Comments: I don't leave many reviews but this bait deserves one. I broke my pb smallmouth twice in 2 days. It just flat out catches them. By far my new favorite topwater! Works extremely well in clear water

Comments: I've been using the same Yellow Magic 1/2 oz. bone colored popper for 2 years. Caught 100's of bass with it. Just recently purchased a new Yellow Magic 1/2 oz. bone colored popper. The only reason I purchased a new one is because all the paint is wore off the old one due to me banging it up against rocks and the banks over the years. I've never had a problem with hooks bending or anything else. I still have the original front hook on it. However I've replaced the rear hook a couple of times due to the feather getting tore off. I highly recommend Yellow Magic 1/2 oz. bone colored Popper. FYI... My new popper says assembled in the Philippines. From: Unknown: 9/17/20
Comments: I own two 1/2 oz ym poppers. One in bone sits more level and works great. It has a hybrid spit/bloop that I like. Haven't caught but a couple fish on it and I've been on a popper bite for a while. The other ym is in Japanese shad. Ive used it one time for 4 hrs. The paint is already coming off, and it rests way too vertically so it's hard to work it fast. The box says assembled in China, so I think quality control is a problem. From: Phillip: Monroe 7/7/20
Comments: After 3 years of use and many, many bass later, I have to say these are still great. The finish is still holding strong and the action is easily implemented. You can make it spit, bubble, and walk-the-dog with ease. I can't beleive someone actually said the hook are good... that must be a joke. I bent a set with my fingers with minimal effort. Out of the 4 I have all of the hooks bent out on the fist use. I replaced all the hooks with gamakatsu bronze hooks and they are still sticky sharp after 3 years. Lately the bass I've been catch are blowing up on the smoky shad color in open water. A lot of fun! From: Mike: GA 8/3/19
Comments: These lures are made in Alba tx . I have used them for years . Upgrade to a bigger hook . I have used these on lake fork. For years with awesome results
From: Jeff: Alba, texas 5/10/19
Comments: These are not the original yellow poppers. These are made in China and are of very low quality. Cheap hooks, cheap paint and the rattles inside of them are bead chain beads. Definitely not worth the price! What's laughable are the hook protectors on the garbage hooks. Typical Chinese quality with a Japanese price tag.
From: LT: Hot Springs Ar 9/11/17
Comments: Good bait and it catches fish. So do other lower priced poppers that have better paint jobs and hooks. A little pricey for how short of a life span.
From: Unknonwn 8/25/17
Comments: These used to be great poppers, but the new ones don't hold up. the finish starts to come off after one trip and after 4 trips it looks terrible.
From: Unknown 8/8/17
Comments: This is hands down the best popper I have ever used. I live in Southern California home of the finicky bass. I have a local lake I fish every week where everyone swears top water bite is impossible. I bought this popper in bone color, 1/4 oz size, just for the purposes of this lake and trying to prove everyone wrong. I had previously thrown every top water bait and color imaginable before with no luck. When I got the lure I noticed the high quality of its feathers and paint, then I threw it and it casted great. I started to work the bait and was blown away on how you can get it to go side to side even though it is a popper. By my second cast I landed a 3 pounder and this popper produced for fish after fish for about 2 hours straight. The line I used was 16lb braid tied to 10lb mono leader. The hook complaint is BS, I rather catch fish and then worry about getting them in the boat. I cant wait to throw it again this weekend, buying 3 more of them as I'm writing this review.

Comments: I've bought dozens of poppers over the last 35 years. This Yellow Magic popper is my favorite. The old Daiwas with metallic finishes were nice too. I've caught both numbers and slaunches with this bait. My favorite is the 1/4 ounce in the natural baitfish finishes.

