. Absolutely smoked them this morning on it. Fish from 1lb- 3lb all freight trained it! This thing is legit and held up 100% Great job Savage gear!
From: Fred: Colorado 8/31/21
Comments: Do not buy this bait, it is cheaply made, first attempt to change the tail and pieces around the tail lock started breaking off. Poor quality.

Comments: I fished with the 7.75" rat in brown at a favorite honey hole of mine this evening and caught a 6.8 pound largemouth on the third cast. The single treble hook did the job. It is sticky sharp. The fish pretty much hung itself. The action on this thing is very realistic. I tied to the lip tie to keep the rat waking on the surface. Experiment with your retrieve speed, but this bass choked it on a very slow crawl with no pauses. Some of my friends thought that the photo I took was a joke because of the rat. They obviously don't know anything about the largemouth bass!

Comments: It has great realistic action and the tail on mine holds up well, it is a great bait. From: Chase: Alabama 12/30/19
Comments: One fish strike shattered the back tail section on the first use out of the package. The plastic completely broke apart, waist of money.
From: Donny - Birmingham, AL 12/18/18
Comments: The most realistic rat I've ever seen. The action is absolutely incredible. However i do wish they had the stinger hook option available on every model. As for the the previous posters claiming they broke the bill and the tail came of after one fish.. I've caught several fish on mine and have NEVER had any issue with the durability of this bait.
From: Steve - Mississippi 5/3/18
Comments: Don't waste your money on this I've had the lips break off of 2 of them on me and after one or two fish the tails fly off you're way better off buyinf the Spro rat over this.
From: Dylan - Midland, MI 12/18/17
Comments: The tail comes off after one fish jumps... terrible tail design. Works better with a V and M Needle Worm.
From: Blake: Guntersville, Al 8/30/17
Comments: This rat just got me the first hawgs of my year!! Three of them actually including a 7 pounder. Didn't dive as deep as I expected and its a little difficult to cast a long way especially in the wind but all in all its a great bait and well worth the buy. Caught all but a couple that hit it, if y'all are worried about the one big treble hook don't be, just give it an extra split second to load up and give it a hookset of champions. Action is amazing, super realistic with a nice subtle knock. Great job savage gear on another great bait!!!
