Overview
Z Man, one of the fastest growing lure brand in America, continues to push the levels of innovation with the new Z Man Palmetto Bugz. Its streamlined design allows it to slide through cover easily, while its ringed 4-inch body produces added vibration as it moves through the water combined with a softer, more lifelike feel when bass bite down. Available in a variety of colors, the Z Man Palmetto’s salt impregnated ElaZtech construction is also made to last so you can keep landing the big ones. Cast after cast, fish after fish.
What separates Elaztech plastics from other soft plastics is their life-like action, natural buoyancy and unmatched durability. Elaztech baits not only look great, they are also up to 10X tougher than other plastics. They resist nicks, cuts and tears, and that means you're likely to catch a lot more fish on Elaztech before having to replace them.

Comments: Excellent bait. I had bought these not long after they hit the market. Unfortunately they sat in my stock room for nearly 2 years before I got around to using them. I don't fish many tourneys, but this bait was key in 5 big wins. 1 of which was won fishing clean up on docks not more then 5 minutes behind an acquaintance of mine whos #1 dock skip/flip bait is (you guessed it!) slightly modified D Bomb in Bruiser or Super Bug. I love D Bombs, but so does everyone else. That particular day nearly all of our better fish hit during a long pause or the first movement after the long pause. As far as the Palmetto being a knock off of the D Bomb, personally I don't see it that way, it fishes totally different...Tight Lines

Comments: The spawn is winding down and I am destroying fish on these things right now. I just started putting a lot more time with them on the water about 2 weeks ago and man am I sorry I didn't get on the train earlier. They float really well, if you had enough you raise the titanic with them. I work em slow with a stop about 4 to 12 inches(depending on bottom composition) and a 1/8 tungsten bullet weight above that. I love D bombs, sweet beavers and biffle bugs but a lot of times its 1 fish per bait especially with beavers. The palmetto bugs catch 6-10 solid fish before you need to replace them. If I cut and retied instead of tearing the flippin hook through the bait to rerig they would last much longer. A little of mend it would also allow you to stretch that bait another few fish. The only downfall is the appendages can kink in the bag and you may have to boil them but its a small price to pay.

Comments: I had these for a long time before I ever used them. The salt content is much lower then some of the other zman baits so they float really well even with heavy hook. I like to use them when im tryin to slow down and keep the bait in the fishes face. Its hard to texpose with these, the top of the body has a concave ridge running down the center so the hookpoint has less plastic to punch thru on a hookset. Its hard to burry the point without making the bait crooked so a straight shank is what I like to use. The elaztech is great but it has disadvantages too. The appendages can kink really bad if they aren't stored right. I have a bunch I have to boil and straighten out. I wish they had more colors, like a bama craw or GP orange belly but most of the bases are covered. They don't remind me of a d bomb at all. Dbombs have a small body its the ribs that gives them size, the shape is totally different to. It looks like more like standard beaver to me if anything.

Comments: Should we buy this lure since is supposedly a "copy" of the D-Bomb? Which is, by the way, a "copy" of the the original Beavers, and so on. There are a whole lot of baits that fit into the "beaver" style of bait. There question really is if this version of that category adds something. At the very lease the materially used to product the Palmetto Bug floats and the others do not. Score on for Z-Man.

Comments: I don't care what beaver style bait you use come flip and punch with me and I will guarantee you will have gone through more than a bag while I am still flipping the SAME bait I started with. This means more flips = more fish and less cost . Simply put saves time and money

Comments: No other bait can achieve the action and floatation that this bait has ! Number one with awesome colors, except for white ! Great fish producer !

Comments: It's a great bait and it sits straight up when on the bottom because Zman products float. That's huge...

Comments: this bait rips lips like you wouldnt believe. i fish southern wisconsin a lot and with the amount of pressure in which we recieve i love to use smaller baits. this bait allows for me to fish in ways no other anglers fish. this bait runs nicely on a 3 ought gamakatsu with a 3/16 or 3/8 ounce weight. fishing these baits around docks even when another guy went through will still work and ive won 3 tournaments this year fishing a dock that 2 minutes before me a guy fished so it goes to show how good these baits are great.

Comments: this bait in my opinion sucks. first of all it is basicly copying the missle baits d bomb which is without a question the best bait on the market. i hate how everyone i talk to is all happy about this bait, yes it does catch nice fish but they copied the d bomb and thats not right. i hate how companies copy a bait once they produce.

Comments: My favorite plastic for flipping and pitching, extremely versatile and durable. Once this lure is on your hook, nothing is going to take it off. I use it with vmc hooks and vike tungsten weights, pitch it anywhere work it a little and hope for a bit,(most fish come on the fall of shortly after) I like California craw, great for clear, cold water conditions.
From: Quinn: Vancouver, British Columbia 7/17/14
Comments: they are durable, but they also melt, badly, 3 of them melted while still in the bag in temperatures not above 70 degrees. that's not good.
From: Slade: USA 3/12/14
Comments: You can't tear these things up and they will float a super line hook. I like to peg the weight about 3" above the bait so it floats up just enough for the fish to see it better.
From: Kelly: Shreveport, LA
Comments: great punching baits, my only complaint is that they get deformed very easily in the bag. i guess thats the price you pay for such durability. one of these will easily last you 50 fish, if not 100. the "10X stronger" on the bag is quite understated. i like to set them sit on the bottom for a few seconds at a time while punching.

Comments: As with other other Z Man products (accept zinkerz), floats great so stands up on your flippin rig. & super soft 'squeezable' feel - I like it! Only thing with the Z Man float baits is they should make appendages further apart, or at least coming out in sharper angles from eachother. The reason is they are so soft & tend to stick to eachother when they touch. Wind up with overlapping flappers that won't just let go easily when they get in the water. Kind of a deal breaker for me, but would be perfect if they'd do a little redesign IMHO. Maybe something like Gambler's ugly otter...
