Overview

No crankbait box would be complete without a few Wiggle Warts in it. We offer some of the best fish-catching colors that Storm makes. The 2" size dives 7 to 12 feet on a long cast. These baits are noted for their fish-enticing wide wobble and steep diving characteristics. They are able to reach depth quickly and stay there longer, which in turn, gives you more time in the strike zone. In addition, the paint jobs and finishes are beautiful. Make sure you check out the Phantom Craws. Wiggle Warts are used for just about any gamefish that inhabits North America including salmon and steelhead, walleye, and of course, largemouth and smallmouth bass. Bump one of these beauties off a few sticks or grind them through the rocks and see if you don't get the rod ripped out of your hand. Like it says on the box "Always think like a fish, no matter how weird it gets."

Bass still choke Wiggle WartsI hear a lot of negativity around Wiggle Warts and how they are sub par compared to pre-rapala wiggle warts and more modern, hi-tech crank baits, but when the time is right bass still choke Wiggle Warts. From late November, to probably March, for me a Wiggle Wart is tied on in my boat. When big fish are grouped up pre spawn, bass will absolutely annihilate a wiggle wart. Wiggle Warts have a great price and do their job, so I would advise people not to give up on Wiggle Warts because they are still my go to crawfish-type imitating crank bait.

Fished old warts and newWhile these don’t have the same erratic action my pre raps have, they crush smallies! My buddy and I were getting into em cold water cranking. We each caught at least 25 and the smallest smallie we caught was 2lbs. While they’re not 100% like the pre raps, they are still a great crankbait and are worth having in the tackle box.

ScrapI never go out of my way to write a negative review, but today is different. Today I am looking at a pile of new warts that won’t run right no matter what I try. To say they don’t track straight is a huge understatement. I never thought I’d be looking to spend the ridiculous amount of money for some old warts. Very frustrating!

Previous Feedback

Comments: They definitely changed some of the colors on these, the phantom green and brown look terrible, will they catch fish? Probably but there's way better options out there now like the Rock Crawler, I use to swear by these things and still have some old ones that are awesome but these new warts are a hard pass for me.

From: Brandon : Ky 8/26/23

Comments: Not sure what the person who wrote the review below is on about. Nothing has changed on these baits. Colors are great, sharp hooks, I had to tune 2 out of the last 10 I bought. Crankbaits all require tuning, so that's not a big deal. Most importantly they catch fish.

From: Denny: Georgia 3/5/23

Comments: Looks like they reworked these again.....Rapala just keeps making them worse, the new colors are terrible looking and I gave up trying to tune the couple I bought after about 15 mins....I know there only 5 bucks but I'd rather pay up for a Rock Crawler than this junk.

From: Unknown: 2/27/23

Comments: As you can see by all of the reviews these things still work great.. Somewhere along the line some people started to say they weren't as good since rapala bought the company. In A-day when the new crank Baits can run you from 13 to $25 , This bait is a steal and would work just as good. I have some of the originals as well as these and these work just as well. One of the best buys out there.

From: William: 11/4/22

Comments: I haven't thrown wiggle warts in years, bought a couple for smallmouth and they still work. Caught quite a few bouncing off rocks and crank pause in low 40's water. Don't believe 12 foot depths cranking, maybe 8 at most. Ran true and tight, even after grinding rocks. What a bargain at todays crankbait prices.

From: Jethro: Maryland 12/3/21

Comments: Wiggle Wart! Great little crankbaits for saugeye. The Model No. V158 in Metalic Orange Chartruse is a real killer! This color combo out fishes all my other lures when trolling for dirty water saugeye in the spring. Just purchased more to replenish the ones lost to the brush.

From: Mark: Oklahoma City 4/28/20

Comments: Wiggle Warts are almost always my first choice in a crankbait.  The colors are awesome, watermelon and any of the blue craw colors are my favorites.  When the bite is tough, the fish are deeper, or they want a reaction bite, these things rock it.  They bounce off structure with ease and run true and catch fish.  Why spend 20 bucks on a crankbait that a pike can take or you can loose in deep snarls when for five bucks you can do just as well?

From: Jamie: NEW PARIS 11/8/18

Comments: After years of passing these crankbaits by, I decided to try two of the warts. I know they will produce. I bought the Phantom Green and Faded Molting Craw colors. I think each color will produce strikes for clear, stained and muddy water conditions. I did replace the stock trebles with wide bend Gamakatsu's, and I replaced the line tie snap with a regular split ring. Along with the Bandit 200 series, these med diving cb's probably catch more black bass species than any cb's on the market today. Very practical, efficient, and affordable lures that keep producing.

From: John: Knoxville, TN 2/6/18

Comments: Great lure, super sticky hooks right out the package. Perfect for cold rocky ledges, caught my first 6 pounder on the phantom red

From: Andrew: Indiana 1/17/18

Comments: The bass love these lures. Their hunting action is so different from all other crankbaits. These are s great cold weather option, I caught several bass last week it was pretty chilly with wind. These wiggle warts were the only thing the bass would touch! I have had good luck with the creek craw and shad colors.

From: Kyle: Ohio 11/21/16

Comments: One of the all time greats! I have some Wiggle Warts that I've had since the 80's. I've had to replace some hooks over the years but these little baits are just plain ol' fish catchers. They excel on them ol' Brownfish on Lake Cumberland and on Dale Hollow. The Bucketmouths on Cedar Creek Lake & Lake Herrington love 'em too. Do yourself a favor. Get you some of these!

