Comments: I bought the 8' Heavy Swimbait (aka Baileys Swim). Very nice rod, suprisingly light for a 8 footer, quality build. Not what I would call a do-all swimbait rod though. It's much stiffer than I expected. If you want something for glides and smaller single hook baits id look elsewhere.

Comments: I've really tried to like these rods after hearing all the hype, but after ordering, using, and returning several various models I've decided to just stick to what has worked for me for 20 + years (Quantum). iRods are like broomsticks. Tons of backbone but the handle is like a toothpick even up to the Bailey Swim. Not sure how anyone can fish with one of these all day long when the fulcrum is an inch above the reel seat. Not bashing them because I gave them a try but there are better options out there!
From: Steve: Chicago 12/4/22
Comments: I've used an iRod Genesis III IRG703C-MH for about a year now and and found myself reaching for other rods in my arsenal. I used the iRod less and less until I finally removed the reel (a perfectly fine Lew's) and parked it in a corner of my garage. The iRod is light and sensitive but stiff and lifeless. It might be a serviceable flipping stick but if, like me, you prefer rods that load well for accurate and long casts, there are much better products on the market without sacrificing significant sensitivity.
From: Tom: NC 10/14/22
Comments: I grabbed the 7'5ˇ Magic for frogging and got to used it the weekend. I used using a Jackal Kaera frog which is advertised as 1/2 oz but I think I read it's actually more like 2/5 oz, it's very light. The genesis rod struggled a little with such a small frog but I could still get it out probably 45 ft reliably. Heavier frogs will be no issue. I was bank fishing so the length actually was a concern, a few times while I was walking the frog I hit the ground or the water. I'm willing to blame my technique and inexperience but a shorter rod would probably have been easier. From a boat, this would be a non issue. I caught several bass in the 2-4lb range and never once had to worry about the rod, it had them pinned easily. Horsed them out of grass without issue. Styling is cool, reel seat felt sturdy. Happy with the purchase.
From: Matt: Texas 8/9/22
Comments: These well balanced light weight rods are quality built and budget friendly. I now own multiples of 3 different price points Gen III's, Crusher's, and Air series. These rods keep fish pinned and take a pounding. Once you try one you'll buy more for sure!
From: Dave: Lake Geneva, WI 4/1/22
Comments: My first venture into iRods was the 742 and it lived up to its billing of being light, balanced and providing great sensitivity. The rod is a tremendous value for what is offered and is also an American based company with a great warranty and customer service.

Comments: Bub's Punch Rod iRod Genesis III 7'11" I needed a rod for flipping and throwing swimbaits around 1.5 ounces like the s waver 168. Bub's punch rod with it's mod/fast action is perfect for braid. Xfast action rods bend too far near the tip and you get no leverage. This rod's leverage point is a bit nearer the center but it is very stout. Casts Swimbait very far. Super light weight. Nice long handle for casting. Super crisp mod/fast. It has a removable handle which i will never take off but you may like that if you have a rod locker which is just a bit small. Very light for a long rod. Not tip heavy at all. I am not huge on the micro guides because I put a leader on for swimbaits. But I just reel the knot up to the tip guide and cast from there. I searched a while looking for a rod I could use for Umbrella rigs, flipping, swimbaits - heavy baits; but a most rods are so stiff and tip heavy. I tried enigma, 7'6" for lures up to 3 ounces. Terrible. It was very heavy. I tried powell endurance rod rated up to 3 ounce lure. Nice but very stiff tip. I think they should rename the rod personally because I sort of didn't try it because I figured it was a broomstick even with the rating. It could handle 2.5 ounce. Tried to give as much info as I could for someone looking for similar application of the rod.
From: B: Florida 11/23/21
Comments: New trigger grip is terribly uncomfortable. The last irod I bought I had to sand down the ridge near the blank to even use the rod. I love the 10 irods I have, but I am done buying them with the change in grip.
From: Matt: Florida 10/26/21
Comments: Jr Swimbait was purchased to pair with a Scorpion MD 300 for 175 class swimbaits, like the s-waver.I feel this rod was a bit over hyped. For one you cannot even use the thing for heavier line to leader applications, due to the micro eye guides. The knot of any type you tie will slap thru the eyes. So you're basically limited to either spooling straight flouro or straight braid. Who ever thought that micro was the deal obviously failed to use it in a true swimbait application. I'm already not a fan after seeing reviews of the rods having eyes pop loose, trying to slap leader thru them will not help at all. Probably will relegate this to a back up and get something different to use for this application.