Comments: Overall good popper. The hooks really are terrible but that's not a deal breaker. I bought 4 and I've replace one set of hooks for bending out with no effort. I just noticed a point on a different one has bent over. Other than the crappy hooks the poppers design is great. The colors are great and it's easy to work different technics. Replace the hooks with gamakatsu bronze round bend hooks and it's almost as good as a Rico.
Comments: These are great poppers & worth every penny. I like the 1/2 oz. size in alwife & bone. As for the hooks, many of the reviews say they are bad. I disagree. They are sticky sharp & hold up very well as long as you use the right rod with them. I have caught several spotted bass over 3lbs on them & never had one bend out. Great popper and the only popper I have in my box. Can be worked fast with a walking motion or you can slow it down with a pop pop pause.
From: Kendal: GA 4/6/16
Comments: great popper first fish was a 6lber. caught it and 7 others. The hooks on this bait held up great sticky sharp. I used the 1/2oz baby bass. Later this week I'll use the 1/4oz bream. So far so good.
From: Frank: Topsham, ME 7/27/15
Comments: There are many imitators but only one original. Best popper BY far. I have caught more bass (up to 7-8 lb.) on these than all others combined. Go with the 1/2 oz. model for Bass. Never had any issues withe hooks and have fished these for years now. Alewife and Bone are all you need in color selection. Expensive? Yep. You get what you pay for. Pop, pop, pause....BAM!!!
From: Bill: Fort Worth, TX 7/6/15
Comments: Super nice bait, but the hooks are garbage. The hooks will bend and then they will break with the attempt to bend them back to normal position. When the bait is purchased, consider buying replacement hooks with the corresponding feather, and hooks for the front too. Be sure and carry a split ring plier when the bait is used because after the bait has caught a couple of fish the hooks will be bent. mNy of the comments mention the poor quality of the hooks, that many folks can't be wrong, the hooks are terrible.
From: Buck: Dallas, TX 7/2/15
Comments: great popper, great action, sound and decent finishes. The only thing I don't get is where people make these stories up from. I caught 7 30lb bass at one time on this lure, it broke my rod so I jumped in and wrestled them all to shore from 12 miles out which won me 3 world records and the Bassmaster Classic and they were so impressed they gave me the victory for the following 3 years and KVD begged me for my autograph. The next day I took it out... The hooks could be replaced though.
From: Jeff: USA 1/15/15
Comments: Decent popper. Because of the smaller size cup on the nose, the "POP" is more subtle than some other poppers. At times that's a plus... at other times it is not. It also seems to be fairly well balanced and "walks" nicely. With that said, the hooks are absolutely unacceptable on a lure this expensive. Probably the cheapest hooks I've seen on almost any priced lure. Sure, they can be changed... but you shouldn't need too in this price range. I'll stick with some poppers that have proven equally as good and come with better hooks until I see these coming with better hooks.
From: Dave: NE, PA 8/5/14
Comments: These poppers will call the fish in, very pleased with the action and the finish on these baits. I did however change the hooks out because they do start to bend after a few fish. I also don't understand why it is advertised as a Japanese bait when "Made in China" is clearly printed on the box.
From: ScogginsOutdoors: Lawton, OK
Comments: This is my favorite topwater bait. I don't use it as a popper, but I walk the dog with it. I prefer the 1/2 model. The hooks could be better for the price, but I haven't had one fail yet. From: Lucky: Boston, MA
Comments: this is a awesome bait. you can walk it or chug it. i prefer the 1/2 because it is easier to throw but both catch fish. have caught a 4 and a half on it lately in Toledo Bend Resivor
From: Alec: Lutcher, LA
Comments: Best popper on the market, only thing is you need to swap out the hooks.
From: Matt: Dallas, TX
Comments: caught 2 10lbers at one time on this bait. both were hooked with one hook. cant believe i landed them.
From: Muktar: India
Comments: First time out the back hook bent. I tried to straighten and it broke off. Really needs to be better quality hooks.
From: Danny: Waxahachie
Comments: the 1/4 is awesome. I have caught my best top fish on these, even fishing side by side with other poppers, they will beat any other bait, hands down.
From: Sergio: Dallas, TX
Comments: Great product. Won a Bass Tourney at Lake Bob Sandlin in Texas recently using the Yellow Magic Japanese Shad all day. Only thing is hooks bent and had to replace all of them with Mustad Triple Grips. For this money you'd think they would give you good hooks; stock ones are junk.
From: Chris: Mount Pleasant, TX
Comments: The only thing I sugest is swaping out the hooks. Lost several 8+ pound bass due to the cheep hooks swaped them now it is te best I ever used.
From: Jody: Humble, TX
Comments: Not a good lure. Don't waste you money
From: John: Etoile, TX
Comments: this caught me the largest bass of my life it was 17 pounds 3 ounces out of lake Washington.
Comments: First time i took this popper out i caught a 7 pounder on the second cast. The cool thing about this popper is that you can walk the dog with it. It is an expensive lure but well worth it.
From: Thomas: Austin, TX
Comments: I have bought 5 of these lures from tackle warehouse this year. I have got different colors and sizes. Let me tell you I have caught fish in the rain, under bluebird skies and have recently caught bass in the fall on them. I rate this bait a 10 plus. Little price to pay for the results. Again try it you will love it.