From: Brownfish: KY 3/6/16

Comments: I love the lre rapala warts but the news ones are dissapointing compared to the attention to detail the old warts had. They say theyre original colors, mold and components but the natural craw looks nothing like the old one

From: Ryan: Benton, AR 2/22/16

Comments: I've had a couple of these in my box but haven't used them till as of late. Didn't care for the colors so I touched them up a little. I put down a jerkbait to try something different and it didn't take long to start catching fish. I caught 4 largies over 3lbs, 2 smallies over 3lbs and 1 tank largie at 6.9lbs. I'm a fan of these baits now!

From: Jason: Bennington, NH 10/22/14

Comments: The Storm Wiggle Wart is listed as one of the best lures to throw for smallmouth bass on Lake Cumberland. I think Storm Lure Mfg. should be proud that one of their classic crankbaits is listed on a fishing map. Proof positive that some products still produce through the ages.

From: John: Knoxville, TN 6/14/14

Comments: Heard lots of guys talk about these thought I would give them a try for around 5$ pending on where you go I think it's a pretty solid bait paint holds up pretty well caught several fish today biggest being 5.5 in nat. Crayfish color will buy more

From: Ross: Tulsa, OK 3/23/14

Comments: My father-In-Law swore by these baits.  The only one he would throw was the " original " in solid white and he caught tons of bass on them in the early spring and late fall.. Wished Storm would bring back that paint color it's a very sought after color of crank bait especially the Wiggle Wart.

From: Mickey: Battle Creek, MI

Comments: For $4, its a fine bait. Where it excels is cold water on a slow to medium retrieve. Deflects off rock well. The smaller version runs about 7' without mods. If you use 8lb, you can get it down to 8-9'. If you add a couple lead strips to the bill, the bait will dive faster and get down to 10'.

Comments: If you would like to know if a Wiggle Wart is one of the original manufactured by Storm look under the bill to see if "Wiggle Wart" is printed on the bottom of the lip.

From: Ron: Cadiz, Ky,USA

Comments: Everyone raves about the old warts just like "the good old days" . The memories were better than the reality. The warts I buy now still catch fish like the old ones . I have plenty of both, use them equally as much and Ive never seen a difference in results. By the way, the old warts were a staple in the western basin of lake erie in the '80s for walleye. Theyre pretty easy to get around here.

From: Del: sandusky,oh.

Comments: caught a 5.4lb Largemouth in November in Ny cranking rip rap in 43 degree water!!!  Definitely look forward to banging this into a ton of rocks this year.

From: Brett: Rochester, NY

Comments: I live in Southern Oregon where winters gets pretty cold. I Went out today December 22, 2012 to a local pond in snowing conditions. Fished off the bank and caught 4 largemouth for 13.55 lbs, caught all fish on brown phantom crawfish! This is my confidence bait on the winter as well as yo-young a lipless crawfish colored redeye. Nevertheless the wiggle wart has proved to produce quality bass for me in tough, cold, winter conditions.

From: Kevin: Central Point, OR

Comments: These are my go-to baits for Smallmouth Bass up here in the north. When I know I'm on bigger fish or in a tournament, I turn it up with the Mag Wart.

From: Kevin: WI

Comments: These Cranks are AWESOME! Run em off rocks on wind blown points 8-12 foot down and you will catch fish! I will always have a few of these in my box no matter what!

From: Adrian: TX

Comments: Sorry, these "warts" are still a disgrace compared to the old ones.

From: john: St. Louis, MO

Comments: Great bait, caught some monster bluegill and decent sized bass offshore.

From: Noah: Sioux Center, IA

Comments: Totally disagree with Randy.  The paint jobs on these baits are good.  Although with this bait, it doesn't really matter which one you throw because it'll catch fish like mad!!!!  Only crankbait you need really.

From: David: Sauk Centre, MN

Comments: The paint jobs on these baits are horrible.  The Green Crawdad does not look anything like the origional color.  Don't waste your money on these, try to find the origionals.

From: Randy: Evans, GA

Comments: Wiggle Warts what can I say been around forever and now I know why.  I recently went fishing with my brother to a local reservoir here in NJ.  This was my 1st season fishing this reservoir (which will remain nameless) the first few trips had lack luster performances.  The reservoir had tons of baitfish, depth, rock, vegetation of every sort and structure you could imagine, possibly to much (if thats possible). So I basically fished all over to get a sense of what the fish were looking for and didn't do too well. I tried just about everything in my tacklebox with limited results. After another few trips that did not pan out well I said "thats it".   Thats when I gave my brother a call. I described the lake to him and he said "let's plan on goin fishin" which we did.  We got on the lake and so began my lessons on Wiggle Warts.  Joe is  Mr. Rock Fisherman its his favorite structure to fish and he does it really well. It was an overly windy day and boat control was difficult to say the least. But out of the 5 fish he caught 3 he boated on wiggle warts.  Slammin them into rocks and everything imaginabled he told me there's no other bait that comes close to the Wart in the rocks. Well he made a believer out of me.

From: Steve: W. Milford, NJ

Comments:Awesome! the only crank baits a guy needs!

From:Darin: Joplin, MO

Comments:Storm Wiggle Warts were my favorite crankbait. These in production today are a shame compared to the originals. The paint and designs are lousy, Storm should quit being so CHEAP!!!