Comments: These rods are outstanding! High quality, light weight and really well balanced. Not only are you buying a top caliber product, iRod's customer service is second to none. Matt is a great guy and eager to help.
From: Derek: Florida 8/27/21
Comments: The freds majgic stick is a great frog rod and 1/2 to 1 ounce punching rod. it has a pretty moderate action but still has plenty of power. Ive put this rod through 2 years of absolute abuse and it shows almost no signs of it. The sensetivity isint that great "coming from shimano exprides and G-loomis NRX's" but you can still feel your bait.
From: Unknown: 8/24/21
Comments: When I first got this rod in the 7,5 (frog) model I was surprised about how much tip it had I really enjoy horsing fish with it and flipping as well. It handles each technique perfectly and the reel I have paired up is a Curado 70, I also enjoy using this application in the saltwater because I am located along the west coast so we have a lot of saltwater bass calico, spotties etc. I'm able to really horse those fish in and get them away from cover and plus it's fun lol overall the rod is amazing pick one up yourself.
From: Nic: San Diego, CA 8/11/21
Comments: Bama rig special. It's awesome. Handles a-rigs really well. Caught a 33 pound striper on it and the rod held up. Nothing more to say.

Comments: **UPDATE** 4/3/21 The 8' heavy swimbait rod can throw big baits but best suited for 2-6oz baits. I also have the 8'6extra heavy mag. Now this is a beauty! I feel comfortable throwing anything from 3-10oz! Both rods are the Gen lll series. With these two rods I've covered all my bases as far as big baits go! After reviewing other rods extensively, these are the ones for me! Don't miss out! Great rods, great price!!! **ORIGINAL REVIEW**Just back from test driving my new 8' irod heavy swimbait rod gen lll . what can I say, great rod! Serious backbone with a soft tip. I paired it up with an Okuma Citrix 364 reel. Killer combo! This rod & reel combo can easily handle 10.6oz Savage Gear line through Trout. Great rod for the price! Also, the removable handle is an added bonus!
From: Steven: CA 3/12/21
Comments: **UPDATE** 7/24/18 I wrote my first review a little over 2 years ago when I had 4 of these rods. After 2 years of hard tournament fishing, lots of fun fishing, I can say these rods exceed my expectations. Big guy, small boat, so rods get abused, but aside from losing the folding wire hook keeper on a couple of them (I think I can make a replacement out of a paper clip), they all still look brand new. And I'm now up to 14 Genesis II casting rods, 3 spinning, and 2 Crusher casting rods. These are hands down the best value rods you can find, with any action to fit your need. **Original**If you're looking to step into the higher end rods, this is a great start. The first one I bought was the 723c Vibrating/swim jig rod because chatterbaits are my go-to method of fishing. First thing I noticed was that it was much stiffer than I expected, so I stepped down from braid to fluoro. First fish on it and I thought it was a bit too heavy power. Fast foward a year and several fish, now it's PERFECT. The rod seemed to soften up a bit as it got "broken in" and now, with 16lb fluoro, there isn't a better rod I've found for this, so I stepped up and bought 3 more models. I bought the 754F Fred's Magic stick and the 703CC gabes riprap special first...the 703cc is a perfect jerkbait rod, and the 754 I've thrown jigs, whopper ploppers, frogs, small swimbaits (R2S S-Waver and Huddleston 68), you name it, it does it. Last I just bought the Jr. Swimbait rod and it throws hudds flawlessly, and weighs almost nothing it seems like. I'm not the easiest on gear, but I haven't had a single problem. I'll definitely be getting several more.
From: Sean: Centennial, CO 9/28/20Comments: I have been missing out for years these rods are sweet I've got 7ft heavy it that can be a multi purpose rod. Light, stout, durable, and in all actions under the sun do it buy one. From: B: Arkansas 7/23/20
Comments: These rods are insane. Sensitive and versatile. All of the swimbait rods are awesome and the magic stick is my favorite. Best customer service in the business as well. When you fish one, you can tell the details of the rod were made by fisherman. From: Marcus: California 3/12/20
Comments: I just got my bailey swim mag the other day. I'm impressed so far. It throws all my baits very well, 10oz down to 2oz, all equally well. It's a huge rod as far as length. The guides don't seem beefy like a guide select but we'll see. This rod is light and the handle is awesome! From: Colby: California 2/27/20
Comments: Very fragile, 2 guide inserts blew out on 2 different rods with less than 20hrs logged. I'd stay away.***UPDATE*** Owner Matt exchanged both rods for me for a small fee, new rods have zero problems with guides, am now very happy with iRod. Exceptional customer service more than made up for minor issues with build.
From: Moe S: 1/17/20
Comments: The Bailey Swim series of Rods are the best Swimbaits rods for the price in my opinion. The Bailey swim is the jack of all trades and you can get away with throwing all your 7-9" Swimbaits (gliders/boot tail etc.). One rod can throw 90% of the baits I own. It's nice to have a rod that can throw a ton of different baits comfortably and not have to drop a fortune on building an arsenal of rods. Highly recommend the Bailey swim to anyone looking to get a Swimbait rodFrom: Joseph: California 12/26/19
