Overview

The Triton Mike Bucca Bull Shad Swimbait is a three-jointed swimbait designed to accurately mimic the different varieties of shad and baitfish, which populate fisheries across the United States. There is no denying the big trout-style swimbaits of the West Coast are proven to attract trophy bass, but big shad and their cousins are also a major forage for large bass. That's where the Triton Mike Bucca Bull Shad Swimbait comes in, it accurately imitates the profile and swimming action of several big baitfish varieties, including Threadfin Shad, Blueback Herring, Shiner and Gizzard Shad. "Triton" Mike Bucca, a longtime guide from Georgia specializing in catching trophy Spotted Bass on Lake Allatoona, spent several years and prototypes developing the Bull Shad because he recognized the need for a quality shad-style swim bait.

While it does have a rougher finish than other clear coat, glossy hard-swimbaits on the market, this simply adds to the Bull Shad's natural appeal. Its life-like action and profile are mouth-watering to big hungry bass. The Bull Shad performs well at varied retrieves from slow speed crawls to normal fast retrieves. It also has the ability to standup nose down on the bottom in a captivating feeding pose, allowing it be effectively jigged as well.

The Bull Shad features only top-of-the-line components, including Black Chrome Owner Hooks and Owner Hyper Wire Split Rings. Complete with 3D eyes and premium resins used in the construction process, the Bull Shad also has two built in hook hangers that swivel to prevent cagey trophy bass from twisting free. Each bait is also coated with a special realistic looking purplish/pink hue that changes colors as you tilt the bait - like the coloring of a real shad. Don't let those lunkers get away, the Triton Mike Bucca Bull Shad Swimbaits are certified trophy bass catchers with the premium components and track record to prove it.

Ugly but swims greatYeah this thing is ugly. Still recommend. The eyes aren’t even the same spacing on each side. But it swims straight and idk how. It looks great in the water. The shad pattern looks realistic swimming. I plan on buying more. I did bend the stock split rings but I change hardware more often than not anyway.

Comments: Ive been fishing the same lake for three years catching nothing over 2.5. Thirty minutes fishing this lure and i nailed a heavy 3, about thirty minutes from the first fish i caught another bass in the mid three's. Really impressed with the bull-shad.

From: Jim: MA 11/20/22

Comments: Like others have said, thins thing is ugly, but beautiful!!! Ugly in the fact that there is inconsistency in the resin, joints, paint, and tail. But, when have you ever seen a "beautiful" 5"+ gizzard shad? A beautiful pearl clear coat adds extreme realism to it visually! Beautiful in the fact that this thing straight up gets BIT! Take it out early morning when the shad are spawning and the bass are feeding up busting on the surface. Cast it out, burn it, pause, and hold on for dear life! Capitalizing on the shad spawn, my first bass went 4lbs 14oz on the 6" size. Don't purchase this if you have JDM, laser cut quality in mind. This thing is hand made, so if you're worried about the joint spacing or grooves in the resin, just remember that each and every Bull Shad is individually tuned and tank tested and that's the way they are meant to be! Doesn't come with Owner Stinger trebles however. Mike mentioned recently about difficulty aquiring bulk amounts of quality hardware for his compa
ny. Hardware is top of the line, however. I believe mine came with Mustad KVD Triple Grips stock, so no need to worry about changing out stock hardware. If you're still debating on getting one and have big gizzard shad as forage in your waters, do yourself a favor and pull the trigger! Just always retie after a big fish, I could only imagine being heartbroken watching this thing fly off on a cast...

Comments: Good bait. Catches them for sure. Burn really fast, then pause and hold on. Remember this is a hand made bait. If you get upset because the tail is cut bad, or the joins are not perfect, it's like that because it's hand made and that's how you toon them. They're ugly on purpose, they look real and swim great!

From: Roger - 11/28/20

Comments: I have bought  one of these and will buy more. the action is so realistic.

From: Unknown - 11/28/20

Comments: The 6" version is perfect. Plenty small enough for your average 2 to 3 pounder, yet enticing enough to draw the attention of a toad. Just use heavy leader in esox water or you might be out of at least 60.00. Love the action at both fast and slow speeds, and it will shoot to the side when paused and twitched. The best of the best for imitating a mid sized to big Gizzard. No bites yet but a couple follows from 3 to 4 pounders, but I have barely fished it. I often lack the patience for swimbaits.

From: Tyler: Grand Junction, CO 6/10/20

Comments: Great bait. Nice serpentine action, casts great, easy to fish (just chuck and wind . . . I throw in some sweeps and short pauses). Committed to throwing it the other day for the first time. Got three bites, boated two fish: 3 and 3.5 on the 6 inch version. So, it doesn't just catch monsters.

From: Adam: Florida 4/23/20

Comments: Been fishing Mike's baits from the very beginning.  The only criteria I have on a swimbait is that the bait gets bit better than any other swimbait I own and it does just that.  nothing else matters in the grand scheme of things.  I've caught my personal best 5 different times and also biggest sack on the Bull Shad.  keep up the great work mike!

From: Ryan - Texas 5/25/18

Comments: Yeah. It def worth the money. I caught a bunch of Clearwater pond bass where they literally won't eat anything because they are so pressured. And I caught about 15 over 3
One of my favorites

From: George 12/11/17

Comments: So haven't had it long at all, but with the only two times out so far I've had it hit once on both outings. Note, there are no shad in my lakes. I like the swimming action in my 6" version and I am pleased with my purchase. Was not to happy though with the hook up ratio. Just replaced the hooks with Owners ST41s size 1. Hoping now to stick a pig on my next outing.

From: Keep It Bent: Oregon 10/31/17

Comments: Comparing this to a bait 3x it's price range is a bad example. I can harp all I like about how an Audi drives so much better than a Camry, but would you expect something that costs half as much to have the same characteristics as a luxury model? This bait gets bit. The colors aren't laser-cut, JDM import pretty. They look like a big shad or herring, which is to say that most 5-7 inch baitfish have some scales missing from surviving to that point. This isn't a bait that you want to slow roll. It's best at a medium-sized retrieve, and it's excellent at burning. This fishes very much like a Triple Trout. Burn it around ambush points and around fish schooling up on big baitfish. If you get a bait that doesn't swim how you like, contact Mike Bucca. He takes care of his customers, and when you buy this brand, you are buying American.

From: Chris: Lancaster, CA 9/12/17

Comments: Bought the 9" version and not very impressed, the tail was cut very very poorly. No followers, no too great swimming action compared to the balam300. Casts well, comes up pretty quickly on the retrieve. Paint job was pretty decent but the joints are not painted and are the bare resin color so it doesn't look very natural in the water. Just an honest review. Hoping to get something going on this thing this coming fall. But IMO  I'd prefer there to be a fast sink option for the larger sizes. For the price, I'd say it's decent, needs a little work.

From: Joe: East Texas 8/27/17

Comments: These things are ugly, and I mean that as a compliment. Have you ever seen a shad with a "perfect paint job". This thing is probably the best imitation of a shad I've ever seen. Moves great. And most importantly it catches fish. I've caught spots, largies and smallies on the 6". Great bait. Keep up the good work Mr. Bucca