Comments: I was looking for a rod to throw 6" Huddelston swimbaits with. I looked at all the famous brands. After reading the reviews here, I decided to grab the 783sb rated 1 to 4 ozs. I also paired this rod with my Diawa Tatula 200 reel. Spooled it with 17lb mono. After getting the reel dialed in, I was surprised at the distance you get without having to cast hard. The tip loads up really nice, as you let the rod do all the work, your bait simply sails out there. Now, another thing I like about this rod is the weight, I didn't expect a rod this size to be so light, and very well finished, yeah...it looks that good. So, with black Friday coming up I'll be ordering a 6'9" Lone Star rod. If I decide t get back into throwing heavier swim and glide baits, you can be sure that rod will be an Irod, these such a great value.
From: Greg: San Pedro, CA 11/26/19
Comments: Bought the Bailey Heavy action swimbait rod and used it to throw different baits with the max weight being about 3.5 ounces. This rod is way too heavy for these size baits as the rod is too heavy throughout. The tip is too heavy and it feels cumbersome to cast. Feels like a broomstick as the rod doesn't load up. The handle is also too short and causes fatigue. The rod is light but that's about it. Going to get a Daiwa swimbait rod as the reviews indicate that it has a somewhat more moderate action. From: Los Angeles, CA 11/6/19
Comments: I bought the 7'8" Jr Swimbait rod. Excellent quality, great balance and light weight. Paired with a Tatula 200, throwing 2 oz baits is a breeze. The action is a bit faster than I was hoping for but I am using mono instead of braid. Would definitely buy from iRods again! From: Unknown: Thompsons Station, TN 10/16/19
Comments: Bought the Freds Magic Stick, great rod right up to the point the reel seat came loose after a couple months. Emailed them and Matt (owner) emailed me back. Sent in the rod and they sent me back a new rod right away. Excellent customer service and warranty. Rod handles anything you throw at it. Used it for spoon jacking with the James Watson R2S spoon, carolina rig, dragging football jigs also used it for the R2S S-Waver 168. Single hook baits or treble hooks it has a great tip and smooth backbone. Since buying it I now own 3 more the Fred's crank launcher Jr (handle seems a bit long to me) and 2 704 rods for pitching and flipping jigs and soft plastics.
From: Aaron: Springfield 8/28/19
Comments: I searched high and low for a versatile rod on the heavy end for things like flipping, magnum spoons, big jigs and every search on every forum pointed to the iROD Fred's Magic Stick. This thing was so well-liked in reviews that I ended up ordering it without doing half of my usual research. I'll add myself to that list of folks that can't like this rod enough. It's a heavy action but is extremely well-balanced and light to boot. It's like a flipping stick with just a little more action which is forgiving when throwing straight braid on it. The components are premium as well which you wouldn't expect at this price point. My only hesitation in writing this review is letting the cat out of the bag on a steal of a rod. The company still operates like a small mom & pop shop so when you talk to customer service you never know who you may end up talking to!
From: Jason: Virgina 8/21/19
Comments: I have been looking around for a rod that can throw the OLD Phantom rat. I have bought several "other" swim-bait rods, and have not found one that can cast this bait without feeling like its going to break. I know who Paul Bailey is and know he throws large baits often, So i ordered one to try. I have NEVER been so happy with this rod. I can actually put some back into my casts now, and i am throwing the Phantom with accuracy now too. I am a FAN now of these rods, and for the price.. looks like i will be ordering more! From: Unknown: 8/20/19
Comments: I have really fallen in love with these rods. A mid-range price point that offers excellent performance AND durability. I have two now, the Stone Cold and the 7'4" Hvy.(I'd call it MH). Great tools. Plan to buy the 6'10" M Jerkbait. I think these rods are very well balanced and offer versatility in every model. Eventually, my front deck will have many. From: Coach: Shell Knob 6/11/19
Comments: Got the Stone Cold Swim/Vibrating Jig model. Wanted a rod to fish spinnerbaits via a long cast in windy conditions. This rod is awesome. Excellent tip and action that allows me to launch a bait if needed. Rod feels great in my hands. Great balance. Like the fold down hook keeper. Very pleased and will buy more iRODS in other models.
From: Coach: Shell Knob 5/21/19
Comments: If you are looking for an affordably priced rod with great features and construction look no further. All of the actions on the genesis II's are perfectly tuned for what they are meant to do! For moving baits there may not be better tuned actions out there. If you are a deep crank guy the crank launcher is an amazing tool to get down deep and stay pinned to big fish. If you're a squarebill or chatterbait guy the crank jr. is as smooth as they come, perfect tip and loads down to a parabolic butt section.

From: Ron - Washington 7/10/18
Comments: For anyone who's in the market looking for a truly great hardbait with treble hook rod, look no further than the Bailey Swim Mag. It absolutely launches baits in the 6oz range and can handle baits up to that 12oz range with relative ease. I've owned the Dobyns 908 before this, as well as several of the Okuma Guide Selects and Phenix rods, but this one definitely takes the cake in regards to being true to its stated rating and performance. Paired with a 300 sized reel, it is a dream stick for the price. The first irod I've owned, and I am very happy to have made the decision. It really does remind me of a heavy action back bouncer for salmon. The more parabolic nature of this rod makes it great for big stripers. The blank loads up and launches baits for you and when you get bit, fish stay pegged due to the more flex this rod has as opposed to XH and XXH rods from other companies. On the lower end of the lure spectrum, I've thrown big hammers on 1oz underspins with it and it worked out great.
From: Daniel - Sacramento, CA 3/15/18
Comments: The Bama Rig Special is a workhorse of a rod. I can easily cast rigs a mile and the rod is incredibly comfortable. Threw rigs all day and experienced no fatigue. Highly recommend, especially for the price.
From: Josh: Knoxville, TN 11/22/17
Comments: Great rods! I have the Magic stick paired with a lesser impressive Zillion sv tws. Great jig, frog, and top water combo. Super light and pulls like a horse. The guides are a bit small so make sure your leader knot tying skills are sharp.
From: Derick - California 11/19/17
Comments: I own the xl swim and it swim. Both rods perform flawlessly day after day. Many bass as well as alligators have been caught and released on these rods. You couldn't give me a Dodyns rod after using these. Both are paired with revo beasts with 20 and 15 pound big game.
From: Morgan: Florida 7/30/17
Comments: I like the I rods I own 6 and have had a few double digit bass and these rods are tournament workhorses for me. The best and worst part is the micro guides you must glue your knot on braid to leader or it sticks more than other options. But if you tie good knots and take your time you will have no problems and a powerful tool on the water.
From: Brian: Murrieta Ca 7/18/17
Comments: These rods are nice considering the price point, they seem really stiff at first but once you get wait on them they flex good. With the 7' 9" jr swimbait get a good reel bc with it just being 7'9" and 17" being the handle it's not very easy to get good distance but all and all it's a great rod for $150. They seem very durable to.
From: Tyler: Cal 7/12/17
Comments: Had this rod about a week. Caught two bass on it. It's a great rod just a little heavy and unbalanced
From: Tyler: Los Angela's ca 6/20/17
Comments: Have had this rod 3 weeks and just had it break at the base right above my reel on a 5 pounder in the pads. Loved this rod up until that happened.
From: Donald: MS 5/7/17
Comments: I own the Bama rig, the crank launcher jr and the rip rap special. Great balance and they're tough. I fish about 200 days a year from a kayak and these things don't get babied...No problems at all. The Bama rig has caught a bunch of fish and will launch an a rig a country mile but I hoisted a mud covered folding camp chair out of 25' of water that I got hung up on. That's a pretty solid back bone.

Comments: Great rods for the money. I own 5 in total, 4 genesis & 1 crusher. Up there with the best of them in weight, balance and sensitivity. The owner Matt Newman is genuinely a great guy & will bend over backwards to help you in rod selection or warranty replacements. Lifetime warranty & great customer service. Not much else you could ask for.

From: Fred: USA 8/24/16
Comments: I have the frog rod or the 754. This quickly became my favorite rod. The rod feels like a smaller normal rod used for texas rigs but when you set the hook on a fish, you can really feel the backbone. The tip is perfect for slinging frogs underneath trees & docks & into tight pockets. I have mine paired with a Curado I 200hg which makes it a deadly combo. I just had an accident with the rod and broke the tip off after closing the car door on it somehow. I called iRod and talked to Matt who offered great service. I sent it in and I'm up and running again. I haven't caught any giants on it yet, but I can make 5lbers come right to the boat. Great rods & I highly recommend it. 10/10
From: Michael: CA 7/14/16
Comments: I have the andy's light flip & junk rod & I love it. Purchased this rod as sort of an extra but find myself using it often. If you have a question as to which one would fit your purpose, just call the company. Matt (owner) will answer & help you with any questions you have & direct you to the correct rod. Not a lot of companies you can do this with.
From: Virgi: Green Bay, WI 4/7/16
Comments: I have the Gabes rip rap special and Fred's magic stick. Love them both. The rip rap special is lightweight & has a perfect tip for throwing anything with trebles but enough backbone to throw a 1/4 ounce swim jig in open water and still get a good hook set. Plus it has my name on it. It's rare to find a rod in my opinion that does so many things so well. The foam butt grip broke in half on the first cast but it didn't effect the performance so I didn't send it back. The Fred's stick is also a great rod that seems to be versatile as well although I've done nothing but throw frogs with it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these rods. They're sweet.
From: Gabe: MS 3/16/16
Comments: I own the 7'6" Andy's Light flip/junk rod and I am very happy with this rod. My first bass caught on it was a 7.11 LMB and the rod did perfect, it flexed when it needed to and had the power to set the hook in thick grass. The line guides are all perfect, no epoxy over run, the build quality is very good, the Sensitivity is what you would expect in a $150 rod. I will be buying more.

Comments: Excellent rods. They look good and function well. Got the Stone Cold Swim Jig 7'2 & it is so multifunctional. Great for traps, paddle tails, big soft plastics or even jigs. For the length, it is a very light rod. Fast tipped but loads up nice. Already looking for my second one.

Comments: Got bubs punch Rod the day before a tourney on the delta. Paired it with a lexa, 65 braid, a trokar, some tungsten & some plastic. Started off ripping some 3 and under from the heavy mats. Ended up man handling a 7, poor girl didn't have a chance. From flipping & punching to small swim baits & jigs, this Rod is great! With the price it makes it easier to own 20 of them & beat them up like I do. It's no NRX, but it's something for the workin man like I am. I will be getting more for this springs tourneys.

Comments: Matt is really a first class guy & sure knows how to build a good rod. Even gave me some advice when I emailed about a warranty rod. Will continue to buy IROD! Great rods, better people.

Comments: I have the Fred's stick Gen2 & it's probably the most versatile rod i own. i throw everything on it: frogs, jigs, punching (up to 1.5oz), bama rigs, spinner baits, swimbaits, s-wavers (168 and 200) & hudd 68's. i bank and boat fish and sometimes limited in the rods i can carry at one time. I love the Fred's stick so much i now own 2 of them. One i have spooled with shimano curado 300 with 25lb pline cxx and the 2nd with Lews 65lb braid. Both reels balance well on Fred's stick & sensitivity is awesome. For the price i don't think you can go wrong.

Comments: I have the Bama, Bub's Punch, Jr. and Jumbo Swimbait rods and I can't say one negative thing about Irod. All of my rods cast a mile and are sensitive enough to feel any bite, no matter the distance or line. I fish from the bank 9/10 times and I literally drag the fish out of the water. I found that the Bama rod can throw lighter swimbaits and I honestly haven't thrown a A-rig in a while because of this. The Bub's Punch rod is my go to right now! I throw/Pitch Jigs with ease and it has a nice tip to feel the bottom and the backbone to drag the fish out of the water. I throw the 6" Hudds and most of my glide baits on my Jr. swimbait rod and fish it with 15 pound p-line. Throw a Deps on 15 pound test and tell me you aren't concerned, Im not. I mated my jumbo with a Cardiff 400 and this setup is a beast! For tall rods like the ones I have, you would be surprised by how light they are. Best bang for your buck IMO. They feel great, fish great and well worth the dollars. I have met Matt Newman (Owner of Irod) and he is one of the coolest guys in the business. He stands by his rods and if you call with a concern, he will take care of you.

Comments: bought the bama rig special and one word describes it. Awesome. throws a umbrella rig like a spinnerbait great rod. I will buy more. And great price too.
From: Dwayne: Luttrell, TN 12/30/14
Comments: Bought one to throw a Deps glide bait on, bought the large swimbait rod. Loved it out of the box, felt great. Then I used it. Got about 20 casts out of it and the rod literally blew up in my hands on a cast. Tip broke off about 16 inches down and the next 2 sections look like it was slammed in a car door. First and last experience with these rods.
From: Kevin: Bryson City, NC 10/26/14
Comments: Best rods i own. been fishing the jumbo swim for about two years and it has performed incredibly. When my dumba** closed in in a garage door i called matt and he sent me a new guide on the spot. This thing can easily toss around any big bait you put on it and will not ware you out. i paired it with a komodo 350 and 25 lb big game. Don't use braid you need the exta stretch in mono to set the hook
From: Sam: Canyon Lake, CA
Comments: I have 15 of these rods. The new ones come with different guides. They are Fuji Alconite guides now and much improved. You can't beat these rods as far as price to performance. Sure there are better rods out there but they cost twice as much! They 7'4" med/hvy rod will cover all your light pitching, Carolina rigs, Big worms, spinnerbaits, topwaters(you get my point) and to the people saying this rod breaks easily that are full of sh**. I have boat flipped 5lbers and never broke a rod! Get you a few and you will not be disappointed!
From: Brian: Burlington, NC 9/10/14
Comments: My IRod Genesis 2 Fred's Magic Stick is something else, it loads up perfect for Jig's and deep big worms plus you can throw toads all day long on this rod and never get tired. I love it and while I have not tried any other IRods yet, I now have a feeling I will be. I 100% recommend Fred's Magic Stick, it is one heck of a fishing rod.
From: Kevin: FL 7/31/14
Comments: Fred's Magic Stick - I was originally recommended this rod by a friend for deep structure fishing smallies with 1/2-3/4oz football head jigs. This is by far the most versatile stick I've ever used! This changed the game. The rod is so balanced it doesn't even make sense. Paired it with a Curado E, Chronarch E and a Tatula. All 3 reels felt like the rod kept same pivot point. This rod has a moderate taper allowing you to wail the hook home but not ripping it out of its mouth either. Also it helps keep the fish pinned if you're pulling it against thick cover. Not a issue with this i was swinging in 5 and 6 pounders all weekend. One thing I'm really happy about too is the customer service with Irod. You don't speak to some random person in a call center. You deal with Matt the owner himself. Add on a lifetime warranty you'll most likely never need and you have the best sub $200 rod made, period! Just a heads up though If you buy one say in August, by November you'll likely have 4,5 maybe even 10 more.
From: Dave: Stratford, CT 7/22/14
Comments: these rods are garbage. My fishing partner snapped a large swimbait rod casting a 3 oz bait 2 eyes down from the tip. He had it replaced first cast with the same bait it snapped mid cast again this time 2 eyes from the bottom. Needless to say he is done with irod and the broken rod is now sitting at the bottom of clear lake
From: Dave: Clear Lake, CA 5/26/14
Comments: Got Fred's Magic Stick during the last 20% sale. Just used it within the past month for the first time. On my second trip (never caught a fish on it), the reel seat hood separated from the rod, so it won't hold down the reel. Because I waited to long from ordering it to using it, I cannot get a direct replacement, I have to pay the $50 warranty, rods not worth investing more in. So my 2 trips using the rod cost me $50, sux for me. TW refunded me the difference so I didn't lose all my money, but enough to say I won't be ordering any other irods. Rod was extremely light and felt good, other than the eyes are extremely cheap, they are not all the same, some don't appear to have a back side to them, and so noisy with mono. Moral of the story, if you order it, use it right away and return right away if something goes out on it if you want to even have a chance at getting it replaced without the warranty fee. From: Northwest: USA 5/9/14
Comments: Just got the Large Swimbait rod in the mail and it looks top notch, I wouldn't write a review without using it generally but I wanted to address the Guide issue that is all over these reviews. Spoke to the owner, who picked up when I called cust. service concerned about the issue. The problem no longer occurs and has been addressed, so if this issue is making you think twice about getting one of these rods you can rest easy. Mine came in perfect condition and Ill update with a usage review soon as this dang ice melts.
From: EH: NY 2/25/14
Comments: Amazing rods for the price! I just mounted my 693C on a jdm shimano metanium and one word comes to mind "amazing" all I need now is for the ice to melt so I can go give it a workout! I will be adding a few more iRods to my arsenal this year ... top notch quality
From: CJ: PA
Comments: first off the guides on this rod were crap, one of them was shredding my 17lb fluorocarbon, after getting good customer service from the company founder matt newman himself of whether to send my rod in or not, well, after doing his pocket knife trick of taking the excess glue out of the inside of the guide (WHICH SHOULDNT HAPPEN TO BEGIN WITH) I was up and running, I used this rod the very next day and fourth cast i went to rip the grass off my chatterbait and this rod break in a way ive never seen a rod break before. it shattered in a way to where the two sections of the rod was only held by shards of graphite. Fellas so yourself a favor and get a St.croix, Fitzgerald,or even a veritas.
From: Matt: South Florida
Comments: If you're a mat fisherman bubs punch rod is a must have. The action is spot on which makes it incredibly accurate and it has the power to rip the big girls out of the thickest stuff you can punch a hole through
From: Bassaholic: FL
Comments: The first thing I noticed when I picked up my new Genesis ll rods was how incredibly light and nimble they feel. I purchased a 703C as a general purpose rig and a 712S for drop shot. I've caught a 6lb LMB on the 712 spinning rod and it is everything I ever wanted in a finesse setup. I've got a dozen sessions on the 703 and it's the reason my other rods are now collecting dust. Both my rigs balance perfectly and fit like a glove. No hot spots or rough edges. I called iRod because I had a couple questions about setting up a frog rig and Matt Newman went above and beyond what I call good customer service. If you're on the fence, pull the trigger. You won't be disappointed.

Comments: bought bubs punch rod and tried some salmon fishing(even tho its not made for it)and i landed some huge 20+ lb salmons. I was drifting beads and i felt every bounce off the bottom. NICE ROD!!!!!!!From: TV: marysville, ca
Comments: I just bought the bub's punch rod. and so far its seems great I only caught about 20 fish on it but it seems like a quality stick. The action is perfect for punching and would be great for flipping. also would be a good for ripping a big spoon.
From: Jason: WI
Comments: i have the gen 2 large swim and it handles all bait perfectly. I can throw 8 inch hudd's along with other 8 inch baits with ease. I have been using this rod to primarily throw the 250 slide swimmer(7 oz) and it handles great. The customer service is also amazing, i had a problem with one of my guides and Matt himself sat on the phone and walked me through every step to fix it for a good amount of time. Needless to say the rod does not have one problem now. Two thumbs up for a greatly built rod and AMAZING customer service.
From: Nolan: So Cal
Comments: I love Fred's Magic Stick, you have to laugh at that! Fished the Gen2 rod, probably the most out of all my rods, frog fishing is my favorite. This rod is beast, its sensitive, very light and very well balanced. I have also found a liking using this rod for a punch set up, up to 1 oz, and throwing 1/2 and 3/4 oz jigs. I also used this rod to throw the 5 inch lunker punker on 65lb sunline braid, and had an awesome hook up ratio. I recently tried a new omen 7'11 punch rod; now I know there is little bit of a size different, after about 10 minutes I didn't touch it again. Its in the box ready to be shipped back, already purchased another Magic Stick to use to keep a jig on, or for any Texas rig application. As someone else said, this is just a very unique rod, thanks IROD!!!
From: Brett: NY
Comments: Used my 7'11" bama rig rod for the 1st time yesterday. One word. Unbeleivable!!! Launches the A rig a country mile and is light enough to fish all day without massive fatigue. Great price point. If you are undecided as to which rod to get look no farther.
From: James: TN
Comments: BEST ROD ON THE MARKET! These rods are great, I have 4 of these killers and I have no complaints at all! Great for the price and a very good recognizable look as well. Try one out...you will be thanking me!From: Connor: Southern Illinois
Comments: I have the 7'11 punch rid and use it for Carolina rigging, I will be switching all my rods over eventually I can't believe how sensitive these rods are and light they are. I also have the 7'11 crank launcher and love it u can throw a series 6 a mile I love these new IRODS.
From: Jeremy: Dallas, TX
Comments: Picked up the bama rig model after previously using a flipping stick. This rod is built perfectly for launching your A-rig all day without fatigue. Matt's customer service is superb to boot! Do yourself a favor and get one. From: Jacob: AZ
Comments: I was excited to try out the new A rig rod at Upper Bear Lake in Alabama. This rod preformed great. Very light and handle the A rig with easy. The lower profile eyes located on the last three eyes of the rod was awesome. I believe these eyes made the braided line handed the A rig better. The fast action tip made the bait easy to throw.
From: Michael: MS, USA
Comments: I just got in the A rig rod and it is awesome. I cannot wait to fish it tomorrow. I have over 25 rods and most are Shimano and GLoomis. This rod looks and feels great. Going to team this with a Lew's 5.4.1 reel for the rig. I will let you know how does tomorrow.

Comments: Had to get my Gen 1 fred's frog stick waranteed recently, and all I have to say was that Irod has some of the best customer service in the game. A big shout out to Matt Newman, as he was very easy to deal with and had no issues replacing my rod. The Gen 2 frog stick is unreal for frog fishing, perfect tip and a lot of backbone, just like the gen 1, but only lighter and better components.
From: Cole: Ontario, Canada
Comments: The best punching stick i ever used took it for bass fishing in Africa and couldn't put it down Thanks to BUB Tosh
From: Chris: UK Oxford
Comments: Magic stick is a unique rod, a lot of backbone with a lighter tip. Besides a great frog rod, the 2 oz. rating lets me throw a bigger jig and it`s great for a smaller swimbait and flippin/pitchin. awesome rod for open water or heavy cover. From: Mike: Lancaster, CA
Comments: i own 4 I Rods a 74 a 75 an two 79s love these rods best own the market in my opinion I'm gonna buy 5 more of them they match up great with the new revo sxFrom: Bruce: LA
Comments: the Jr. swimbait rod works real good for flutter spoons. I have been using the 4" and the 5" for last couple of weeks on it. A++++ From: John: AZ
Comments: Great rods and even better customer service. If you have an issue Matt will take care of you. Top notch!!From: Jesse: Abilene, KS
Comments: The Gabe's Rip Rap rod is by far the best casting rod I have ever purchased. Nice weight, easy hook set. I would recommend this rod to any one. From: R.J.: San Diego
Comments: Bub tosh rod is crazy sensitive and super light for a 7'11" rod! I fished with it all day at the CA delta without any strain! I flipped in a 6 and a half pound bass with ease! Ended up catching 16 bass between 3-6lbs all swung into the boat with the rod, amazing!!!
From: Vince: San Francisco, CA
Comments: These rods are extremely light and very comfortable, not tip heavy for whoever said that and I don't see how they think that at all. I sold all my kistlers for these and now have 12. To the guy with the line shredding, the number 5 guide (first single set is the problem). I had the same on all mine and called Matt and spoke at length with him about it, he took care of me and thensome. PacBay made an error on this guide. Since getting all mine fixed they are sweet rods and will stick with iRod for the great service, and product. Best feeling rods I have handled in a while. Matts service is as good as it gets!
From: Jeremy: Flint, TX
Comments: these rods are so AWSOME.I have 13 irods all different paired with shimano cores and core 50s. I have used many different rods and nothing is comfy than IRODs Way togo Matt. From: Gary: Lancaster, CA
Comments: this rod is in no way tip heavy. I have found to love this rod. Especially with the unique reel seat. Its super comfy and sensitive. You will not regret buying this rodFrom: John: Orange County, CA
Comments: I have been fishing the bama specical for a little while, it is by far the best bama rod on the market. Anyone using the a-rig owes it to themselves to pick up one of these. Just make sure you have plenty of line on your reel because you will empty it on a cast. From: RJ: Phx, AZ
Comments: Love these new gen II rods!! Im hearing complaints that this rod rod is tip heavy. I have not found that to be the problem. This rod is suprisingly really balanced. Ive found powells to be much more tip heavy. As well as the sensitivity factor. Its an extremly sensitive rod and extremley comfortable to fish.
From: Jake: Lake Fork, TX
Comments: very sensitive great rods the best i have ever used. buy one you will love themFrom: Nick: Madison, AL
Comments: I got the 7' Heavy and it's an ok rod. Big improvement from the Gen 1 but they still aren't as good as good as other rods at this price point. I would much rather have a Dobyns Savvy or Powell Max than an Irod for the price. These rods are still a bit tip heavy and don't have the sensitivity of a Powell or Dobyns. I would rate this rod at a 6. Get a Powell or Dobyns you won't regret it.
From: John: SoCal
Comments: Purchased Bub's Punching rod. Very impressed with this rod. The rod has a soft tip and loads nicely with a ton of power. Flips big bass into the boat with ease. Fished with it all day on the Cal Delta today and did not tire me out at all. Keep up the good work.
From: Joe: Walnut Creek, CA
Comments: I luv this thing. The beauty of simplicity. No fumbling for paper and pencil. No pushing buttons and storing weights.Weigh your fish and spin the thumbwheels to match your weight on the color tag you are going to use. Thumbwheels stay locked, and you can see all your weights at a glance. Comes with mounting bracket but I just lay mine under the console with my scales on tournament day.
From: Ronnie: Lake Fork, TX
Comments: These are amazing rods. My other rods are Loomis rods. These are light fast and NOT tip heavy. I have the Bama rig one. It will throw a rig across the lake. A must have rod. From: Joe: Maine
Comments: The gen2 series has very little in common with the originals other than name. This rods are much lighter and extremely sensitive. I have been using the gen2 for a month now. The stone cold square bill is my favorite. It has a glass tip that's very fast until you load on a fish and the rod bends halfway down the blank. I use it more for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, it does work well for larger square bills imo. cant got wrong with these! From: Marshall: Paducah, KY
Comments: Just picked up the Jr. swimbait rod. It is the perfect rod for 6 inch hudds and 5"-7' bullshad. It has just the right amount of tip for ease of casting and also good backbone for hooksets. A+ rod and customer service. From: John: AZ
Comments: Freakin Sick rods! If you thought the old ones were good than you are gonna think these are absolutely amazing! Much lighter and balance better. They are money! Get your self one or two or three or ten!

Comments: wow this is actually a very nice rod. I love the new reel seats and the new tighter foam grips really make this rod comfortable to fish. I bought the stone cold swim jig rod and its has done some dammage. I also plan to purchase the bama rig rod, and the 6ft9 cranking rod
